  1. You probably weren't leaning into the curves and lying down with your shoulder blades and heels on the slides, you can make any slide exciting riding like that
  2. Brackets, not harnesses.... Anyway, I think they might have been there as a 'just in case' measure, for example if the launch system was unable to cope with the load. It is not particularly uncommon for coasters to have provisions for future changes. The best example that springs to mind is the block brake brackets that were built into cyclone: http://www.roller-coaster.com.au/gallery.p...d=1&image=9 Another example is those infamous "trim brakes" on B&Ms, i had trouble finding a pic of a vacant spot where they hadn't been installed , but often the track spine has holes to allow the attachement of these brakes later on in the coasters life. http://www.rcdb.com/m/ig735.htm?picture=22 And LOL, did you re-upload the image, in the galleries there is a thing you can click called "link to image", its better than wasting bandwidth.
  3. Well, I looked through windows calendar and compared with the dates given on the R-C database, with DWs last few things the days have been: WWW - Friday Flowrider - Saturday Dorothy's Rosy Teacup Ride - Saturday Big Red Car - Saturday The Claw - Saturday So bleh. Ill say it will open when full speed testing is finished (what's the go with that anyway?)
  4. Here is my entry, Wild West Twister. WildWestTwister.zip
  5. Haha, that is pretty old, the ride has actually been superseded by Maverick, the parks next big coaster: http://www.rcdb.com/m/ig3570.htm
  6. A bunch of TPR people have worked through it if you feel like short cutting through the clues, http://www.themeparkreview.com/forum/viewt...c&start=310 One of the clues was a puzzle:
  7. Oh, sorry, I thought you were talking about the slides having actual thematic elements (which I was talking about, none of the rides at WWW do). With the example you gave, BRO and The Green Room are beachy enough with their names....but SuperTubes Hydrocoaster I struggle to see what that has to do with the beach, I remember from the WWW website there being some contorted story that made no sense, about a river dredging project, but anyway moving on. IMO having a name related to a certain idea doesn't make a ride themed, It would be like saying Thunderbolt had a storm/severe weather theme because of it's name. But yeah, I can imagine a beachy, or at least a water related name, they would sort of have to since that is the way their marketing efforts go.
  8. It would be easier if you just zipped up the building area and posted it in this thread. Oh, and just a tip, when posting images, do them as jpgs to avoid a massive file size.
  9. I dont think they will have any 'theming', none of the other WWW rides have any.
  10. That really is a tough call. SE and California Screamin' are both fantastic rides, TOT is just "OK". But I have found all the B&Ms I have ridden to all be excellent (even Batman was the only one to have proper theming) I'll say B&M though, Just because Tatsu and Batman were both awesome rides, as was Riddlers. If I was going to judge by the ones I haven't ridden, B&M would still be my favourite because of rides like Nemesis, Dueling Dragons, Black Mamba, SheiKra etc.
  11. ^Are you being sarcastic? Meh, its OK (as in just ok) does the job, colour choices are pretty terrible though.
  12. Jeeze, 38% and 46% operating margins for DW and WWW respectively! Where the hell are the big rides?
  13. Wow great update! Was this tour just with R-C? Its nice that DW have decided to allow something like this, I have always thought it was a bit of a shame this sort of stuff has been kept behind closed doors even though there are plenty of people interested. So with the restraints, its like the front end is a huge B&M style clamshell that covers your whole lap. But with the back part, you say that the black thing tilts into place behind you, I keep getting this mental image of people getting knocked in the side of the head by it as it moves 90 degrees. And once everything is down does the L shaped thing then get pushed in to touch your back? I think it is odd though that they decided to have the 2 side cars at the back of the train as that is the most forceful spot (concept art suggested the center 2 seats) I'm also wondering about train maintenance, It looks to be a bit difficult if they were going to do it in that tiny little storage area beside the station. Except for wether the theming is any good
  14. Well personally, I think "WB Kids Zone" would have made more sense since it could have tied in with the show filmed at MW. But anyway, MW has quite often given pretty bland/weird names to rides, what has changed
  15. You could always just wait a couple of weeks till that first wave of people quit, and then apply then for a ride op position, they also have a second wave of hirings closer to summer. Personally I wouldn't have the desire to do much else for seasonal work other than operations since that is the only job that is really unique or interesting...F&B work would already be available closer to home, and at least you wouldn't have that guilt of overcharging for meals And DW-Rulz, how did the move to Brisbane go? Did Hird and Sheedy leaving Essendon give you no reason whatsoever to remain in Melbourne
  16. Ah well, the common director explains a lot then, thanks. I guess a Dixie Stampede on the GC would have made sense too, it would have fitted right in with the tourist trap franchises currently there.
  17. While doing some research on Orlando, I came across an animal based dinner show attraction (there are actually 4 locations) called "Dolly Partons Dixie Stampede" ( http://www.dixiestampede.com/ , http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Dixie_Stampede ) It seems our Australian Outback Spectacular seems to be based on this concept (which is entirely possible considering the Dixie Stampede first opened in 1988...John Menzies from reportedly hatched the idea for AOS in around 1997 ( http://outbackspectacular.myfun.com.au/The...ohn-Menzies.htm ) But there were a few things that stuck out to me as being very similar, Have a look at the show footage video on the official site http://www.dixiestampede.com/showtime.php# , there are some really wierd similarites, (I spotted kids chasing chickens, packs of horse riders carrying the national flag, carriage races etc) What do you think?

  19. I am confused as to the original point you were trying to make. Who else would pay for the wheel? What do the other theme parks have do with this at all? Did you think theme parks were paid for by the government or fairies or whatever?
  20. I thought it was the other way around, often with large construction projects the contractors can face penalties for failure to meed deadlines. So DW could actually pay less if delays were sever enough. What you are suggesting isn't really correct, are you saying builders could charge people more because they are the ones going slowly? Of course, the contract would probably also have provisions for bad weather or unforseen events.
  21. ^Yeah, the sidecars will be in the 4th and 5th rows on the right hand side of the train (if the images posted from the media launch on ozcoaster are accurate)
  22. Well, I think the reason it is going in is simply to give an anchor to the Waterfront city development, now I as much as anyone would have liked to have seen the Paramount movie theme park proposal go through, but unfortunately this was the development proposal that was accepted, the fact they even opted to incude a wheel in the proposal is better than nothing considering it could have just been another apartment tower. But as for saying we are copying London, well big wheels have been huge in Japan for ages, and there are a few others around (One is going up in Dubai from memory) Hopefully at some point in the future a developer has the vision for a good park in Melbourne. Are you saying ING (The developer of the Southern Star Wheel) should donate the money to DW or whoever?
  23. It basically bugs me when people use no effort though, clearly Churros has done nothing wrong, its just one word he didn't know properly. But if it's something like this: Where it hasn't even been proofread and you have to look at it a couple of times to work out what the words are meant to be and what its trying to say because there is no punctuation then that is annoying. Though one thing that really annoys me though is when people (and I have seen this plenty of times on here) write "I seen" instead of "I saw", its bad enough people use that sort of grammar when speaking, but to type it is complete joke. Next people will be writing stuff like "I aksed a question" because that's how they speak.
  24. You mean info Intamin would want to keep quiet
