  1. What if they were to replace it with something like the old Matterhorn/Flying Bobs ride that was at DW (Avalanche)? Could pick any of the characters in that villains area. Still a flat ride that won't take up much room. Could enclose it in something dark and make it somewhat "Scary". Would be something different but simple that they don't have anything similar to? Bizzaro tearing the place up or scarecrow taunting you before it starts saying you're about to feel the effects of his gas and then taunting you while the ride is going would be fantastic.
  2. I would say you're definitely on to something there. If I recall, SW already had Lego & MW already did Yogi I think. What really scares me though is Wizard of Oz is available on that list. It is highly plausible that they would do something stupid like put the Wizard of Oz 4D Experience on to go with the new land. Looney Tunes may not be a terrible option though and Speed Racer makes appearances at Hooray For Hollywood so they could potentially add it for something different? I would definitely be hoping for Super Pets though but I really hope they try and theme it well. I miss the Shrek Experience. I thought it was really well done.
  3. Only 2 years? That's very generous of you to think they'd do something so... "Quickly"? 🤣
  4. Surely they rename it to "Scooby Doo: The Next NEXT generation" ?
  5. I know there's a test seat (Thank you Sea World. I think all coasters should have one) but how have bigger riders found Leviathan so far? I'm right on the limit for Storm Coaster but can fit on there, does anyone think I'll have an issue for Leviathan? How forgiving are the restraints and which other rides are they similar to?
  6. Not that there's much debate that whatever this is will be Wizard Of Oz themed (1996 Twister can make some sense as well though and is owned by WB), however another bit of evidence seems to be almost a potential Mashup of the original sounds from the movie used? I didn't investigate too thoroughly but a quick skim through this video pointed to at around 29 seconds, 1 minute and 1:50 in this video, all mashed up would create the same sound used in the teaser. Including the build up, the loud wind gusts and that thunderous sound right at the end. https://youtu.be/RQWSh7Db-_E
  7. Cheers mate. Sounds like we're probably both quite similar in size then. I will have to just try it out with my son next time. My wife braved it in our last visit the other day with him haha.
  8. Yes it is, but I have a 6yo son who loves the ride and a wife who is petrified of roller-coasters haha
  9. I was just wondering if anyone had much experience with the new restraints for Road Runner since the refurbishment, and in particular how "large person" friendly they are. For size reference, I fit (tightly) in the back of Scooby Doo.
  10. Whilst I have no experience with being a character performer. I believe there are a few key things to probably look into/make sure you're doing. You may already be doing some or all of them, I only have a little bit of information in to what sort of training you receive but hopefully some of these suggestions might help. Your co-workers are your best source of information though. Speak to the seasoned veterans in particular. They'll be a wealth of information and tips and tricks. - Make sure you're stretching properly before and after each time you put the suit on. You're carrying a decent amount of weight for significant periods of time, so your body needs to be warmed up for this. - Can you wear shoes in the suit? If so, it's important to make sure you have a good pair of shoes on (possibly sports/running shoes might be good here) - Ensure you're drinking plenty of water. Keeping plenty of fluids in your body will be vital to help keep your muscles fresh and strong (Obviously don't drink to much water or the toilet will be your best friend haha). We all know those suits get very hot.. Good luck in a few months when QLD summer gets closer (Use these next few months to make sure you're well and truly prepared for that). - I don't know what your current physical condition is but running will be your best friend here as well. In particular endurance running. It's a fantastic way to keep fit and exercise so many of your muscles that will help with the suit but helping increase your overall endurance and stamina at the same time. - Lastly, actively going to the gym can help a lot as well. Strength and endurance training there will help you see huge benefits. As I'm sure you're well aware. Every movement you make in the suit is always very over exaggerated and more intense than how you would normally act day to day, so anything you can do to help strengthen and get your body used to using many of the muscles it's not used to (with extra weight as well) will greatly help. Good luck!
