The Australian Outback Spectacular goes ahead

Well, its about the same price for dinner and a show at the casino, and thats been very succesful for years now. Its not everyones cup of tea, but it is still very succesful, and very profitable. The difference is that this is more targeted at international tourists, who don't normally go to the Jupiters stage show. This is also billed as more of an experience then a show, so its not going to be paying $60 to watch an Aussie version of Maverick. Its a big budget show with dinner included. Like I say, I don't expect it'll be of much interest to people on this site, but there certaintly is the interest out there, and $60 is probably about what you'd expect to pay. I'd also be surprised if they didn't try and add it into Seaworld Nara Holiday packages, in deals with Paradise Country (International tourists go to Paradise Country by day and then to the Outback Spectacular by night for a discounted price) or even as an upgrade option on the 3 park super pass. Richard is also correct in saying this has nothing to do with the attraction that is being added to Movieworld next year, and I can assure that the money spent on this doesn't mean that there won't be any money for next years new attraction.

personally I feel that this attraction's position next to movie world will be its downfall. the majority of its patronage would be by the tour buses etc, and of course, predominantly international tourists. the problem is, when you stay at the gold coast, everything you want is right there, the beach, the hotel, shops, attractions... everything, including heaps of other things to do like sea world. Movie World and Wet N Wild mostly ride on the back of the three park super pass, and them along with dreamworld ride and rely mostly on transport systems such as the surfside tour buses. most people will not want to spend 40 minutes on a bus to see this style of show, and a meal, only to pack back onto a bus to go home. I dont know about everyone else but I dont want to have a hearty meal, and then jump on a bus to get my dinner jolted around on a bumpy tour coach to get me back to my hotel. i'd prefer take a stroll down the promenade to a restaurant, and stroll back to my hotel to walk off the thousand calories that I've just consumed... I think thats the reason why the original site would have been planned near sea world... perhaps an alternate site would be better, somewhere closer to the promenade...

Well as a local I can tell you the hotel thing is about to change over the next decade with a lot of hotels planned for Coomera. by not just dreamworld but a texan and his land and a japanese owned land as well.

I think you are wrong. (1) it only takes 20 mins from surfers. (2) Dinner Show are popular overseas. (3) alot of people are not roller coaster geeks like you guys. :)

You know, i don't consider myself to be a "coaster freak" as such, but I am getting really sick of some of the members on this site slagging off about people who are fanatical about rollercoasters. TAKE NOTE OF THE WEBSITE ADDRESS Morons.

Guys, come on, you are winging about paying 60 BUCKS!! How much do you think shows of this calibre cost? 60 bucks is cheap as, especially if you are getting dinner. I would compare this to something like the Man from Snowy spectacular that was touring a year or so ago. Tickets to that would have been in the 100 dollar range. I don't think they will be really bothered if thrill ride people aren't into this, its a different market. I personally am very interested and will certainly go see the show. I also don't know if you guys realise just how much a show like this costs to get up and keep running...
