  1. It’s my first visit since Carnivalle, and it was running 2 then. Previous to that was back a couple of weeks after Levi opened and it was running 2 then as well
  2. Running one train on Leviathan on a sold out Spooky Nights isn’t great planning SW….
  3. If more actors have been added is hate to see how few there were in the first week?? batman & Robin, joker & Harley, superman, flash, green lantern, wonder woman, catwoman. 2-3generic “zombies”
  4. But they were all short, which may or may not have correlated to the quality - less rooms/less actors/less scenes = more $$ to put into each scene. Are the parks you are comparing to of equal size, market, attendance and revenue?
  5. If you bought fast pass you’ll get everything done easily, probably within 2hrs I’d much rather 3 detailed quality mazes that last more than 1 minute than 6 half assed ones
  6. Yeah correct, last year was the first I’d missed, so brain just went back a year rather than taking into account covid breaks
  7. Little review from tonight. arrived at 5:30. Gates open and rides running already. Walk on to GL, 30mins for SE as only one train. headed to DCeased first, got to the queue about 6:10 and it was about 7:30 when we got into the maze. As others have said, great sets, good costuming, but not scary. Really could be a day time walk thru. 5/10 grabbed a slaughterhouse stack on the way to conjuring which was surprisingly very good (and decent value too with unlimited refills) Queue for conjuring was about an hour. Strange delays where you wouldn’t move for 10mins, then move real quick, didn’t seem to be a rhyme or reason to it. Definitely the best of the night (didn’t go last year so can’t make comparisons). 8/10 Was not 8:40 so made beeline for DCR. Unfortunately they’d had already closed the queue unless you had FT, so we headed back to maze precinct (walked by WWF but that was closed to new queuers too) Death Row queue was about 15mins, was solid, some good sets and well staffed. Too short however. 6/10 Hellship wait was also around 15/20mins. Really liked the effort that had gone into the sets, and costuming was good. Again too short. 7/10 Hit some shops and then headed home. We easily could have done CirCurse too but my mate has a clown phobia and I CBF queuing on my own, looked about 20-25mins wait. all in all it was an improvement on 2021. the band on Main Street on the hour added some atmosphere, and the roving characters on Main Street were plentiful. the night is weaker for no longer having IP roving characters and now just having generics. Squeezing 4 mazes into the 2 sheds takes away from the experience as they are just too rushed. I’d rather they have 3 mazes in total and 1 per shed. The extended maze time would allow for more people to be moving through so it wouldn’t impact on queue times too severely. overall, I’d give the night a 6.5/10.
  8. DCeased and Conjuring as well as Rivals and SE are our must dos of the other 3 mazes, which is the best one?
  9. Cheers mate. No point wasting time in the queue then. Would much rather do DCR or SE then
  10. Time planning for tonight as visiting with a mate from interstate who won’t have time for a day visit so it’s the old mazes vs rides conundrum. obviously WWF at night isn’t a usual or regular offering but have they “haunted it up” in any way or is it just as normal but dark?
  11. I’m not the transport planner in our group, as we have one friend who has lived in Japan with some better knowledge of the transport systems so kind of just falling in line with what he sees best. we fly into Narita and then head straight for Osaka (assuming via Tokyo but could be wrong). I know this journey is via train (Shinkansen/bullet train) which will be an experience in itself. we then fly from Osaka to nagano, with a train connection to Hakuba. Then we train it back to Tokyo Cheers for this. I’ve tried to do some reading up on this and from all I’ve found I haven’t seen anywhere to pre-register, just that you have to shown a disability certificate (or I guess a letter from your doctor) when you arrive and then you are given some form of pass
  12. Hi All So we've bit the bullet and booked our first overseas family trip! It's been a long time coming (i haven't left our shores since 2000). Despite saying i wouldn't take my wife and son to any other Disney park for their first taste of the magic until they had been to Disneyland itself, i went back on that given the ridiculous Aussie dollar, and the opportunity to travel with friends in a large group which is great for the adults, and the kids. It's also my first trip to Japan. We are in the country for 2 weeks, starting off with 3 days in Osaka - 2 of which will be spent at USJ. Already booked the 7 attraction express pass for one of the days (hello to a $1000 day out for 3 people). We're staying at the Universal Park Front hotel right on the doorstep which will make the early start a little easier. We'll be doing the aquarium one night too as cant pass up the chance to see Whale Sharks in the flesh. We're then off to the snow for 2 days in Hakuba (again something none of us have experienced) Before heading to Tokyo for 9 nights. We're staying at Hilton Tokyo Bay, so not an official disney hotel, but a partner hotel not far from the park. I've penciled in 4 Disney days (2 at land, 2 at sea). Open to another day at one of them if need be. My partner has a mild disability so being on her feet all day wont be an option, so there will be plenty of resting time, potential hire of a wheelchair etc, so we may not be as quick around the parks as others. Bummed they dont offer multi day hopper passes like DL/CA do, you can only buy single day tickets to one or the other park. We have a heap of other things we want to cover off while there - Harry Potter Studio Tour, TeamLabs, animal cafes, pokemon centre/cafe, shopping etc BUT would love some suggestions on some theme park/rides/attractions in Tokyo itself, or any other must see's if people have anything they'd like to personally recommend. I'd love to get out to Fuji Q if we can score a free day, but it's not the highest on the priority list given the travel needed.
