  2. Have you been on the new Vortex at SW, is this a similar reincarnation of the Wipeout?
  3. I think the bit towards the end of the attached statement makes it clear they have no plans for a new dark ride as yet. Next stage of Gold Rush redevelopment works commenced.pdf
  4. . In early 2017 Ardent initiated a process to review its 2015 Master Plan for the Dreamworld precinct. Dreamworld is located on prime real estate adjacent to the new Coomera town centre and core infrastructure. This review is considering a number of important factors including: (i) the impact of recent events at Dreamworld; (ii) the feasibility of rezoning parts of the site for alternate uses; and (iii) analysis of the existing Dreamworld footprint to identify potential opportunities for unlocking value. As part of this review Ardent has appointed a town planner to assess the feasibility of rezoning parts of the precinct. Ardent has, and will continue to, engage with third party developers to discuss potential development opportunities and timing for any redevelopment within the precinct. Notwithstanding the review of the Master Plan, Ardent will continue to invest in Dreamworld to facilitate its recovery and ensure it remains one of the Gold Coast’s key tourist attractions. (Taken from Ardent ASX release) Does "Notwithstanding" mean if Ardent will make more money from developing the land and closing DW they will go that way? We also know DW were looking at a 3rd party developer to build a hotel before the events of last year. Maybe DW are looking at going down that path again.
  5. WWW has reduced hours of 11-4 and the majority of DWs attractions have reduced hours, but these do vary
  6. Here is the new Dreamworld Annual pass design that is coming out at the end of this year
  7. The Courier-Mail is reporting (subscriber-only article) that the coronial inquest will begin on Tuesday the 3rd of April.
  8. Can anyone tell me if DW has modified the wings on Tailspin? I visited the park yesterday (first time in a couple years!) and felt like the wings don’t move as much as what I remembered them to. I used to be able to get a mad spin going for the entire ride but I couldn’t get my plane to flip once. I was in plane 3 and it was windy and still nothing 😑
  9. Does anyone think Dreamworld will re-open? the other Gold COast parks have but as a yearly member of Dreamowrld we have had no response. I actually wish these guys would sit down and watch Disney Imagennering on Disney Chanell It might wake them up, the park has lost direction yet I still love it. open to here your opinions.
  10. I just thought of marking a place for us to share stories from Theme parks whether they’re insane, scary or happy share them here. Here’s one from theme parks me I remember going into hot wheels sidewinder just to look at the queue because I was too scared to go on it Don’t know what’s going on with the photos so just try your best to ignore it thanks
  11. Hey Im fairly new to the forums but i wanted to bring the subject up about what can go in the place of RHLR another water ride like the mack rides Powersplash?
  12. Hey guys i thought i might as well bring this up as most of you know that CSPW was retired back in 2012 the boat remained in the river for about 1 or 2 years until removing the boat completely. Im not sure if they removed it's guidance track or not but since then its basically become a swamp more than a river but what do you guys think dreamworld should do the the river
  13. Since there is a million threads about what should be replaced or what’s next for a theme park, why not discuss about ideas for a new themed area for Dreamworld! The Gold Rush Country is basically gone so what do people think should be replacing it. Do keep in mind that the area currently is home to The Giant Drop, BuzzSaw and is going to be the home of the new coaster. The area highlighted is the area that needs to have a new theme. Since the area is nearly as big as WWW, it could be split into two smaller themed area or one giant themed area. I personally think a futuristic area or a new western area would be good but the new coaster is most likely going to be snake themed.
  14. noahjohnstone on YouTube, has uploaded another drone overview video of Dreamworld, but this time, It's the Blue Lagoon area.
  15. The official details that were revealed back on the 3rd of February: And from the Australian Broadcasting Corporation:
  16. Thank you for the info. I was wondering due to the plunge in share price that something may have happened today.
  17. Had to take a leak and get a coffee, so I stopped in at Dreamworld to see how things are. "Theming" (don't worry, keep reading and you'll see why this average first impression and degradation of an iconic building bugs me.) This new precinct, dubbed WhiteFacadeLand is coming together nicely. Guests will be stoked. This is a good execution of continuity for the new WhiteFacadeLand as it starts outside the park and continues inside now. Jokes aside, i'm sure all these panels will eventually get wraps on them but to have your first impression when you enter the park be this is pretty piss-poor. If regional theme park operators like Six Flags don't miss details this glaring this then so can Dreamworld, a park that was once known for its attention to detail. Also, the whole Buzzsaw area is now closed. More WhiteFacadeLand construction. Stuff is definitely happening for "unknown i-ride #1." After taking a leak, I noticed this. Can you guess what picture doesn't belong? If you guessed #6 you guessed correct! Speaking of Peter Brock's Garage - they've wasted no time gutting the place and putting up bollards near the sliding doors to keep guests out. Does that stop them from advertising it in park though? Hell naww! That photo was taken outside of their brand new "Designated Smoking Area" a.k.a. Big Brother Cafe a.k.a. Hollywood Cottage (no shit, that building there is 100% Hollywood Cottage and played a pivotal part in Dreamworld existing in the first place. They would actually be nuts to demolish that building given it is such an integral part of Dreamworld lore.) Currently the whole space is very inviting and "themed." Half removed walkways more theming. Super flammable foam disintegrating more rustic theming. Posts from abandoned pathways more colonial theming. After walking down and seeing Log Ride unexpectedly closed, I jumped on the train to see what was left of Blue Lagoon. While I was waiting I got to take in this scenic theme park vista. (Below is what it used to look like.) It used to be awfully pretty. But leaves are too hard to sweep up so it is what it is. Nothing to see