Australia's Wonderland, Wonderland Sydney? What happened? How could it have failed? The truth is not so complex. It was never meant to succeed once Sunway had made it's purchase - that was always the plan.
Sunway had purchased the Park for the sole use of capitalising on the land value. In terms of corporate gluttony - the process was actually cunning and decisive. Purchase the land without no intent to capitalise on the structure(s) in place. Recruit a youthful and idealistic management team who won't be prone to asking too many questions and simply breathe enough air into the old girl too hold her steady, while the Carr government and Malaysian Corporate giant finalise a deal for a multi-million dollar land sale at the cost of hundereds of local jobs. Place the blame on topical international and local economic pressures and walk away with lined pockets, knowing most will be too emotionally connected to the situation to have the real clarity of mind to see 'truth' or demand real answers.
There was no mis-management in this process, no great conspiracy. Simply a very pre-meditated robbery of a wonderful venue with incredible potential for the sake of off-shore profits that would also successfully reward key players within NSW.
The key players in senior roles were well rewarded for their deceit, both financially and one other with a successfully short lived senior role within the owners company. Seems devils will ultimately turn on themselves. But some were as they seemed - there is no doubt.
There were leaders within that company that fought for change and lost their hearts as others worked successfully to silence them into submission.
There were believers. Believers that knew with transparent leadership and coporate integrity - positive outcomes would be found.
Seems the dark outweighed the light in the final days of the Park that died much too early before it's time.
Every new beginning comes from an anothers ending.
To all of us who believed and worked through it - God bless.
