  1. Those free Darwin waterslides... How does operations work exactly? Do they let the public just go nuts or are they manned during certain hours of the day?
  2. Winner thread title. I didn't realise Dreamworks had a theme park in Australia? Looks awesome though.
  3. Boom, quoted for truth. Pretty sure when you're paying tens of thousands for a TVC you're going to give them a little bit of prior knowledge of what they're actually spending time creating for you.
  4. I wonder how long it takes to get that fire & rescue truck on-site, even in a drill? And do you think they'll need to utilise it even on the vertical part of the lift hill?
  5. The summer surprise will be Illuminate a brand new show unlike anything we've ever seen.
  6. That's the thing, there was absolutely no smoke when we were there for the entire day. I reckon it's a really super cheesy effect.
  7. Who's running Dreamworld these days? Clumsy Facebook Fans?
  8. On a side note, any one else notice the smoke in that video? wtf?
  9. At 0:35 seconds, the train would literally repeat that whole cycle again instead of coming back down the lift hill. As from what I could understand there was a fair bit of contention with doing a double cycle amongst operators and supervisors. Either because of the queue wait time, the lack of ride operation knowledge or the manufacturer yet to sign-off the ride to Dreamworld, whatever it was, there was definitely a "no double cycles" stigma during the first week or two of operation. As for now, who knows.
  10. The thought of more Facebook Fan Pages makes me say no.
  11. I think there's a lot to be said about BuzzSaw. I'll offer up some quick though: - Exteriors and design are well integrated into existing Gold Rush County. - Dumb placement. Could have replaced the Chairlift building and not feel like you're leaving the park when you walk to the ride. Silly, silly, willy. - Queue line is... okay. Nothing moves. Average static scenes with some occasionally flicking lights and some speakers around to boot. Q4U placement is, at best, confusing. I went in a week after opening and the queue line was already being scratched to bits by people carving their names in probably because they were bored out of their minds. Can't imagine how hot that building will be come summer. - The ride itself, while not smooth, definitely has a few jerks in the cycle, mainly from the lift hill. Once when you've come around full circle and you've come through the station, the transition between the gradient up and the vertical part of the lift hill is so sudden it whips you into the seat. Not only that but when the lift hill finally catches you the train's momentum stops before your natural momentum and there's a huge jolt back into the seat. - First time I rode I will admit I shat bricks when going upside down the first time. Those seats are already at a fair angle back, combined with just a lap bar, no seatbelt, and the feeling of a new manufacturer, I really didn't know what to expect. The best way I could describe the ride experience though comes down to doing the the standard cycle versus the double, extended cycle. Doing the cycle once gives the ride a definite "one trick pony" feel to it. Almost underwhelming but just passable. Going around twice though was strangely a lot more satisfying then expected. It would seem on the second go round the lift hill whips you upside down into the barrel roll faster, meaning you go up the lift hill far more on the way around and you practically go through a fair chunk of the barrel roll on the way back. After doing the double cycle I felt that I'd enjoyed the ride way more and got sufficiently knocked around enough to go try other things, instead of having to go back and do half a dozen single cycles.
  12. Well, i've been waiting for a few years now for the Eureka Mine RIde, and the circumstances being, well, it's closed. Thank god for Q4U though, i'd hate to be standing in line for that long.
  13. You know there's an app for that (in another thread.) Me personally would be three and a half hours for a ride on The Giant Drop. Why we did it, buggers me. This was back in the day where the ride was popular and they had all those amazing but totally useless, sticky, gum-covered buttons in the main holding area and there was no canopy between there and that big fibreglass pipe switchback.
  14. LOL @ Sea World disappearing. Last time I checked the next most likely to kick the bucket would be Aussie Zoo (even though personally, I'd really hate to see it go, it's an amazing complex.) http://www.sunshinecoastdaily.com.au/story/2011/02/21/zoo-in-crisis-ex-workers-critical-zoos-australia/ "...FORMER staff of Australia Zoo have reportedly spilled the beans on the tourist icon, with claims of mismanagement and a financial crisis which could see the facility collapse..."
  15. Ah! It all makes sense now. Sounds to me like you're taking sound advice from these jolly fellows. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TBiSI6OdqvA
  16. I'm sure we'd all love to read it. You should totally upload it.
  17. Oh, no sarcasm. I just figured they'd see it for the great idea that it is and would practically be paying for you to install this service in for them. By the way, how much is the app worth on the App Store? A buck, five bucks? I'm sure we'd all love to know how much we will need to pay or how you plan to make a return on installing numerous on-site solar panels and the obvious pain-staking, complex coding that makes such a great system work.
  18. If I could have a time machine.... Dreamworld after Cyclone opened but before Nick Central opened. (Thunderbolt, Kennyland, Tower of Terror skull on the right side etc.)
  19. Couldn't you just ask the parks if you could just wire into their mains? Surely they wouldn't mind, you're practically doing them a favour.
  20. Your app? It's clearly marked "Parkz" in Comic Sans AND in hot pink. But dude, seriously, chill-out, it's just a joke, if you took Parkz and life too seriously you'd end up like that guy who freaked out at the Fright Nights Preview... OH SHI
  21. OMG GUYS. I have an idea that could make Parkz MILLIONZ of dollarz! Teh Parkz App that tellz you about queuez and ridez while your in the parkz! (Too far, maybe?)
  22. Guys, guys, seriously, can't we just settle this over a beer at the Dirty Harr.... Oh shi
  23. Could you imagine their electricity bill? They'd need to buy a crapload of solar panels from Julia if those Disney 2012 rumours are true.
