Clearly, the "Aussie coaster that's as old as the Titanic" refers to Luna Park Melbourne's Scenic Railway and "Australia's biggest ride disasters" refer to the 1979 Luna Park Sydney Ghost Train fire and the 2016 Dreamworld Thunder River Rapids Ride incident. Looks like a very interesting program which hopefully balances the positives & negatives of the theme park industry! '7News Spotlight - Ride Of Your Life' airs Sunday the 6th of June between 7pm & 8:30pm AEST on Channel 7.

I havent seen mention of it here, but have on FB, that Tiger Island will also be getting a refurb/remodelling as the park moves away from keeper interaction with the tigers - i.e no longer doing presentations etc. If that is the case, and its basically set to be become a zoo exhibit, then for mine they may as well get rid of it. Tiger Island since day one was about the interaction between tigers and handlers visible to the public, about understanding their natural instincts and behaviours in the wild (as much as possible in a controlled setting). If what we are getting is just a couple of tigers sitting in a smaller location than what is current, i'd be done with it and use the land for better purpose - and thats coming from someone who LOVES tigers.

The GCCC has just finished the newest city-wide flood map based on the latest modelling. The map will be reviewed by the QLD gov in 2023 as part of the proposed Designing for Major Update to the City Plan. Once in, the updated town plan will have a say in what the parks can do. Based on a recent youtube video published on the 12th November 2020 the Ardent Leisure Dreaworks Theme Park Shrek, Kung Fu Panda & Madagascar - oh my! Join us for a walkthrough of the "Dreamworks Experience is to be no more, I quote the following from Theme Park Ogre "With the rumours that this area might be closing soon, I thought it was time to do a walk through video! I hope you enjoy" [Ref: Theme Park Ogre] Reported on the 9th of November, Ardent Leisure, owner of Dreamworld theme Park has announced and due to report my month ending (Nov 2022) that a potential $50, million spend is to be allocated to their businesses. In addition and as part of questions posed by investor to Ardent Leisure, the option for accommodation on Ardent Leisure's significant and 100% owned land is still being considered. Having watched the Theme Park Ogre YouTube video (as per encloded link), and what appears to be a lack of busting and swelled Theme Park guess crowds in the filmed area(s), may well provide some credibility that the suggested rumour posed by Theme Park Ogre may indeed have some merit. It is acknowledged that Dreamworks made its First quarterly profit as announced on the ASX since the tragic accident at Dreamworld, Ardent Leisure has resently reported a handsome $150 mill plus resting in slumber in their healthy bank accounts. With a previously announced $75 million 4 star and 5 star caravan park planned (tentatively put on hold) coupled with $50 million allocated to business park improvements. Having a recent theme Park competitor having announced their intent for a possible high rise hotel in close nearology to the park, Ardent Leisure may have missed the boat (opportunity) in regards to their planned 4 star hotel on their 100% owned land. However, a 5 start caravan park in the heart land of Australia's theme Park mecca, applying the $50 million and connecting the business to the $75 million bolt on business may make good business sense on a nimber of fronts. Could the rumour play benefit to a complete re-theme and finally connecting dormant Ardent Leisure land with new business opportunities. Regardless, the writing is on the wall, Dreamworld maybe a completely different experience for guests and as lacking in the Theme Park Ogre video, increase much needed foot traffic at Dreamworld.

Saver remains the same, Value $119 > $129 and Locals $129 > $149. Renewals remain at $99 for a Locals Pass. They have joined VRTP in One Day park ticket for an adult being $105. WWW is no longer included in the one day ticket and needs to be purchased separately or as part of a multi-day pass.