here. Definitely nothing to see here, like unkempt and hazardous tree matter. Nothing to see here either apparently, even though it's the only thing you can see. Definitely no dangerous fences to be seen. On my final walk around, I stopped to admire the maroon theming that's been in place for nearly two years now. Theming. I'm definitely in Australia's Disneyland right now. You thought seeing this from ground level was bad? Check this out - if my theme park went through a globally seen incident people then i'd probably avoid giving influencers a great vantage point of where we're trying to pretend like nothing happened hey. On a positive note, after The Claw's random extended downtime (it's okay, we'll gloss over Buzzsaw's extended downtime, the West side of Giant Drop's random down-time earlier in the year, the east-side's current un-announced down time and just a total myriad of unplanned maintenance because the park is super duper safe) the ride has re-opened and it's looking really good. This was a tiny silver lining from what was otherwise a super depressing visit - the signs look great (both the one pictured above and the entrance side have been really well taken care of) and the new surfacing and paintjob is very well done and should be the standard for the whole park. I don't care for upcharges attractions that are forced into areas like this. You couldn't have just chucked all of this into Kevil Hill and connected it via the current passholder centre? You know, i'm just saying that if you did that, then the Trolls IP would be connected to all the other Dreamworks IP. And you know, if you did that, then the whole area would be air-conned and then when it closes (because you said it was temporary except first it was 12 months and now it's 18 months so who knows) then there'd be no impact visually for guests? Because you know, no parent wants to have a toddler crying because they see Troll stuff but they can't actually DO any troll stuff. And you know, then you wouldn't be chucking more conflicting themes inside an ocean themed area. Because, you know, you're a theme park and people expect that kind of hindsight. Because you know, maybe you should've learnt that when you tried to jam car stuff into an ocean themed area? Because you know, it's an ocean themed area. Dreamworld was successful because of John's attention to detail and nothing else. Today's Dreamworld is not even remotely detail focussed and I think it shows. Those who reckon there's no money to keep it to some unrealistic "Disney" standard couldn't be further from the truth - poorly-placed attractions and mis-matched themes are the result of bad management, not a lack of funds. Same goes for rides that continue to be down with little to no communication on why or when they'll re-open. Same goes for letting iconic facades get knocked over, spray painted and then lets design aesthetics be ruined by a dozen and one poorly integrated conduits, crap paint jobs and air-con boxes. You folks tell me - looking at the pictures below that were all taken in the 80's and 90's, has the park really improved?
  18. Look what’s back! Tickets are 29 dollars or 19 for passholders
  19. I just heard that the TOT is going to be removed, and this is really sad. I stay at the Gold Coast for only a half years, and I did not ride TOT for so many times. Although TOT will be removed, what kinds of new rides do you think would replace it? I am not sure whether DW wants to add the new rides with the same height as TOT. If they really want to build another roller coaster with over 100 meters, I believe that the upgraded version of Turbo Track at Ferrari World Abu Dhabi would be a good choice. Another Roller Coasters, such as B&M Giga, Intamin Giga or RMC Hybrid Coaster are also excellent.
  20. Ardent Leisure Group was fast out of the gates on Tuesday morning, after a buyer paid a 20 per cent premium to snap up a 4 per cent stake in the company. The Ardent Leisure share price is one of the top performers today, it’s up 16%. Why Is The Ardent Share Price Jumping? According to reporting by the Australian Financial Review, a large investor has bought 4% of the company at a price 20% higher than where the shares were previously trading. The trade at $1.20 per share supposedly was handled by UBS and was worth a total of almost $23 million shares. Who knows why the trade was done at such a large price? Perhaps the buyer will soon be launching a takeover bid? Or maybe an investor simply wanted a piece of Ardent Leisure this week no matter how much it had to pay. At this higher price I don’t think the Ardent Leisure share price is a buy, but it will be interesting to see if anything happens with this mystery buyer. A potential takeover or positive news in the near future could explain why such a large trade was done, however the circumstances remain unclear.
  21. So seeing that dreamworld announced that they are spending 50 million dollars for new attractions in the next few years with 30 million for the coaster and 7 million for the waterslides. We are still left with around 13 mill for further attractions obviously there is also the multi million dollar ABC kids area expansion but I doubt it will be that much so what else do you think could be coming. I think it will be a flat ride maybe to accompany the roller coaster in that section of the park or maybe some sort of dark ride.
  22. From Dreamworlds Facebook page ”The Queensland Government today announced it will inject $2.7million dollars into Dreamworld, helping expand the Corroboree area with a world-class research facility. The Dreamworld Future Lab will be the first of its kind in Queensland and will help support Dreamworld’s conservation drive. See it begin to take shape soon.”
  23. If you remember the "shaded seating area" that was announced (and ridiculed) to replace the Wipeout, it looks like it's going to be more than just benches and shade sails. Concept art has been found online showing the possible outcomes for the area, and With applications for tender closing this week, construction should get under way fairly soon. The documents inclided in the file seem to strongly suggest that option 3 is the one the park has chosen to go with and also mention that the shade sail from the old Trolls area will be used to cover the decking in the new "Ocean Parade Chill Out Zone".
  24. Alceon Group has today announced a new Lego Store will open in Robina with many of the features found at Dreamworld's Lego Store. However, Dreamworld's store will be about twice as large. Robina's store, at QIC Robina, is due to open by November. How does everyone think this will affect Dreamworld?
