Maybe people could answer your question if you didn't give such a vague description of the room, what did it have in it? where was it in the house? what did it look like?

A few pics of what has been done so far on the station were posted in another thread ( http://www.parkz.com.au/forums/in...?showtopic=3528 ), but Ill put some them here for simplicity's sake since this is where everyone else is talking about the ride. As for my thoughts, It's ok, looks presentable, but I seems as if they are taking the approach where they will sort of do random stuff that somehow relates to the racing theme (Eg painting walls in chequered patterns) rather than a more realistic approach that is more immersive (Eg making the buildings look like the ones found at an actual race track) -
The silent room was the room you went in to. The white room is probably in some separate building, or simply not open to the public.

Kain, welcome to roller-coaster.com.au, But please, be considerate of others and use correct spelling and grammar so people find it easier to understand what you are trying to say.

Woah, great effort. Pretty cool, but as you requested, here is some advice. -Launch is WAY too powerful, I wont bore you with the calculations, but to do 0 to 100 in 2 secs would require your launch force to be set at 1.6 g If you want, consider using a transport segment rather than a lift hill as it behaves a little more realistically than a lift hill segment. If you wanted you could make a simple long thin rectangular 3d object and put it on the track to make it look like the launch cable. -There seems to be an odd little S bend between the car crash scene and the launch which doesn't exist in real life. -Also in the preride section the two back to back u turns (first u turn is the flood, second is the car crash) make the s bend between the turns less severe. The way it is now the track bends quite a lot, Make it more like that first little s bend in the ride where the gas mains are, in terms of tightness if you get what I mean. -Maybe look at reshaping (tighten the peaks a bit) the two airtime points so they produce -1 g as experienced in the ride -Make the trains yellow, not red, and perhaps use a darker shade of blue for the supports. -In the main part, its pretty much spot on, I think the main reason for 100m in extra length is because the layout is slightly larger in scale than the real thing. The only way I can think of fixing this is to save the whole high speed part of the ride as one premade element, then put it back in but scale it down a tad. This is the best pic I could find, and I manually added on the scale by comparing with the map image. Fixing this might not be too hard acutally, since you have the hard part right, all it would require is redoing the dark ride section to match up, which could be done really easily. -Do custom supports on the airtime hills if you really want it accurate and feel like doing it, the R-C galleries can help But I mean to date you have done an awesome job, you clearly know what you are doing, and since you have said you are updating the ride I can't see you having much trouble in getting it really accurate. Also, if you are re-doing the 3D objects, make the tunnels a little less narrow, In the real ride they are actually fairly wide and have a walkway on each side of the track.

I had always thought it was a breach of trade practices to advertise something at a certain price and then lump on an unavoidable extra charge. There is no way tickets could be gotten for just $20 so why be deliberately misleading? -

^The airtime will be akin to going over a speed hump too fast But I wonder why they couldn't put equal emphasis on speed and forces, SE manages to do that perfectly (Except for perhaps the crawl over the top hat). I don't think it would have been hard to shape a couple of the high points with a long flattened parabolic curve, so that the train would keep it's pace, but give a good dose of floater airtime (in keeping with the fact it is a family ride) I think the positive G forces on all the turns would actually be worse for families. I'm going to clear this up now, the ride will have an inline station set up like Superman, _not_ a parallel set up like Storm runner. In the theme park world, it is, dont forget that. In the scheme of things, it's a fair bit for what they are getting. If the budget was just 60% more they'd be spending the same amount as TOT. But this thing is a fairly simple layout without high supports. -

^Ah but that is the Vekoma version, so it'd be rough as hell compared to our Intamin. -

OK so I think we have established stardust was half asleep when she made that post Moving on, this article was in todays Herald Sun: I still have no idea how the hell they can say this ride has 18 turns though I guess we can expect something to keep you occupied in the queue though with the historical information they mention, a good move compared to the other DW attractions. -

Yes they do, I have been at the park when this has happened, plus people on the previous page have said about what happens, what planet are you on? -

