One thing I noticed from that article is that the wheel has had a bit of a design change. If you look at the rendering it has 8 spokes, but in the Diagrams it has 7 spokes (which makes sense and is a good idea given it is called "The Southern Star, the fact it is supposed to have 21 pods would also work with the 7 spokes evenly) Also, in the rendering you can see the loading area was going to be a big river pebble shaped thing, but at the Information Center it has all been updated, and it will just be a fairly ordinary looking modern building (reminded me of a ski lift station since on one side it had a sloping wall) and this building will contain an arcade etc.

Couldn't you just put heaps of spin on the ball and aim for the back so it stays in? Lets not forget this junk: http://www.roller-coaster.com.au/gallery.p...61&image=11

With arcades, I was actually surprised to see one in Tommorowland at DL, the fact people would bother with it amazes me, to me the idea is to get the best value out of your ticket as possible by seeing lots of unique rides and shows, not waste time with arcade games you could just play at your local shopping center. I personally dont have a problem with Arcades or Midway games, just as long as they aren't obtrusive and fit in wit the area. I hate the ones in Goldrush at DW because they use brightly coloured balloons and prizes...it should be something like a shooting gallery, or a ball toss with themed rusty buckets etc. Arcades are OK if they theme the interior and entrance and use some other means to draw people in other than the sight of machines or else it destroys the ambience of the area.

^Sorry, but along with pointless posts, that is one of my pet peeves. When people have updates they will post them. Don't pester people, they don't need reminding. The whole point of this topic is for discussion of the construction of the coaster, and if you haven't noticed people such as Churros, Richard etc have been posting up pictures when they have them avaliable, its not as if they would think "oh look, the coaster is testing, but I wont tell anyone" Obviously if people haven't posted anything, then there isn't anything worth posting. Edit: You can pretty much answer your own question anyway, look at the posts in this topic, and the main page of R-C, if you can see with your eyes pictures you haven't seen before then you are looking at a new update. -
I suppose this would be true if there was no other space for ride/shows, but MW is not at that point yet since there are plenty of other spots for rides so there is no reason arcades and new rides cant co-exist. The profit thing is true, I have been told that the arcade at DW rakes in seven figures annually.

This was from yesterdays Herald Sun (and about the 100000th time they have used "wheel of fortune" as the heading)

Dracula's Haunted House on the Gold Coast

Fair enough, but I mean they should do something to it to make it look old and dilapidated rather than just plain material. -

Dracula's Haunted House on the Gold Coast
Gazza replied to crazy mary's topic in Theme Park Discussion
Obviously its still construction at the moment, but will the doors leading in to the house be dressed up a bit, that demon thing looks cool but the bare timber and steel could be spruced up a bit. And DW rulz, I think you can buy the dolls, everything on that rack seems so have little white pricing stickers if you look closely. -
Arrgh, stop yelling!

It is gwtting a bit old, but I think it is still ok. The rattles and loud noise have been there since day one, and replacing the track wouldn't change anything, it stems from the nature of the track system. As for the launch system, I have heard of what you are talking about, was it sort of accelerating, then cruising at a high speed before speeding up a second time? It was probably a 'one off' type incident and nothing worth replacing the electromagnets for.