  13. When I was last there in January the keepers were in the enclosure with the tigers doing the milk carton feeding etc
  14. Seems Humpty had a rough night Young kids were trapped for more than half an hour on a family-friendly Dreamworld ride as stressed staffers worked to release them, according to concerned parents. Exclusive photographs show stress on employee faces as children, as young as eight, were left hanging in the air as the Humpty-Go-Round ride seized up. Parents say mechanics pulled away a panel on the ride which made “a cracking noise and shunted” causing the merry-go-round style attraction to “drop violently”. A concerned parent said: “At first it was a bit novel seeing the ride had malfunctioned and frozen, the kids were laughing and carrying on, but pretty soon a whole lot of staff appeared and the situation got a little dicey.” “It looked like there was a fair bit of panic in the eyes of the staff - they seemed to be really struggling to figure out how to get the kids down safely. “The kids who were stuck were pretty calm, but you could see they were unimpressed and some of them were clearly frightened. “I was shocked to see no staff actually attended personally to the kids for the best part of half an hour. “No counselling, no reassurances at all that we could see, just left them hanging up there.” A Dreamworld spokesperson said: “The Humpty-Go-Round experienced an unscheduled stoppage as a result of its safety system functioning as expected. “The process to lower the ride was conducted and our team was in communication with all guests for the duration. “We understand the inconvenience for our guests, however safety is our first priority and at no time was safety compromised.” Thousands of parents and families were in the park, privately booked for Australian Futsal Association 2023 national championships celebrations. The ride stalled - with some kids hanging five metres up - at 8.30pm last Thursday and it took until after 9pm for the last child to be released, the Bulletin has been told. Security staffers were stopping people trying to take photos, parents said. “This was our first time back to Dreamworld in nearly 15 years and the first time for our youngest son who already struggles a bit to feel safe and confident on thrill rides at these kinds of parks,” a parent said. “Thankfully he didn’t see much of it and was off with his friends elsewhere at the time. “It made me think of those poor families and witnesses from the River Rapids ride, and just how quickly what’s supposed to be the most fun and exciting moments can turn bad — just heart wrenching. “The rest of the night was great and the rides all ran smoothly, but you could see they were in for a long night working on the Humpty ride. The service staff and management were all there working even when we left at closing around 10pm.” https://www.goldcoastbulletin.com.au/news/gold-coast/exclusive-pics-horror-night-as-kids-left-hanging-on-dreamworld-ride/news-story/f48ae06e15b5f40807fedf51616d1532
  15. He is employed by Ardent, so unless he was to jump ship to the new owners, no he wouldn’t be
  16. Interested to know how they secure your items when there are often 4-5 boats on the course at any one time. It’s not like claw, motorcoaster, rivals etc where this is a rotational locker system that only makes the current cycles items accessible.
  17. Ardent are trying to get the best sales value they can before they take off. Having more land approved for development makes it a more profitable sales prospect. This isn’t about theme park growth, it’s about land value
  18. ARDENT LEISURE/DREAMWORLD PROPOSAL: A development application has been lodged today to cover land owned by Ardent Leisure surrounding the Dreamworld Theme Park. The proposal is to split the land into four precincts with each having a different use as follows. PRECINCT 1 is the existing theme park. PRECINCT 2 is proposed to be the Oakey Creek Nature Based Tourism Precinct which will include a limited range of nature based tourist activities and associated facilities. PRECINCT 3 is proposed to be the Gateway Precinct. This includes land as you turn left off Foxwell Road towards Dreamworld, through to the existing car park. The envisaged land use could include food and drink outlets, function facilities, hotel, childcare, shops, indoor sports and recreation, markets, office, short term accommodation and theatres. PRECINCT 4 is the proposed Coomera Town Centre Transition Precinct. This is land to the rear of the Coomera Town Centre South and is behind the proposed private hospital on that site. The Town Centre Transition Precinct is proposed to facilitate a mix of major tourism land uses plus uses that support town centre activities such as bar, education, health care, high density residential, office, retirement facility and rooming accommodation. The suggested building height limit in this precinct is 54 metres which could include buildings up to 16 storeys. The intention is to establish a clear link between the Coomera Town Centre and Dreamworld, including walkways direct to the train station and Westfield. There is no building work involved in this proposal. The intention is to gain approval for the concept, including realignment of boundaries. info care of: Coomera Pimpama Property Investment FB Page
  19. There is absolutely, unequivocally ZERO chance that is happening
  20. Granted I haven’t ridden it since Carnivalle, but there was always dead time when you are waiting for your group to move thru before the door, so having the scanner there would not impact loading
  21. It’s not a problem, it’s just yet another oversight. It would far more sense to have the QR scanner just before the glass sliding door so during grouping those who want to take part can scan, than to have it outside the ride where anyone can walk up to the scanner without having ridden. doesn't matter to me in the slightest, but from a fairness of competition point of view there should be some due diligence or attempt at creating fairness
  22. Oh, so you can pretty easily rort the system without even riding.. classic