Ok I think we have an answer! Intamin actually do have another coaster that uses this system: Galaxy Express 999 I had always thought this ride had used a magnetic launch (Since it was their last launch coaster they commisioned before they began manufacturing Accelerators, and also because RCDB used to list it as a magnetic launch) , but it turns out it is a tyre launch but the tyres are driven by hydraulic motors rather than electric motors. Pics: http://www.rcdb.com/ig3138.htm?picture=6 http://www.rcdb.com/ig3138.htm?picture=5 -
That's crazy, imagine the strength in those arms and the amount of torque those motors would need, reading the comments though, it was actually the one and only ride the manufacturer ever sold. My personal favourite carnival ride is "Eurostar": Onride POV:

^So basically, you wouldn't allow any methods that would work

I personally think they should have done the arcade as a sort of continuation of the Matrix theme after the closure of the exhibit. The franchise isn't exactly hot property anymore, and the films all had that computery theme. It could have had an interior in a similar style to the matrix exhibit, call it something like "The Zion Arcade". Maybe they could have enticed people in there by just putting a few static displays of some of the Matrix props from the exhibit in glass cabinets on the walls (Just like in a theme restaurant) Though, I guess in a way what they are doing could be thought of as having a "Showbiz" theme, make it a little less circusy and it would be ok. Also, I personally wouldn't be to opposed to them cutting back the wild West themed area just so some of these things they are putting down this end make a bit more sense

I thought the reason TOT shuts was simply because 160km/h in the rain hurts like hell. Nah, the brakes are at the end of the ride. Thing is though the launch leads straight to the highest point of the ride. I would imagine even if it stopped up on that high point it could still crawl through the rest of the circuit by gravity. -

Yeah, but I mean CP opted to use LSM on Maverick so it cant be all bad. All launch systems have some way to mis-launch. I think though now, we can expect a fairly steady launch, it wouldn't be possible to do something like that wonderful burst of acceleration on SE simply because the wheels wouldn't grip. I looked at a few youtube vids, it didn't seem to be that loud, though it would be best to ask someone like Tony, Richo or Rabid who have ridden on the Incredible Hulk Coaster. Though thinking logically all it is is wheels pushing on a surface, it wouldn't be much louder than say the wheels of a truck on a road. Acceleration wise, Hulk reaches 64 km/h in 2 secs. -

BMW 5 series for me. But I had always thought that tyre launches were a more expensive way of doing things, there is only one ride out there that uses it, and the only reason it was built was because B&M were forced into it. I thought that alone would sort of show that there were better way of doing things. One idea I have been wondering about is whether the tyres would be somehow linked by a cable, which would be wound by a hydraulic motor. That doesn't really make sense to me though, there are more than 30 coasters operating with magnetic launches, I don't think it would have fallen into such wide use if it were having major issues. -
That is the one at the Adelaide show grounds. It was actually my first coaster, rode it when I was 5.
-
I can totally see what this has to do with movies.
-
Go for the early entry, it is worth it as you can get all the main rides done within an hour.
-
^So what happens when the queue gets up to the top where the station is?

Haha that's crazy, I have no idea what advantages a tyre launch has on any other system, it's a very inefficient way of doing things IMO, not to mention the wear and tear on the tyres. I wouldn't mind having them visible as it would be funny watching them labour to launch each train. Has much been done theming wise? -
Maybe we could see a separate queue area (and raft storage area) near the splash pool for the bowls and rafts of a different colour, and when people reach the split in the stairs the right hand staircase could be dedicated to the bowls and the left one for broken headz, cut snake and right handers. The top platform would be divided off in some way to keep people where they should be. Doing this could avoid problems where people try and crowd only the bowls. The "Rip" is red and purple though

I think inside the Cyclone structure with a portal somewhere near the food outlet and gift shop would have been a better place for this. An advantage would have been that the catering facilities would have been able to share back of house facilities with the WWW and Ocean Parade food outlets.

^Thats wierd, so does that mean to board the ride you actually go in through the door on the other side of the station instead of lining up in groups of 4 in that hallway with the flashing lights. Does it also mean that you enter the ride through the shop? I guess one idea behind it could be to give people plenty of time to admire WWW while queuing up for Cyclone (could encourage people to visit it if they see people having fun next door) I guess its better in a way because you could watch cyclone running instead of being stuck in a room looking down at that turbine thing. Or maybe efficiency has sunk to a new low and they need the extra radius of the outside ramp to hold more people .