Sorry about the title, but I was just wondering what parks out there people have on their "to do list" and one day hope to visit. For me at the top of that list is all the parks at Walt Disney World (Done Now) (MGM studios, Animal Kingdom, Magic Kingdom, EPCOT) though the Disney park I would like to most visit is Disney Sea because it seems to combine Disney's absolute best of the best in one park. But for the other parks out there, you could basically sum it up as being theme parks with strong theming and B&Ms (a crude way of putting it, but the parks I want to see for some reason fill both these categories) So they would be: -Alton Towers (Basically for Nemesis, but I'd love to see the older parts of the park like the towers) -PortAventura (Furius baco has caught my eye, but there is stuff like Dragon Khan and Tempol de Fuego) -Parque Warner Madrid (Its like a really good version of our park, I love the look of their batman coaster, and hey who wouldn't like to ride their alternate reality version of WWF) -Islands Of Adventure (Full of amazing rides, in particular Dueling Dragons and Spiderman) (Done Now) -Busch Gardens Africa (Just a cool park with a good selection of coasters) (Done Now) -Busch Gardens Europe (Same as above, but the leafy environment and more mature and refined theming look great) -Europa Park (Cool approach to themed areas, worth it for silver star and their cool little bobsled coaster) -Phantaisaland (Every ride here is over the top and really is my kind of park, Black Mamba, Mystery Castle, Talocan and Winjas all look wonderful) Further down the list Six Flags Great Adventure and Cedar Point would be cool to check out eventually, but I'd have a bit to do before I get up to them. So what do you hope to one day visit?

Were the sparks in a faraday cage or something? Im just wondering how they pulled off the effect. I imagine it would have just been a high voltage arc type thing. Im just confused as to how they would have gotten out and started a fire.

But since IOA is spending a bucket load on it's Wizarding World of Harry Potter I think the chances of a licence being granted for a cheaper Harry Potter attraction at MW are next to none.

Cool, thanks for getting those. One thing I have noticed is that they have gotten rid of all the tropical foliage that was on the hill and have replanted with conifers which is a bit of a shame. As for the slides they look OK, pretty much what I was hoping for and expecting, with all this new water park technology there is still a place for classic slides IMO. I dont think those the two slides on the inside will be turbo tunnels though (or at least I wouldn't automatically assume so) For some reason many enclosed water slides use that tube size even if they aren't high speed such as one of the slides at the Beachouse in Adelaide: Ill just wait to see what happens though, the height of the start platform doesn't seem enough for a turbo tunnel anyway.

Roller coaster show on Discovery channel tonight.

Will you record it? -
Oh, ok then, well I guess you could time the length of an RCT3 Day, and then make the show that length (make it simple and just keep copying the same effects over and over) That's the only way to do it.
-
Have the show run every hour, and make the show last an hour?
-
Yeah, I know what you mean, models made of plastic are just plain terrifying.

Sorry, what I was asking was wether Richo could get some pics of the slides too when he ducks into DW getting photos of the Motocoaster. -

Nobody could answer that question on here. Im interested to see what they do underneath the ride and around it in terms of theming, its been a while since DW has done a ride like this from the ground up, so it will be interesting to see how they make everything fit together considering they would have had a bit more freedom at the design stage (unlike the Claw or Cyclone where they were dealing with rides of a set design) Just a little question, does Cyclone have turnstiles blocking the exit ramp? I was just wondering if it were possible to get photos of the new WWW slides at the same time as the motocoaster pics. -
That pic doesn't come in higher res, it's off the Mack (The manufacturer of the ride) website. IMO its good enough to show the layout anyway, I used it in my partial MW re-creation.

Thanks for the pics, i like that last one. Just out of interest, where was that 'guts' photo taken? It looks like a hydraulic launch motor, but I'm still confused as to how it will be implemented on this ride. Saberon is probably right, the catch car rails will probably be bolted on, everything else seems to be on this I still dont know how DW can say this ride has 18 banked curves, I guess its like Eejanaikas 14 inversions You curve up and out of the launch (1) Change direction and head down (2) Over a bunny hop and around another helix (3) Change direction and up a helix (4) Change direction and around a curve like the last one on SE (5) Slight bend to the right (6) Slight bend to the left downwards (7) Bend up to the bunny hill in front of the brakes (8) Turnaround to the station, this is barely banked anyway (9) Each of those is only one turn, i dont know why they have doubled that figure. As for the layout, it looks ok, but I think after that first turn they could have made it into a bit of an airtime point similar to Rita, it seems odd on a family coaster to place the emphasis on postive G forces rather than "tummy tickling" negative g forces. It will be interesting to see what the two airtime points they did put in turn out like though, travelling over at a quick pace. -