Dreamworld has lost its “tiger king”, with the shock departure of the man who set up the Gold Coast theme park’s iconic Tiger Island attraction more than a quarter of a century ago. Patrick Martin-Vegue left the park earlier this month after being made redundant following 27 years in the job. The world-renowned tiger expert was poached from the US in 1995 to set up Dreamworld’s Tiger Island attraction, which quickly became one of Queensland’s top tourism drawcards. His sudden departure has rocked current and former staff amid concerns the theme park is focusing more on its rides than its animal attractions after being slammed by the pandemic and the 2016 Thunder River Rapids ride tragedy in which four tourists died. Dreamworld was recently embroiled in controversy when it was revealed the park’s owners, Ardent Leisure, had “repurposed” almost $3 million in taxpayer funds earmarked for a major koala research facility for its new $32 million Steel Taipan rollercoaster. “There’s been concern for a while at the direction of the park,” a Dreamworld insider said. “They’re so focused on the rides that they’ve forgotten about the animals. They don’t even have an in-house vet.” The park has lost several experienced animal staff in recent years, including respected former life sciences manager Al Mucci and two tiger handlers. It’s understood the park’s next most senior handler, Simon Murray, only recently returned to work after being injured in an incident on Tiger Island. Dreamworld is believed to have recently hired three rookie tiger handlers and insiders say there are concerns about how Tiger Island will be managed with the loss of Mr Martin-Vegue. Arden Leisure chairman Gary Weiss told The Courier-Mail last month that Dreamworld could have shut permanently or been sold off at a “knockdown price” as the pandemic wreaked havoc on the company’s bottom line. “They were very dark days for us,” Dr Weiss said, adding that only a $67 million lifeline from the Palaszczuk Government and federal JobKeeper payments had saved the park. Mr Martin-Vegue was the face of Tiger Island, one of only two interactive tiger exhibits in the world when it opened. Over the years, he oversaw the arrival of a series of new Bengal and Sumatran tiger cubs born in captivity at Dreamworld as well as adult tigers brought from other zoos in Australia and overseas as part of worldwide conservation and breeding programs. A Dreamworld spokeswoman confirmed Mr Martin-Vegue was “no longer with the business and we wish him the best with his future endeavours”. “Tiger Island continues to operate as normal and long-standing Tiger Island supervisor Simon (Murray) has been promoted to a senior supervisor role,” she said. Helloooo theme park brains trust! My 8yo daughter and I are heading to Dreamworld next month. It will be her first time, and I haven’t been in around 11/12 years! I was just wondering if anybody was able to tell me if any rides have test seats/harnesses you can try out before lining up to ride? We were at MovieWorld earlier this year and we went on the DC Rivals Hypercoaster. I probably should have checked out the test seat, but the line was ridiculous and it was so hot, I didn’t want to lose our place and thought all would be fine! Long story short, I got on and it did take a couple of tries before we were finally able to get the harness to lock, but I tell you what, I felt so embarrassed and honestly was freaking out that it wouldn’t hold the entire ride and so did not enjoy it nearly as much as I’d like to think I would have! It also took a couple of goes on the front row of the Scooby coaster too, which is our favourite. I’m about 165cm tall, and around 100kg, but hold all of my weight in my midsection which I think is why it was so hard to get the harness down. I would like to avoid as much embarrassment as possible on this trip, understandably haha. Also would hopefully like to get on the Superman ride at MovieWorld now I believe my daughter is tall enough to ride! time for another random law suit against dreamworld: I don’t have access to the Gold Coast Bulletin article however from what i’ve gathered (link below) the kid and his family were visiting the Moonlight Night Markets where the kids were “climbing all over the train” which on the time of the fall, Josh (the dad) claims had no signage or fencing round it and was poorly lit.“He slipped off the train, the surface was concrete and he broke his humerus bone straight through,” https://rajacreator.com/dad-sues-dreamworld-after-sons-fall-from-stationary-attraction/ imo, i think parents should just be more attentive to their kids instead of blaming places where their kids injure themselves. I mean if you think something is dangerous or unsafe wouldn’t you tell them to get down? especially when it’s something not designed to be a playground or to be climbed all over, but maybe that’s just me. Last week I had another opportunity to get on Taipan a few times and planned on staying for moonlight markets after close. I was watching the queue and although the general queue was pretty low, there was quite a few people with Tailwhip wristbands. I found it odd that they closed the general queue at precisely 5pm, despite having several tailwhip cycles to run (I'm pretty sure they have to redo all restraints on a train before dispatch) and because they had both trains on track, they were literally dispatching the non-spin train entirely empty every second cycle so that they could bring the tailwhip seats back into the station for the next group of two. Several cycles ran empty, or with only the tailwhip seats occupied, and this just felt a bit flat - there was a small group of riders stood around the area watching these two trains cycle repeatedly for solidly 10-15 minutes until all the tailwhips were done. I know park management read the boards, so this is more directed at them than for general discussion (but hey - add your 2c, i'm not fussed) - but I wanted to throw it out there that either Dreamworld needs to: Ensure they don't oversell Tailwhip in the final hour, or: When it reaches 5pm, Spiel to the queueline that the ride will continue to operate until the tailwhip queue has been cleared, and they make no guarantee anyone joining the general queue after 5pm will get a ride. Heck - give a 'queue marker' to the last person to enter before five, and just post a sign. I just feel like the guest experience could be plussed here with very little additional effort to give a few last rides to people on trains that are going to be dispatched anyway...

Dreamworld have recently increased Locals Pass pricing, Saver $99 (No change) Value $109 > $119 Locals $119 > $129 Renewals are going from $89 to $99 too, absolutely no issue with it in my opinion and think its smart to retain the $99 (sub $100) budget tier.

Dreamworld has since revealed that it will be celebrating a significant New Zealand holiday at the park next weekend. And in all honesty, it may not be much but I'm genuinely keen on it. Keen to see plenty of Maori's there...

. In early 2017 Ardent initiated a process to review its 2015 Master Plan for the Dreamworld precinct. Dreamworld is located on prime real estate adjacent to the new Coomera town centre and core infrastructure. This review is considering a number of important factors including: (i) the impact of recent events at Dreamworld; (ii) the feasibility of rezoning parts of the site for alternate uses; and (iii) analysis of the existing Dreamworld footprint to identify potential opportunities for unlocking value. As part of this review Ardent has appointed a town planner to assess the feasibility of rezoning parts of the precinct. Ardent has, and will continue to, engage with third party developers to discuss potential development opportunities and timing for any redevelopment within the precinct. Notwithstanding the review of the Master Plan, Ardent will continue to invest in Dreamworld to facilitate its recovery and ensure it remains one of the Gold Coast’s key tourist attractions. We also know DW were looking at a 3rd party developer to build a hotel before the events of last year. Maybe DW are looking at going down that path again.
