  1. when we were there for slayer last year, there was a bench seat against the wall. Just above it was the plaque.
  2. there is no way you could get a car repaired and back on track within the time frame of the next show even if you have the most minor of accidents or even most mechancial failures. Got to keep a few cars as spares that can simply be swapped over in the event of something happening, but they could also rotate the cars through service and strip down and rebuild them as per a maintenance schedule. Its not like a ride where they can stay in service for thousands of hours with minimal down time, this particular package is very tough on gearboxes, differentials and even things such as wheel bearings and the like, even the chassis and roll cage structure is prone to mechanical stress. They would to have a service plan that seems them stripped down and inspected along with wear items replaced, could see the car out of use for a number of days before its returned to service.
  3. Sorry, but you are wrong. It wasnt baked in an oven, it was fried. here is an example. http://www.wentz.net/donut/history_of_the_donut.htm The american donuts are actually the very same dutch ones. They arrived in america and were made just the same as the dutch ones, deep fried with a centre filled with fruit or nuts. And I agree, churros are much better Yeah, and how are all their stores doing now? same thing happened on the coast. AND FYI, you dont have to proof the batter, they use an active yeast. With everything else you have to make, you simply dont need to take more time to make something when it isnt needed. About the only thing a bakery might proof these days are some specialist doughs, biscuit bases (largely to keep them fresh over a number of days) and maybe if they have a large number of loaves to bake the next day. edit: its not an oven either. Its a just a cabinet, similar perhaps to display cabinets you might see out the front (for instance, the pie warmers). All it does is provide a warm, moist place for the yeast to ferment, doesnt get anywhere near hot enough to be an oven, its just used to warm.
  4. sorry, but thats just not a donut. There should be some dough, hence the name, it shouldnt be a light kinda fluffy cake consistancy. They were always deep fried, so you have it arse about backwards, its only been an american thing to do it differently recently baking or part baking them. If you want to find a source of donuts, look towards the dutch. Dutch donuts (called oliebollen) are what is essentially traditional donuts, a puffy ball with a doughy centre, sometimes they are filled with fruit and spice. The resulting donuts are crisp on the outside, but doughy inside. See where it came from? and fyi, I am best friends with a couple of bakers who make 3 different varieties of donuts, including the original dutch ones.
  5. very overrated if you ask me. Light and fluffy, but overly sweet in most cases, their plain donuts dont really taste like donuts, its kinda hard to explain. Donuts should be crispy on the outside but kinda gooey inside, should have some sort of weight to them.
  6. yeah, i just went with the vip pass this year instead. 10% off in store isnt worth spending an extra $100 for and most people Id go to parks with have passes now too.
  7. went a bit stingy on the annual pass things now I reckon. When I originally got mine you got 50% off for up to 4 guests in the month of your birthday, now its only 25%. If you have a mega pass the discount is. If you just have a single pass.
  8. ok, birthday suits are now perfectly acceptible costumes now its marketed at an older audience. They did want to amp up the level of excitement didnt they? Just an idea (that doesnt mean a whole lot now), how about having the last 2 nights the adults/teens orientated event, alcohol etc not so much of a problem then. Could give the kids a chance to get in on the fun earlier in the month, then let the grown ups come out to play. Im not sure what im going to go as this year. Any ideas? pirate last year which went down really well with the japanese tourists in the park but short of maiming someone in main street, its been done. Everyone says to go as hagrid, but come on, just how freaking exciting is a 6ft 6 man with a pink umbrella and a beard
  9. anyone notice the chairs at 0:50 the reporters were sitting on? plastic fantastic found in wet n wild
  10. they also warn you in park when filling out the forms, when you are about to have your photo taken, then hand you a slip of paper with all the limitations on it when you are given your printed card. If you had any problems with the dates you had ample opportunity to do or say something about it then.
  11. went yesterday and its gone a whole lot of classics again like singing in the rain.
