If this is true, then this looks amazing. Better than I expected. Looks to be up to standard with the big chains (Universal/Disney). I am very happy both Village and Coast are starting to get into the immersive land business.

One thing I hope will happen is the Scooby elevator gets painted over, it will be weird seeing a land with very immersive theming and there is a white rectangle in the middle of it.

Considering from the art they're covering the back of Superman Escape, covering Scooby is likely.

Entry host didn't do their job then lol. Only thing that's meant to go through the unload station is mobility aids etc. Anything too big to sit in the car shouldn't be let past the entry host at all.

I don't get it - what about their post made you lol?

Anyway, I've joined SDSC's queue in the past with no staff at the entry point.

  3. Quite surprised that the Tower of Terror building and Billabong are not going. I wonder if any of the Murrisippi is being reclaimed near the Vintage Cars (grey line is the paths by the looks of it), apart from Jungle Rush passing over it at one point. Maybe they will build a boardwalk over the water?

I really enjoyed DLP when I went. Loved the little areas to explore (didn't do them all) and I much prefer their Big Thunder Mesa, PotC and Phantom Manor over their Floridian counterparts. Space Mountain I found too different and I'm not a fan of coasters that just throw elements at you.

But still, great park. We went years ago and Indiana Jones was down.

Edit - also liked the steampunk aesthetic of Discoveryland - hope that hasn't gone too Star Wars since we went (2014).

Indiana Jones and the Temple of Peril is a one-trick pony with the little loop. The queue theming is good, but you're not missing much with the ride.
Discoveryland hasn't changed much, it still has a steampunk aesthetic. Hyperion Cafe, Orbitron, Nautulis, etc, haven't changed.

DW don’t currently have cougars at all. They did have a couple late 90s to early 00s. That area is just a BOH yard and has kept the name “cougar yard”

I have a memory of being near Central Station and seeing a Cougar scratching and spraying on a tree. The two handlers were keeping it on a solid chain, but it was pretty docile, happy to wander and spray. My memory was of a Mountain Lion, but it's probably the Cougar I'm thinking of. Google says they're in the same family, so easy to mix up.

Ok, so it wasn't until shortly before I went on this trip I found out they built an Avengers campus at WDS (For some reason I thought it was just Rock n Roller coaster being re themed with other stuff coming later)....Cool, means I don't feel guilty about skipping DCA!

My November '22 trip report mentioned this :P

Good to see you had a good time - I quite enjoyed Ratatouille, but haven't done any of the 'better' trackless darkies than this. The scenes under the trolley, the oven and the mop were standouts for me, bringing in smells worked well too..
I regret not waiting out the line for Crush's Coaster based on your description.

My guess would be by the end of the year and with install early next year. If the land is going to be as well themed as stated during the announcement, I suspect the coaster track will go up pretty early in the year to allow for all the theming to be constructed around it.

Two quick questions … The Wikipedia article says that the Sea World Monorail was closed in 2022. Somewhere else (I don’t remember where) I found the information that the last ride took place in 2020. Which one is true? Does somebody know the exact date of the last ride of Australia’s last monorail?

And second: I have read that one of the trains is still standing on the track. Is that true, or have all of them been removed by now?

Go back a page on this thread, one's still on the track. The monorail hasn't run since the Pandemic stated I believe.

the next area they’ll pay attention too is most likely the Villains Unleashed area. they clearly know Doomsday has little life left, so i won’t be shocked if they’re already planning for what is replacing that area.

I think the Wild West section is one of the least likely areas to be redone.

Maybe they should expand the Western area into the Doomsday area when it goes?

  10. The curious part of the mechanism talk just above, was the East side of GD having that partial drop before the actual release.

Back on the original topic, the only thing I get apprehensive about on big rides is how nauseous it would make me feel. My first time on DCR was during soft opening, and I did it backwards. Was more thrilling than scary when deciding to ride. Knowing the safety standards and stats doesn't give me any fear of a malfunction (the odds are so very small), so I only "fear" my physical reaction to the ride.

Last time I did ST I knew I'd not be able to do an immediate re-ride - so did SV in between. If I was peer pressured into a re-ride, I'd have fear of having to make maintenance come to the exit with a mop and bucket! :p
I'd fear carnival rides like Extreme Speed 2, No Limit and XXXL for this reason more than safety.

I mean, Movie World consistently themes their new attractions to the latest WB blockbuster, and The Flash just came out a few weeks ago before this announcement. So I'd say that's the thinking behind it.

With WOO, they're timing it well with the movie release. Flash, way behind - even if they were planning a December opening.

  12. No attraction will ever be added closer to Kopps Rd for two reasons - proximity to residences, and that whole area is a major flood point.

Back on the Flash topic, interesting theme for something that's not too fast in reality. Is there a reason they won't use the Titans? Licensing? Could theme it to Raven, Nightwing or Beast Boy.

  13. My spitballing post below is going on the assumption of the ride beginning facing forwards or backwards.

As for enclosed switchback, if the ride starts at the height of Billabong / Big Red Car, the enclosed turntable could be inside the ToT station building after completing some of the ride already.
For the story - if you're driving in an Aussie jungle, what's going to make you want to put the jeep into reverse? Cassowary? Crocodile? Rolling boulder? If the story is an "escape from", you could do the story at either the station if starting reversed (Leviathan), or the turntable if starting forwards.
