Sorry to double post but too late to edit. Just thought I'd post some new photos and video of the park that have surfaced. Full credit goes to Zh3ng on Flickr and Bigbearsg on YouTube. 4356925360_1856c84ed5_o.jpg Universal Globe 4356179543_dbd09d863a_o.jpg Archway The Lost World 4356908620_37c0fa9cf6_o.jpg Jurassic Park Entrance 4356909348_92e2e116d0_b.jpg Canopy Flyer - Suspended track ride 4356165059_e2b3060d27_o.jpg Dino Soarin' - standard circular, up & down ride 4356909684_2153300cc4_o.jpg Jurassic Park River Adventure (just a bit wetter than DW ) 4356163891_1b2a9bba48_o.jpg The rafts

Seeing these pictures and videos makes me want to have a trip to Singapore. IMO the park has been put together very well and is the best Universal Studios park, bar IOA (by looks only, I have never been to any).
Having been to IOA, I'm keen to check this out when it opens. Do we know an opening date yet?

It opened last Sunday!
Yes, it opened on the 14th WITHOUT any of the rides. The gates were opened to the entire complex for people to walk around for a nominal fee. The rides in the park were just 'testing' (I guess) so that people could see them in action. The official opening date isn't until early March I believe, however I do not have a definite date. News here in Singapore is big about it! The tickets released for the soft openings over the CNY long weekend sold out in a matter of minutes.

looks awesome! Jurassic Park ride looks to have dual down shoots? I wonder if that's because of the way it's designed to work with the vertical lift hill and something to do with capacity? Overall the Park has some very innovative concepts and i can't wait to check it out later ion the year once all of the bumps are ironed out

^Yeah, the river rapids rides built by Hafema have double vertical lifts, and the downchute narrows at the bottom (Factoid, its a big stainless steel slide basically). River Quest at Phantasialand in Germany has an identical configuration....When the boat slides down it hits the side, causing it to spin. I'd say the presence of two lifts is a necessity for efficient operations (much like the setup on Scooby)

Call me weird, but every time I glance at that Accelerator teacups ride, I keep viewing it for a second as an old time carousel instead of the futuristic machine it is supposed to be, because it has a canopy type thing on the roof has the hoses that look like ribbons, a light yellow colour scheme, and a number of lights.

I've been to Universal in Orlando and left thinking it was pretty average at best. This on the other hand looks quite awesome. Didn't think this park would interest me at all, but I fear I might be going to Singapore sooner rather then later...
i think universal in orlando is great set of parks if you add IOA in, and i think the Singapore park is like a combo of the 2 orlando parks

Visited USS on Thursday! Had a great time. I think the park is awesome! It's still not completely finished but from what I tell and experienced it's a must see holiday destination. Unfortunately, the main attraction I wanted to go on (Battlestar Galactica) was closed indefinitely because of a technical glitch in their morning test routines. Thankfully I have myself a yearly pass and the park is literally 25 mins from my house, so I can go anytime! There isn't a single thing I can fault about the park. It cleverly combines the best features from USO/IOA, USH and USJ. Once it's complete with it's full line up of 24 or so rides it will be amazing!

Universal Studios Singapore shuts down newly opened roller coaster
March 29, 2010 - 10:11AM Universal-Studios-Singapore-420x0.jpg Visitors ride on a roller coaster on the opening day of Resorts World Sentosa Universal Studios movie theme park in Singapore. Photo: AFP Universal Studios Singapore has shut down the world's tallest dueling rollercoaster, and a major attraction, because of a technical problem, a mere week after the theme park opened. The Battlestar Galactica, where two rollercoasters shoot off at the same time and loop around each other, will "only be opened when we have determined the cause and the solution," a spokeswoman said on Friday. "The ride may be closed for several days or longer to perform a complete analysis. We understand some guests may be disappointed; however, the safety of our employees and guests remains our top priority," the park said in a statement. The glitch at the rollercoaster, the flagship attraction of the new Universal Studios park, was found during daily pre-opening testing on Thursday. The world's fourth Universal Studios welcomed its first visitors on March 18 with a lavish ceremony aimed at attracting luck, and repeat business, to the Singapore theme park. The park is part of the $US4.4 billion Resorts World at Sentosa, owned by a unit of Malaysia's Genting Group, which also has a casino and six hotels, and plans to lure 60 per cent of its visitors from Southeast Asia, China and India.

Rumour over on Theme Park Review is that a seat from the Cylon (inverted) side fell off during testing!
I've heard that too. For some reason it just sounds a little bit far fetched for me though, up there with events like "It got stuck in the loop!" (Though then again, there was that inverted coaster in Denmark that had a whole car fall of the track)
Looks like I'll be sent there by a magazine to do an article on it too! biggrin.gif Probably June when Madagascar opens.
And then not publish the article or photos? Hiyooooo :P

Hey everyone - Just came back from a one week trip to Singapore - and of course visited USS. Had a great day out - regardless of Battlestar being open. 5 minute wait for Mummy and Jurassic Park, and that was simply the walk through the queue. Beautiful park, very very small. It felt like the same size as Seaworld or Movieworld, but everything is pretty compact. Mummy ride was fantastic! Definitly my favorite ride ever! Jurassic Park was unbelievably wet. We were soaked to the core after the drop down and then spent the rest of the day wet. Waterworld stunt show was excellent but I'd say about 10% of the timings was out. But the warmup guys were great, and dare I say, one of the best audience warm up crews I have seen. Won't bother posting our pics here as we didn't take pics of anything that hasn't already been seen. We booked the hotel as part of the USS deal, so had a free shuttle to the park. If you can afford to get to Singapore spend 2 days! 1 day at USS (you won't need any longer) and the second day shopping! Nate
