  1. I dont think Jamberoo really goes by the competiton anyway; all their "water park" style additions in recent years are all what WnW has had in the past.
  2. You did give me the ride line up, but never anything about the themes.....
  3. This sounds excellent, its basically our 3rd major water park. But a couple of things, firstly, the Rocket is not mag-lev, it simply uses fast moving conveyer belts to move the rafts uphhill. Also, you mention a Tornado Alley, while there is a good chance this will be the same as the ones at WWW and WnW, it could very well be the actual alley slide, if you look on the Proslide website it is actually 2 mini tornados, with one leading into the other. I wouldnt mind seeing this, its something different. Also, any chance of you scanning in, or taking a photo of the article?
  4. Hey Matt, you missed one of the slides.... As for the orange and blue colours on the octo racer, the only things i could think of were the Telstra logo, a blue ringed octopus, Crash Bandicoot or a fanta bottle...
  5. Good review! So roughly how long did you wait for each ride on Tornado? is it the sort of ride you can do loads of times in one day.

    The Wii

Why??? Maybe, but i was thinking their goal was to make it easier because it uses natural movements which dont require the fine motor skills of manipulating a normal controller

    The Wii

Yeah, i havent done it for a while to focus on year 12, but i guess ill have a bit more free time by then to do stuff like that again.

    The Wii

Nintendo have just announced the Wii will be going on sale here on the 7th of December for $399. For those of you unfamiliar with it, there some stuff on the Nintendo website, and a nice video on youtube showing basically what it does ( ) This is definitley on my shopping list now, it looks like its going to be very fun to play, pretty innovative, and hopefully will be a sucess for them. My fingers are crossed they do a cricket game on it, lol imagine bowling. Was anyone planning on getting this?
  9. Looking good there Richo, I definitely agree with you about there being a timing/disqualification system on the racer, but one thing it should have is actual times (to nearest ms) and a display showing the best 3 times for the day. Also, with the entrance, do you think it was their intention to make the canopies look like slide segments. They look like crap IMO (sorry, but they do), i would have thought something in the style of the roof on the toilet blocks would have been better. And just another little thing, i have noticed large sections of the site have temporary fence, makes you wonder why they didnt just build the proper fence in the first place and just put the temporary ones where they are needed.
  10. Actually, in summer the pools arent heated, i had checked that last year before my trip up. Apparently the sun is sufficent. You dont get cold anyway. Anyway, IMO they should be using the roof of Outback Spectacular for a solar heating system (the side not facing the freeway) As long as the pipes were buried deep between the park and the roof and well insulated it could be quite effective.
  11. Just ask your mate a rhetorical question: "Listen [insert mates name here], out of you and me, who knows more about theme parks?" Just say that you know what you are talking about, and it wont be crowded. When i was there, everything basically becomes walk on when the movie starts (except for terror canyon), I lost count of the number of rides on Mammoth i did. This was pre H20 zone BTW so the lines for everything will be even more dispered. Just a question tony, does Extreme H20 stay open at night?
  12. Stunt fall is in Germany? IMO the one at Parque Warner would be just as bad, i think the fact it lacks hundreds of American enthusiasts whingeing means its problems probably go unreported.
  13. Its a nice little idea, especially since we can get the exact measurements, but the only place where we really have the density for "parks nearby" is on the Gold Coast. But im looking foward to these geographical features...
  14. Hmmm, while we are a bit behind, i wouldnt dismiss us completley, when TOT opened that was a ground breaking ride, and we still do have the tallest freefall, Superman Escape is up there with the best Accelerators, and they are the in thing at the moment. Even SDSC is one of the best wild mouse type coasters, if not the best. I cant see a 4D here like X or Ejanaika, im taking from the mouth of that IBM chief from years back, but the world market for 4D coasters is five, though we might see an intamin ball coaster, thats as close to a 4D as we're going to get. But i disagree, launch coasters do not suck, my favourite coaster is a Launcher, and i dont see how running costs are an issue, as long as the park is profitable. But anyway, if the launch is running for 8 seconds and it can at best do 30 cycles per hour (ill assume it runs 8 hrs/day) then 8*30*8 then the LIMs are only on for 32 minutes a day, at best.
  15. Just a question, how are the attendants at the top of mammoth able to see people standing up. It was embarrassing when i was there, it was at night and TWO rides in a row i was with groups that stood up, though luckily they didnt kick me off. It seemed odd because i thought you could only see basically the first turn from the starting tub.
  16. Certainly very youthful, it looks pretty good, though i dont like the dogs on it.
  17. It has actually happened on one of the American ones http://www.gatago.com/rec/roller-coaster/19943960.html and people did get hurt. The problem is when the raft is at the very top of its oscilation, the only force on it is downwards by that point as the wall cant apply the centrepital force at that point. So if your raft gets beyond that halfway mark it will basically drop off, but as you can see the slides are now designed that they cant physically get enough energy to get to dangerous heights.
  18. Yes, i heard about that, the University of Melbourne is due to complete their 5 year study into what is the most exiting waterslide, but we wont see if this belief is true until around December this year. You mean before the Extreme H20 zone opened there was a waterpark here that was bigger than WnW? Yeah, like the Rocket, The Bowl, The Flowrider, Octopus Racer, MASSIVE play structure, boogie board wavepool, oh wait WnW doesnt have those. However, we DO have Speed Slides and Freefall slides, a dark slide in a two person raft, An open raft slide, oh wait the gold coast has had/has those rides already. Still, at least WnW is hitting one thing on the head, capacity
  19. I think GoGoBoy makes a good point. I made a little collage of just a few of the things i found on the website. Now im not a prude, but you have to wonder about WnW. For the record, i liked the TV ad, it had great camera work and properly showed the rides in a really good way. Also, is it just me, or does the arrow background pattern they show on the website remind anyone else of a solution curve?
  20. HeHe, it seems like a similar style site to the Superman one, so obviously going for the teen market again. Its kind of funny though, being in that market myself I can safely say that only a small minority are actually into BMX or the sort of music they are playing...
  21. No offense ShadowShadi, but often your posts seem short and pointless, it would have been better if you said a bit more, and posted this here http://www.parkz.com.au/forums/in...?showtopic=2621 since that is where it was already being spoken about.
  22. Im hoping they do as i think having the word "spaceshot" on the end kind of makes it sound crap. While we can immediatley see the connection, i think it would sort of sound silly to the public as 'space' is not something you associate with batman, and 'shot' makes it sound like a weapon of some sort and well, it sounds plain weird to have a model name in with the ride. I thought the initial whisperings of "Batwing: The Flight" sounded much better.
  23. I thought the GC was very, very dry and desperatley needed rain though.
  24. Ill bet you that the four slides in the play area will be red, yellow, blue and purple. I am certainly hoping that they boost the capacity fairly soon after the opening as i feel that the park lacks capacity, coupled with being the gold coasts biggest new attraction for this summer could mean horrendous crowds. But I agree with richo, they have probably left deliberate holes in their lineup so they can fill in later, and most likley better WnWs equivalent offerings (Bigger Extreme H20 style area anyone?). While at the same time they have hit the nail on the head with some of the key offerings (2 kids areas, both far bigger than WnWs offering, coupled with known characters could really pull in the essential family market)
  25. You could make him go on a ride that lasts for ages right at the start, and then have a really long fireworks.
