Why did they get rid of Hanna-Barbera Land? Was Wonderland ever a Paramount park?

thats a lie the park didnt get rid of hanna babera land becaus eit was too big for guests to walk around or for that matter the park was too big. it wasnt. anyway if wonderland is going to expand that will just make the park even bigger.

Wonderland lost their Hanna Babera license and didn't renew it, which is why it originally changed to Little Wonders Land. The reasons stated by the park of the closure was that guests thought the park was too big, which is fair - it IS a big hike from Beastie to Bush Beast. And one point to make - just because Movie World holds the rights to HB, doesn't mean Wonderland couldn't simultaneously. Of course, this is irrelevant, as Wonderland did let their rights expire, eventually replacing it with Marvel.

Anyway, seenig this topic is dead, and there has been alot of opening up alot of old topics recently, here we go. I have done some digging around, and this is what the Press Release for the Closure was.

Closure of “LITTLE WONDERS LAND”   (Formally known as Hanna Barbera Land.)   Why has Wonderland Sydney closed Little Wonders Land?   Wonderland Sydney has responded to market research where 79% of our guests felt that the park was too large to walk around all day. We have now responded to feedback and are rationalising the theme park to make the experience more comfortable and enjoyable for guests.   Wonderland Sydney is currently two thirds larger than Seaworld (26 hectares) and Movieworld. To walk from one end of the park to the other is 1.1 km. You could walk up to 8 km in an average day and that’s a lot of walking! Comparatively even with the re-configuration of the park, Wonderland Sydney is still more than twice the size of its competitors.   Guests can enjoy refurbished and re-themed rides from Little Wonders Land that have recently been relocated into other areas of the park.

Ok since the question was asked as to why they closed it, there arewere several possible reasons, that could have (but isn't limited to) included the following: Their reasons in the press release were correct, and it was too big, although given the truthfullness of the other press releases we have seen, thats not likely. Their plans to expand the Australian wildlife park to include exotic and foreign animals, to create a zoo needed the land (Stephen Galbraith said as much in an internal staff function) They could have needed to relocate the entry driveway to the park directly off the M4, as they had a large industrial buyer that wanted to buy the land currently occupied by their driveway at the time. They wanted to tear up LWL, and remodel it as a "marvel" themed land, which would require its closure for several months. I can come up with many explainations. the one it their press release was a crock, but the making way for a zoo is an option tossed around by Stephen Galbraith often during my employ there around 2002. Bottom line is nothing was done because Sunway was gearing up to sell it anyway.
