a fly coaster for wnw, well from my past experience i have riden the now closed fly coaster in surfers manytimes in the past yr, but to have a perminate fixture in a water park i find odd, maybe movieworld where they could theme it, but what the heck, the structure looks very sturdy, massive round poles, at first i thought they had brought and installed the old wonderland parachute thingy that stood doment next to flycoaster at surfers when is the open date?

I thought it was the trampoline thing going into WnW/MW.... You know, the up charge attraction? Just oversized? Because When I went to DW the other day, I drove past, and then when I drove back, they had installed the second pole. Both of the poles are on like an angle, which made me think it is the trampoline thing.

Exactly why I said over sized
A bit of common sense mate! What would be the point of a 60m bungee trampoline? Humans can't physically jump that high, even with a trampoline to assist. Go look at this company report if you don't believe everyone else that it's clearly a typical Skycoaster structure going up ( http://www.villageroadshow.com.au/upload/D...20Editorial.pdf ) It clearly states on page 6:
The offering at this water park will be further enhanced this year by the addition of significant attractions to attract Wet’n’Wild’s growing number of guests. In September the country’s first multi-slide looping water slide attraction Aqua Loop opened. This will be followed by an adventure park themed area featuring ‘pay-as-you-play’ attractions such as the Sky Coaster, Zip Lines and a Flow Rider surf machine. Sea World also achieved attendance growth during the year.
No 'dunno' about it. As for FlowRider...I went on it today. Price is $10 for 30 minutes, shared with 9 others, or $20 if you want to do it stand up (They run alternate sessions depending on how you want to ride), with the full width of the flow rider available. For comparisons sake, at Dreamworld, FlowRider costs $5 , with 15 others, with the flow rider split down the middle. Stand up is only available at 4pm and after hours, also for $20. Edited by Gazza

Was there as well today, looks like the zip line is going up, just a structure near the wavepool entrance, The fly coaster looks like it still has a few supports to go and they appear to be out the back near the staff car park, but I can't wait for it to go because it is something I really want to try and should be a good view for the people sitting around the wavepool. Also Sunrise had all their equipment behind the Aqualoop getting ready to do the show live from their tomorrow for the pool party! Did the Aqualoop last week as well and really was an amazing ride, I did come off the ride with a huge scratch, I didn't feel it though until someone pointed it out, felt smooth and it ain't stopping me from riding it again!! :)

In reply to your post Gazza, I think Dreamworlds is has the better wave. The jet is thinner allowing a faster wave, bit harder to do tricks but more control of the board and not to mention it actually pushes riders off the wave resulting in quicker rotation of riders. With the one at Wet n Wild older riders (not kids) seem to get stuck in the wave. However, the problem at Dreamworld is the attendants seem to 'hog' the ride with there demonstrations. You pay to ride it not watch staff. At wet n wild they give you your instructions and off you go, they talk to you at the bottom if your showing your struggling. When I was there the best times to do it where for the first session (11 or 11:30 I think) or 1:00, each time I did it was only myself, my mate and 2 others, apart from the first when it was just me and my mate. If anyone is thinking of standing try body boarding first then give standing up a try, for those who surf, its nothing like it :)

Wow.... Everyone is always so serious here. '-.- I've heard WnW have a smaller wave??? And that they require you to sign a waiver first or something? Just wondering if this is in-fact true?

I would of if someone posted it? o.O

Size comparison, exactly the same zoom level, with scale bars: post-88-1291947194_thumb.jpg I'd probably be inclined to say that they are both "FlowRider Doubles", the one at DW certainly is according to the manufacturers website, but WnWs isn't on there yet, and WnWs version is much too wide to be a "FlowRider Single". Though, as I mentioned earlier, the one at WnW doesn't have a divider down the middle, so you have more space to scoot about.
And that they require you to sign a waiver first or something? Just wondering if this is in-fact true?
Yeah, there was a waiver to sign.

