  1. myk, if you are after some pics of a Motorbike coaster see: http://www.rcdb.com/ig2747.htm http://www.rcdb.com/ig3418.htm http://www.rcdb.com/ig2949.htm Bear in mind this is the Vekoma version, I have yet to see any pics of the Intamin one (well, it is a prototype) And Chaos, that was the sort of thing they could try, going under the TOT would be a bit hard since there isnt much clearance, but I could imagine it passing over quite easily, perhaps doing a helix around the tower. I suppose going over the water is possible too.
  2. Well, I think the Eureka site is out because its a launched coaster so it needs a fairly long launch zone as well as wide turns and IMO the eureka site can really only fit a compact coaster. Ideally the site would be fairly linear and an idea I have had for a while is the model T lane area with a sort of out and back layout. Also, i think its going to be entirely different to Superman, we have to remember that they were orignally going for a mine train so obviously their market research told them the ride would have to appeal to a family audience, given that I cant imagine it being pushed as something scary etc, just thrilling and fun.
  3. LOL well, i guess you can't please everyone... Though Joz, i dunno if you are being serious or not, but does Intamin actually have an office/rep in Australia? And secondly, should we expect a September opening?
  4. Can i change the order of that post Im not complaining though, a second Accelerator for Australia sounds awesome and It will be interesting to see how Intamin approaches the problem. Im putting down a bet now on a Rita style layout to give that racetrack feel, but with a sort of family oriented layout.
  5. I say just go on it, you might get some water in your face, but it wont hurt you and you will probably be having too much fun to care I think with the BRO the tunnels are about the same as the ones on twister at WnW so if you are ok with them you'd be ok with this.
  6. I dont know why you wouldn't ride the green room anyway, I mean its a ride, its fun and its there so why not get your moneys worth? WnW has a wave pool and a raft slides too but you wouldn't want to skip Huey or the CoW either. LOL slides arent a resource you need to ration, when you get there you will have time for everything...
  7. Well, i guess it comes down to quality over quantity which is why I prefer MW. DW does indeed have more rides, but most of them are flat rides which I'm not really in to, i like the full on experiences MW does. And for the record, I have no interest in BB so that isn't an important factor for me, that and the fact you cant ride on BB Its locked up half the time for filming and you cant even get anywhere near, and while they do have house tours I dont find them paticularly interesting. If I wanted to walk around a modern house and not be allowed to touch stuff I would go to a display home village.
  8. Well, i dont know if "plural" was the best word to describe what i meant. When talking to one person: "you are funny" When talking to many people "you are all funny" But you dont say: "yous are all funny" If anyone can be bothered look here http://en.wiktionary.org/wiki/you As for this roughness debate, i dont think there will ever be a definitive answer, your either someone who likes the wildness of the ride and thinks it adds to it, or someone who finds it uncomfortable and thinks it detracts from the ride. But, i have a question for tha first group: "If the ride was smooth would the ride be worse?"
  9. But then its not really Wonderland, except for the Pirate ship thing by the lake.
  10. You still could do it probably. When my mates have gotten be to bring it over they have all picked up and played it straight away (And have beaten me a few times). Maybe just look for some Wii Sports FAQs ( www.gamefaqs.com is a good place to start) to learn some tips/tricks and you could make a go of it.
  11. When I was there MW was in far better repair than DW, DW had the afformentioned chewing gum collections, litter lying around (and this is was in the morning so it would have had to be not cleaned from the previous day), bad paint jobs etc. Theres also other factors too, the food is better at MW, there is less blatant commercialisation (such as temporary stalls selling wax hands and tatoos, that RCT style hot dog stand, the main st water feature being used for model boats), MW runs their rides better and more efficently (maybe the reason you get the rides done so fast at MW is because you arent spending so much time stuck in queues like you would at DW), and of course there is the whole theming thing which MW excells in. And for me MW was a full day for me, rides like SDSC and SE are very re-rideable.
  12. Velo, dont worry about the weather. Australia is sunny, and even though March is the raniest month, it is still not all that rainy. Chances are it will be mostly dry. Its not like March is a month where it just pours down every single day, you will be fine. The month is quiet because its school term and because it isnt summer. And White Water World will be worth it, everybody seems to love it, and its got some very interesting and unique rides, and the "BRO" slide sounds like just your thing, you go on mats at 70km/h, racing against 7 other people, and each lane has a 360Ëš spiral tunnel followed by 3 dips you can get lift off on. And Okguy, I'd say DW can be done in a day quite well. Since you dont like animal exhibits thats the whole back section of the park you can skip. Do Cyclone, GD and TOT first thing in the morning, maybe thunder river too and the rest of the day just do the rest. I went in peak season and only spent one day there (even though i had a 2 day pass) and even then i had ventured into the wildlife bit and wasted time on the big red car ride.