  11. When do we think we'll see the completion of this section? (or even the commencement haha). From what's been said here, it's safe to assume planning has been in place for possibly a couple of years now (obviously even longer when you include pre-planning for closing down AA possibly a up to a year or 2 before that). But for main planning, if it was at a stage where it was even allowed to be discussed at Town Hall in May 21, knowing a public leak could happen. Surely as we get closer to 12 months on from that meeting, we must be close to seeing some real action in that area and possibly even an announcement of some sort, right? I know COVID has probably significantly delayed things. But surely you'd have to think they're not far away from getting the ball rolling? Am I realistic in expecting an announcement in the coming months with a "July 2023" (School holidays)ETA, that will ultimately be delayed like SW Atlantis and revised to Summer school holidays 2023? Or are we not hearing a thing until SW is 110% finished?
  12. My son loves Boating school.. And to be fair, so do I haha..Although I smash my knees on it every time hahahaha
  13. My money is still on "Hooray For Hollywood Exhibit" or something. Celebrating 30 years of Movie World Magic.
  14. Whilst you're here @Bikash Randhawa I'd love to see this Q&A still go ahead Perhaps the admin team can put together a google form or something for questions to be submitted, anything inappropriate etc. can then be filtered out and then passed on to you Ps. Blink twice if a B&M coaster is replacing Arkham Asylum
  15. I really miss the Dreamworld Captain Stuart river boat show. As a kid growing up I LOVED it, and it was a must do every time I went to DW. I still preferred Police Academy at MW but it was still great. (Sorry this footage I found is TERRIBLE)
  16. The craziest part about this to me, is that obviously a considerably large amount of other people also waited about 5+ hours to do the same... I'm reaaally not looking forward to experiencing USA ride wait times when I get over there in a few years for the first time. I'll be making sure I have fast passes to at least ease the pain. I refuse to wait any longer than 45-60 minutes in Australia for a ride though.
  17. Oh wow, that's really interesting @DaptoFunlandGuy. That does make sense though. I'm 5"11; 130kg, I think I might need to get back down towards the 100-110kg range before I can really try and go on most coasters again lately I think, especially at DW it seems.
  18. Ah yep, fair enough @Brad2912. I remember my parents used to come on with me when I was a kid, and my mum would have been about 120kg and never got questioned. 90kg seems VERY steep though. I would have though 120-130 would be a suitable max weight if anything?
  19. Does anyone know how strict DW are on their weight restrictions? One restriction that baffles me is the 90kg limit for Escape From Madagascar (A Vekoma Steel Inverted Coaster). I know it's a Childs/Family Coaster but If they were to strictly enforce this, that would limit a large majority of Adults going with their kids wouldn't it? Can anyone please explain the reasoning behind it?
  20. You'd think a couple months should be more than enough time. I'll be there June 10th so fingers crossed!!
  21. You're exactly right. As cheesy & childish as it was, it's possibly the closest Australia has come to "the Disney experience"
  22. Just had a thought. Since Studio Showcase just finished. Do you think they'll do a "celebrating 30 years" temporary display in the same location? I think it's highly likely they still have A LOT of their old props, backdrops and in particular many of the old cars etc. used. Do you think we might see a throwback featuring things like: - Old parade floats (in partiuclar the daffy duck & Sylvester cars) - Old costumes (Character ones & things like Police academy ones) - Photos & videos of old rides & attractions - Old set pieces (facades from old shows & rides) I know I personally would love to see the cobs blown off a lot of the props & vehicles etc. which I'm sure Movie World probably still have a decent amount of, and what better way to give a brief non permanent nod to their past, and potentially a section about the future of Movie World? Or maybe they can remove stunt driver and bring back police academy forever.. If you haven't noticed.. I really miss the police academy show 🤣
  23. All the ones I can think of are already on the list. In particular Shrek 4D & Bermuda Triangle. 2 of my favourites there. I've seen far better these days thanks to YouTube, but for Australia, they were some of my favourites. Especially as a kid, Bermuda triangle pre-show videos and teeming were amazing for setting up the atmosphere.