It took about a couple of minutes to confirm that it was a skycoaster by doing my own simple Google search :)http://www.google.com.au/webhp?hl=en#hl=en...26f8425e8add048

Indeed, there were a couple of 5 y.o's that were sort of just sitting steady in the flow without moving. Anybody can just sit there without too much effort. Edited by Gazza

Themeparkgc got it in one....They're exactly the same model: post-88-1291963487_thumb.jpg
The reference to the smaller wave size may have referred to the amount of flow, coming over the crest, rather than the physical footprint of the machines, as someone mentioned a 'thinner sheet of water.' While I haven't had a chance to checkout a flowrider, I did until recently, work at Wetside Water Education Park in Hervey Bay. It's a free water park which featured a 'Boardrider' (I believe the water flows in the opposite direction to the flowriders) as an upcharge attraction, which had 5 operating levels. 1, was of course, quite tame, and I believe it operated on 2 or 3 for general use. The staff could crank it up to 4 or 5 for larger guests, or more experienced surfers/boarders. The volume of water that came over 'the wave' was significantly different on these different levels. I could tell from the café which I operated (despite it being approximately 100 or more metres away) whenever they had turned it up to 5 by the increased roar of the water. And, having ridden it on both 3 and 5, can say that 5 definitely feels & appears to be a much bigger wave. Hope this helps :) Edited by strop

^Ah, so we have one of these[ in Australia. Never knew that, thanks strop. I like how the 'BoardRider' has people wearing helmets, means it's easier to die on it compared to a FlowRider.
We certainly do Gazza. It has been operating for just over 12 months now. I haven't ridden a flowrider for comparison, but I did find it 'pretty rough' in that if you tried to stand up or do something tricky, when you fell off, you did get quite pummelled. I certainly took at least one good knock on the head when I rode, and was pretty thankful for the helmet. You are also required to wear a rash vest, which I assume is the same for Flowrider. As for the park in which it is situated, Wetside Water Education Park Hervey Bay is located on the Hervey Bay foreshore and opens all year (actual hours vary seasonally). I have been meaning to post about it on here sooner, but just never seemed to get around to it. The park's website can be found here: http://www.widebaywater.qld.gov.au/communi...ereducationpark It is free to enter, with the Boardrider being an upcharge at $5 for 10 minutes, shared with 3 other riders. The park also features a water play structure similar to those found in most water parks these days as well as a large 'zero-depth' area with thousands of fountains & water spouts. They also have the capacity to use this area for a light & music spectacular, which has recently began operating some nights. Photos can be found on the website of both the boardrider and the other 'attractions' There are numerous rumours floating around regarding possible expansions with more 'water park style attractions' in the near future. The current area was rather optimistically called Stage 1 on all the plans and drawings I saw, so who knows, we may end up with a half decent attraction here some years down the line.

^Google, Wikipedia or Youtube didn't have anything about skycoasters? If you look in one/more of those places right now Ill be nice and pretend you didn't make that post.
Weird I thought a forum is basically where you "discuss" stuff.. I dont think forums would exist if everyone on them just kept saying stuff like.. uhh go look on youtube or wiki -_- Everyone is so serious on this forum <_< Just chill

^Bangs head against wall....So if I were to answer the question of "What is a skycoaster?" I would either: A ) Give them a link to the official website, which I would've had to find via google (Since I don't know it the official website off by heart) B ) Give them a link to the Wiki article C ) Give them a link to a Youtube video. And if I'd have to do one of the above to actually be able to make a post answering the question, then why wouldn't they just do it themsevles in 5 secs instead of waiting for someone else to answer on a forum?

I dont think forums would exist if everyone on them just kept saying stuff like.. uhh go look on youtube or wiki
Personally, I think there's a big difference between the sort of specialised discussions that occur on forums, eg "How does this work?", "when is the best time to visit here?", "what is being built there?", "what is your favourite ____?" Versus simple, self answerable questions like "What is a ____?" http://www.urbandictionary.com/define.php?term=fgi :) Edited by Gazza
