  1. The Workshops Rail Museum could count as a government-funded zoo if you count the crack addicts that hang around there
  2. Yes its quite sad but understandable. A lot of showies arrived, then get told that its cancelled and have to go. I can tell you that the monster truck company had to sit there for two weeks after a two day trip from the Victorian south coast. It really sucks for everybody
  3. If we can't know, but you already do and tell us that you know, then that's not really fair. It just makes no sense to give teasers to people in very vague descriptions when you're not even employed by VRTP or a website/page dedicated to sharing information about them. After all, if what your saying isn't true then we've just been led down a rabbithole of speculation which we didn't need to discuss
  4. I'll have to disagree here. There's a good amount of effort that's been put into the theming on Storm. The junk cars, vans and boats really do mix well with the story. Don't forget that the theming in the ride station really helps with atmosphere. It's better than most of the Dulux Jacuzzi blue that they painted the Vortex area with, to me at least.
  5. Awesome! Fright Nights has been a yearly tradition for me since 2016 so it'll be nice to go back this year
  6. It's really good to see the Matrix characters back. It's been many years since I heard anything out of that franchise at MW
  7. Just watched the programme and I'll say that it's pretty much what some of us were expecting. Deaths, more deaths, injuries, tears. But did they explain how the accidents/incidents occurred? Not at all. Just a whole lot of fingerpointing. The third party auditor was clearly used as a scapegoat for the 2016 DW tragedy, bloke explained that it was the safest ride in the park with no safety hazards or warnings detected, still got overshadowed by a family member of the victims. I'm not suggesting that Dreamworld had the greatest level of WHS considerations prior but still, some better contesting arguments could've been made. The WWW incident was just a money grab. The mother clearly knew that she could cash in and give her houso household an easy Maccas family feed off of the dollars. The Ghost Train fire. "The kids died!1! No we won't tell you what caused it because that woman at a competing news channel did it" was essentially what I'd summarise it as. In contrast however, the Big Dipper incident was somewhat fairly covered. The Ohio State Fair incident was also featured in a respectable light. Actual evidence was shown, and it was clearly the ride operator's fault for not providing the correct maintanence. Then they had the audiacity to not only parody the accidents mentioned, but pretty much contradict themselves by showing the last interview. The presentation with happy clown music and family-fair transitions really just ruined it. Obviously the woman interviewed (I can't remember her name regrettably) had been through some very traumatic amusement park occassions, and that's nothing against her. But it was the way they edited and presented it which annoyed me. Overall as someone who likes the theme park industry, though not having explicit knowledge about the history or rollercoaster factors in it, it was just an expected cash grab. I don't remember any VRTPs incidents being featured (GL, AA) so it was pretty much a straight rip into Dreamworld's reputation. Not surprising from a free-to-air TV channel. It's a hurtful bit of media which will probably hurt the chances for Aussie parks for many months to come - especially Dreamworld.
  8. The trend for parks nowadays is to have pink rollercoasters at the front of the park
  9. Next it'll be the bloody Wax Museum..
  10. I think it'd be a great idea to have a hotel in Coomera. And I can kinda see why the COO said that no one could compete with us. For me as a local, it'd make going to MW for the weekend a lot more appealing if I could MW one day and WnW the next. I reckon they'll also be a lot more bookings from interstate travellers who would probably think the same. If you think about it, they have SW and SW resort in Main Beach already. There's still the same old touristy spots you can go look at nearby or a few kilometres away, like The Spit, Broadbeach, Ripley's and Infinity to name a few. But they'll probably draw even more visitors from abroad after the Atlantis rides have opened. It'll give Sea World that needed boost which it has been missing for a few years now. Building and opening a hotel next to an area which has more places to go look at will be even more rewarding in the long run. You have MW, WnW, PC, Outback Spectacular and TopGolf all in a reasonable distance within one another. If you add shuttle buses or something similar in the mix as an extra charge, visitors can travel between A and B much easier. It'd also be more rewarding if you have a Locals or OnePass. Hopefully, it'd even give the Coomera/Oxenford region a bit of economic gain. Including DW and WWW. If they go through with the hotel near MW, they have major bubbles in two high-traffic areas. All in all if things go very well for VR then I could see them becoming the biggest tourism operator in the GC, hell maybe even South East Queenland (although that's a stretch). It's almost Disney-like (or rather a toned down version). There could be a lot more I can add in detail but that's just my general consensus.
  11. Do they still the PA cop car/s? I'm no backstage MW expert but I remember being in the queue for the Doll Hous a few years back during Fright Nights and it was sitting there on the otherside of the fence. It wasn't the one parked in Arkham etiher, because that was still sitting in it's usual area. Not sure if it was meant to be used or not.
  12. To add on, I personally think that if you leave those attractions untouched in a themed precinct (queue buildings, flora, props etc) it just adds more to the theming in the area as a whole. To my knowledge there's been barely any well-known events of trespassing into SBNO areas so safety wouldn't be an issue either.
  13. The monster truck arena has been turned into a mess because of all the rain that has recently happened in SE QLD. Anyway, here's a clue as to what the banners look like
  14. The track for the monster trucks is coming along
  15. Hopes might be too high but an animatronic in the queue would be cool.
  16. I've done work with them before. They have a history of being a bad name to various venue owners across Australia for many years, as well as many event goers. Rumour has it that supposedly the boss treats some workers terribly, to the point of death threats. An example relevant to theme parks would be that they did a show at Aussie World last year which received very negative reviews from attendees. Personally I don't think it'll be much of a problem in this case. Dreamworld is bigger in the public eye and I think both Dreamworld and the hired company really need the money so I'd suspect everything will go smoothly.
  17. And of course, Dreamworld has to hire one of the dodgiest monster truck companies in Australia.. Obviously interstate travel and work is difficult at the moment and a Queensland based company was most convinient, but if they waited and moved the starting date to later next year there would have been much better options available.