  12. from what ive heard, its not so much money thats an issue, its just poor decisions along the way which havent helped. Underestimated the wear and tear on the vehicles is a big one, if they had a chance again they probably would have gone with full tube frame chassis like the stunt car built in reverse. Would have made repairs much easier and could have swapped out the drivetrain to something else that will cope a little better. It really is a show that could have 3 or 4 sessions a day in peak periods because its over so quickly, but the reliability suffers greatly when you amp up the amount of drive time. Its a trade off, the more indepth the show is, the longer the cars are out on the track which increases the chances of a failure. Police academy was such a good runner because the human element took just as much (if not more actually) stage time as any vehicles part of the show. In saying that though, the driving quality is excellent. Some really hard stunts performed, made it seem effortless. Wonder how many cars were binned during pre production though
  13. no glass wear no eskies and no commercial food. Thats all it ever should (and was) be. No way known at all they can justify stopping people from bringing a sandwich into the park.
  14. I thought they built the exterior set and shot on location in guanaba?
  15. http://www.parkz.com.au/forums/index.php?showtopic=3806 this might be of some help to you.
  16. Whats with this place lately? why has it all gotten so bitchy? ^^ its not irrelevent, it was asked back on page one if anyone had an older map, the post is only replying to it. Make with the appologies, that was uncalled for. From looking at the tyre pic, they run federal 657's, atleast on the rear. Not surprised really considering federals are a brand name a lot of drifters use (considering some of them drive in the show). 657's are just a steel belted radial, something commonly found on a family sedan. Being on the rear, again, im not surprised at all, you dont need extreme levels of grip, so why spend 2 or 3 times the price for the tyres? http://www.federaltyres.com.au/ss657 If you got photos of the front of the car, probably find they are running something high performance like a federal 595 or the RS version of the same tyre (which is a race spec tyre, but still has tread). If they have federals on the back, pretty sure they'll have a deal going with a distributor and run them on the front too. There is pretty much no need for them to run a slick or close to slick tyre on the front, even professional drivers usually dont. The rear will just be off the shelf tyres, they wont be made with less tread than usual,it simply doesnt work that way, the condition they are in will just be from wear. If, for some strange reason they want lower tread levels, they could just rotate the tyres around on staff cars so they get a bit of wear, but it doesnt make any sense.
  17. dissapearing into the ground and having the earth rush up towards you is a big part of the attraction on sheikra. As I said back in the rumours thread from some time ago, if they put in a diving machine like that, Id ride it till I was light headed and passed out. I wouldnt even care if it wasnt themed or didnt fit in with a movie.
  18. one was a kids maze though, over near ricks, so if you were expecting a lot, thats not the purpose of it. Tonight they had the whole scooby theme happening at the kids maze instead of previous nights. The entry queue was lined with totem poles, good lighting and plenty of smoke. The entry into arkham was busy tonight, both nights they managed to scare the **** out of my girl friend. There was a doctor in the room with the half a corpse on the table. The clown was bad enough, but the doctor followed her across the maze and wouldnt let her pass, just staring at her inching closer. She froze in fear and I had to help her through because she literally couldnt move. Kudos to whoever that was, you did your job well. The band were good both nights, tonights costume comp was fun, adams family walking around handing out tickets for good costumes (cheers!) and sending you on your way. Generally I thought the staff roaming the park were pretty well themed, some good costumes, some good scares I saw with people jumping out from nowhere. Crowd interaction with the kids was brilliant, getting them to scream their lungs out, hah, you should have seen the look on some of their faces. Thousands of feet of smoke enveloped the place, those machines were working overtime, but they were totally awesome for hiding in and jumping out. You could get lost in some of them. Lighting was pretty cool down main street, spiders webs were ok, but i reckon they should have followed them up with some thin, wispy sort of web too, make it look like webs, rather than the fabric sort of stuff it was. To whoever darth was, thanks for the sword fight, that was hilarious. Thursday the ride times were good, we hit leathal weapon first, did superman, then went back to lethal, wouldnt have been more than a 20min wait in each of them. Rode superman then lethal just before they closed, would have been half