  1. For some weeks now I didn't post anyting over here, but I was a bit busy ;) Anyway, in July I made a trip to Europa Park, the biggest themepark in Germany with the highest rollercoaster of Europe! And ofcourse I had to make a nice video of this one! And here it is: http://users.pandora.be/coasterland/vids/s.../sistavideo.zip This video is made with microsoft moviemaker 2, so you need the right codec. If you have Windows 98 or older than you have to download this player to watch the video: http://www.tucows.com/preview/299014.html I hope you'll all enjoy the video!

  2. Anyway, as mentioned before, good luck with a Six Flags management in the future. It could be great, but also less great.   They are known to build great thrillrides, themed to the max, but coasters can be bold and dirty. Grand openings are a huge funfilled party, they're festivals rule bigtime, but maintenance can be awfull. Much depends on the people who work at the park, but remember they only get to use a limited budget.
Indeed, but still It's a big risk. Ofcourse we hope that Six Flags will keep WBMW goldcoast as good as it is right now, but the chance stays big it will go the same way as WBMW Germany. Anyway, if I could choose I won't choose for Six Flags to run the park.
  3. To get some conversation started..... Did you know that the Sling Shot up at Surfer's Paradise (went there last week, didn't get any photos, sorry) go's up to 160km/ph, can go up to 80 metres high, and experiences 6g's?
That sling shot I went on was not as fast as that. Only 110 km/h if I'm right. But it's a transportable version so it can't be to big. Anyway, I got 3 cousins (1 over here and 2 live in Australia) and they went on that one. They even got it on tape, so funny to see their faces :D
  4. He's riding SuperWirbel as well? Darn, that guy is going to be dead by the time he finishes. I'm sure I wouldn't be able to handle 8 straight hours of headbanging, although I would be able to handle Expedition GeForce :) Good luck to him! Gosh, things people do these days to get extensive ERT :P, ~Flea
Superwirbel was one of the smoothest vekoma whirlwind coasters. But in this season they replaced a lot of parts on the train, it looks like a modern Vekoma train now. But instead of making it smoother than it already was, the coaster became very rough. When I and 24 others were at Vekoma on june 26 (yes, we had a tour at Vekoma) someone asked about it. They said that some parts were not placed good enough, but with some small adjustments it will be as smooth as before again :)
  5. For the new promotion 'Dare To Be A DareDevil', 'scratchies' are handed out when getting your ticket/stamp to enter the park. I received five, and scratched them. Here's what I ended up getting.. - $10 off adult entry - $5 off child entry - 50% off adult Wonderpass - Free adult Wonderpass - Free adult Wonderpass I gave the other Free wonderpass coupon to Andrew, as I really had no need for 2. So now, my brother James will be getting a Wonderpass, just for the sake of getting one. So there, $135 will be staying in our pockets :) For those international visitors here, a Wonderpass is an annual pass to Wonderland. Thanks, ~A very happy Flea :)
Great you won that! Have much fun with it :)
  6. Which other kinds of thrills have you had??? Bungee jumping etc. Here 2 pictures of what I have had: 1028741487.jpg I'm the right person... This one is called the Bungee Bullet. Somewhere @ the Goldcoast they have one like this too if I'm right. mescaddiving.jpg And this picture of me falling was taken last week. It's a new kind of thrill called Scad Dive. They let you fall without any cables into a net. The free fall is 45 meters. The drop starts at 60 meters high. Very amazing this one! Do some of you have other pictures of yourself in such a rides?

  7. beetle, have you rode Goliath in SFMM? If so, which is better, GOliath in SFMM or SFH (If you have rode it there also which I am assuming you have)?
I've never been to the USA, so I don't know which is better. But a lot of the people of the ACE that went on the Europe tour say that the Dutch Goliath is much better.
  8. Goliath, had some minor structural problems requiring some of the supports to be strengthened (inference, not fact.  Perhaps one of our European guests could help :D ). I'm not against Intamin, they make some pretty cool rides, but my personal opinion is that they aren't reliable enough, and unfortunatly, the Intamin rides on the Gold Coast don't seem to go against that.  Plus to make things more confusing, the Gold Coast's Vekoma's, Arrows and in-house productions are more reliable. BTW, I was actually talking about the brake failure on S:ROS rather then the fat guy getting ejected: I just thought I'd put that under a broad "restraint system" heading.  Although, to be fair, Intamin isn't the only company to have had a station brake failure.
That's right, some had to be strengthened. But it was Intamin who tried to do something else with the supports. Not Werner Stengel as much people think. But some other coasters still have the supports as Goliath had before they were strengthened. They run without any problems. So Goliath just needs more strength then they thought.
  9. So what's it like to ride Beetle? Is fast and disorientating or sort of slow and forcfull? Are they very popular or are they too intense?
The first time for me was indeed very intense. Last time was 1,5 years ago I think. This year I hope to ride one again. I don't know for sure, but I think that the operator can control the ride bij 2 joysticks. The ride can go very fast and can get very disorientating. On funfairs here they give extremer rides at night then in daylight because of the small kids. And then the ride is not as good. When I get home today (I'm at school at the moment), I'll search some of my own and some other great photo's!
  10. Richard is again going to set a record (this time it will be in the Guinness), and he only gets a brake evry 8 hours. But what if he has to go to the toilet. A company called "Dixi" is looking for a solution. They are talking about some sort of construction. How will it look like.... Because we don't know yet I already tried to make one option :D;)rrjoke.jpg

  11. Yeah , when i went back in April it was the first time i saw and rode The Tarantula. Although it doesnt go upside down, its still a great ride, its got some wicked twists and swings on it, almost upside down. If anyone want to see photo's of our trip to Ratanga Junction just ask. Btw the park has some wicked Themeing.
Yes, that would be great! I would really like to see more of that park.
  12. Wow Beetle Coaster, I never knew that! They Started Constuction in 2000 I think it was, cause thats when i moved to Australia. The only downfall is that it doesnt go upsidedown  :x  Wonderland should get a new ride even if its just a ride like The Tarantula. ;)
I was very sad when the ride was removed. They replaced it by a Huss topspin, also cool, but you already see them a lot more. And although the wakiki wave didn't turn upside down, it's still a great ride! 1999wakiki2.jpg 1999, Last year it was over here :(wakiki1.jpg Me (the one in the right end) back in 1995, when the ride was new. And here one of tarantula where you still see some of the old colors! Now it's completely blue. tarantula1-big.jpg