  13. Since you are visiting in March one day is probably enough for each. But for what you are planning to do I'd recomend getting both a Super Pass and a World Pass. The Super pass will give you unlimited and unrestricted entry into Seaworld, Movie World and Wet'n' Wild for the duration of your trip (the pass actually lasts 14 days) so if you come across a park you really enjoyed you are free to return. The World pass gives you two days (But your second day visit can be as much as 14 days after your first) entry to both dreamworld and white water world (this park is worth putting on your itenerary) Since you are visting all these parks these passes work out cheaper anyway, but you get the added flexiblity of being able to return, and then it doesnt really matter about how many times you will visit because you will be able to decide at the end of each day. But I mean, people say Movie World is a one day park, but i liked it so much i decided to go back again. I also went to Wet n Wild twice so ultimatley it is up to you and what you found fun.
  14. I thought it looked lie Tiggerâ„¢ had lost balance somehow and wanted to avoid falling over and accidentaly hit the kid while flailing. But there was nothing in it, the kid wouldn't have even been hurt.
  15. This has been said before, but this is a theme park DISCUSSION site, there is nothing wrong with talking about the way we would like things to be etc. Sure, these discussions might not make a difference, but look at things such as the Letters to the Editor page in the paper or talkback radio programs, its just people saying what they think even if not many people are listening. Its as if some people would rather there be no conversation here at all. Oh, and also "yous" isn't a real word, the plural of "you" is "you"
  16. Ok, heres a genuine question I have about MW. Do the park and the neigboring studios collect rainwater off the huge expanses of roof that they have?
  17. , but we do want to ride it, and I will ride it regardless. We just want it to be more comfortable.
  18. I have always wondered what educational value a lot of these school trips hold, i can imagine the SW one has merit for students doing biology, and the DW one for students doing Physics. But really, it seems like these activity trails are pretty light on the educational content, and essentially reading comprehension in the context of a theme park. Kids can do highly educational activities such as: -"Write a newspaper headline to describe your exursion so far" -"Draw the batman emblem" -"Create a tombstone obituary for yourself (at boot hill)" -"What is the spookiest part of the ride for you and reflect on why (SDSC)" -"What is the minumum height of riders (At Roadrunner) -"Draw the trajectory of the ride in 3d (LW)" But in paticular, i love this. Firstly, read their rather exciting sounding description of their programs: Pretty casual lauguage you might say. But look how the tone changes when asked about the educational merit of one of their programmes: Whoever is responsible for spinning that crap deserves a medal.
  19. LOL, sorry, you had said "A couple of friends and I are planning on going up to Dreamworld" I had assumed you were from one of the southern states. In that case there is no real worry then (Its not like you are wasting a holiday), anytime from now onward is pretty much OK.
  20. Why, will doing so release evil spirits or something? Building a carpark is quite a cheaper option compared to building and then running/maintaining a monorail. Going by this page: http://www.monorails.org/tMspages/HowMuch.html a short 800m long loop (im just estimating using the google maps scale) would cost around $4mil AUD if you went with the Intamin model listed. Yeah, but it would be just as long of a walk for those walking to the new bit within the park/
  21. Ah Well, I guess the point of this whole deviation in the topic is that space is there if they desperately need it (They would need to have used up all the other areas around the park, eg between WWF and LW for example). Were talking several years down the track, and by then that whole WTPV precinct could be very different making it viable. But in the meantime they dont have to worry.
  22. Im just waiting for Richos review on this (no pressure mate, do it when you have the time). His review of SE basically mirrored what I was thinking, and of course written in that sort of unbiased, intellegent sounding way.
  23. Just out of interest, has anyone done the nooby sort of thing and emailed the park about wether it will re-open?
  24. Yeah, thats basically what I was thinking, im suprised you put so much effort into the photoshopping . Well, the amount you would rip up/rebuild on just depends on what you need to do. But its just a photoshop pic so its not like its exact or anything, just an approximation. Personally I dislike the monorail idea, i'd rather have the park in one big block rather than spread out, it gives a better feeling of leaving the everyday if you go into a park and sort of lose sight of the outside world (The best example of those who do this is Disney). If you go spreading it out you lose this sort of feeling and the area ends up feeling isolated. Yes, you could have a path leading there, but were talking something longer than main street here. You would have to have a lot of shops to fill in the space, and there is only a point to which this could be done before you start competing with yourself and spreading yourself thin. And lets face it, it would be a long and boring walk to get to this sort of out of the way area. Its also what DW did when they built WWW. In fact the whole situation mirrors what DW did 12 months ago in order to accomodate WWW. As djsupersleuth said, use a bit of common sense. Yes and to build a monorail you would have to do ground preparations too, not to mention actually putting in an order with a company to design and manufacture the monorail components/track, and on top of that other related infastructure (stations etc). LOL its not like RCT where you can put in a "Transport Ride" straight away... A carpark on the other hand is a simple affair that could be done in a couple of months.
  25. Ah yes, Dazzeland...My only visit was when I was around 5 but can still remember it. The main attraction was the "Jazz Junction" which was a musical themed Zamperla powered coaster that did a lap of the floor the park occupied, and as such was quite high above the lowest floor as it was just void in the center of the complex, the height factor sort of scared me off. There was also an airplane ride and a helicopter ride (Similar too dora the explorers sea planes at Nick Central) Other attractions included dogems, a Mexican themed mini golf course and a medieval themed soft play structure (My personal favourite at the time as it had one of those spiral slides, and the obligatory ball pit) Is there anything i have missed?