an hour those times, but to the parks credit they still had the rides going at 9:30 to finish off the people who were still in lines. They could have just shut them off and left it at that, but they kept them running and I think that showed a bit of class. Tonights rides were long of course, but, hey, I dont think ive ever seen that many people in the park, ever. Not even during the busiest days, just thousands of people and a stack of good costumes. Again, they ran the rides long past the advertised close time. It was about 9:20 when we got on superman for the last time, still people behind us. Good stuff. The wait was still worth it, riding in the dark was loads of fun. Some ripper costumes tonight (more so than thusday). The halo guy was great, starwars storm troopers, terminator (who won best costume) was good. Plenty of vamps and ghouls about the place, loads upon loads of tarted up girls with very very high skirts, more than once was I given a whack and told to fold my tounge back up Even saw a couple of different demons that looked pretty gruesome. The family of batman villans was good, girlfriend got her photo taken with scooby, so she's happy for atleast the rest of the year. Asian tourists provided good value, they love to be scared and will do so at the drop of a hat. They also love taking photos, I must have posed for 40-50 photos tonight, everyone wanted to play with my sword. It was loads of fun though, they are so nice about it, actually everyone was pretty good, young kids too. I gave out plenty of "pirate gold" tonight, went through about a kilo of chocolate. Got a few taps on the shoulder by mystery people, if it was anyone here, hi, you should have stopped and had a chat. In all I think the night(s) were good fun, if you take yourself too seriously, you will find fault with things you probably should have expected to happen. For only running a couple of years I reckon they did a pretty good job, it will get even better next year, we are already planning our costumes (I reckon im going on stilts, did you see lurch!?!), definately back next year. For what it was, with the amount of trafic going through the gates, I reckon they did a pretty good job. Full nights like tonight would only show them they can bring them in, so its got to be good motivation for improvements next year. Most importantly, we had fun, thats what matters Ohh and churros. Got to have churros.
  19. There is a competition? ohh awesome. Im going thursday night to ride some rides in the dark and take some pics of the event, then friday im going dressed up. Going with friends who are in costume too, so it will be a good night. I dont think I can do much riding on friday night because its a bit difficult when you are in theme
  20. since the other thread is closed (i know he talks ****, but come on, that thread didnt need to close) and because i said i would post a pic or two as everything comes together. Coat has been finished, hat has been made, just time now to get the shirt done and my boots should arrive. Flintlocks have been held by customs though, so im going to have to sort that out tomorrow. Only about 1/3rd the way there, but we will be ready for some fun. If you happen to see me out and about, dont be affraid to tap me on the shoulder and say hi (though say where you are from too so you dont seem like a total weirdo )
  21. What about the option for buying family tickets? $99 -10% through my fun for a family of 4. It states that a family of 4 can be any combination of adults, children or pensioners, works out to be less than $25 each. Cant some of you get together and share the tickets? We are going because it still looks like a bit of fun out. Im just piecing together my costume this year, currently working on the hair and finishing off the template for the coat. I hope I can pull it off because it should be a pretty awesome sight in person. If i get everything done in time I might snap off some shots for here. No hints as to what ill be going as, you'll have to wait till closer to the event
  22. Where in the park is it? i went earlier this year again and i couldnt see it. But then, i wasnt looking for a half chopped up thing.
  23. you guys ever played rollercoaster tycoon 3?
  24. the area movieworld and wet n wild are located is actually called cades county, it got its name when the developer (col herringe) named the area after one of his sons. Thats where the name of the original park came from way back then, i remember going as a kid when i was young, I remember riding the speed slide with my grandmother who lost her glasses in the splash down pool. Nothing really left of the original park anymore, everything has been removed or upgraded. From memory, all they started off was with the flumes (used to ride a matt), the speed slide, the toboggan (i cant remember the same of it) and the wave pool. I remember the kids area from my childhood but i cant remember if it came later. Here's a photo for you, notice something interesting in the background? Anyone remember matilda? wonder where she went?
  25. Should still be 11:00 and 3:30 i think, give the park a call. Cant, working
