Similar motion, but one's a coaster and the other's not. Here is a Mega Disk'O with a capacity of 600pph. The 1000pph version just has more seats (thus a larger disk). http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MAtjsTovBS8

Never ridden or seen a Disk'O til this video Whilst not amazing, looks like a solid enjoyable, 'mini' thrills kind of ride. The question is though ... is this DW's 'thrill' ride or their family friendly ride??? I would be disappointed it this is the 'thrill' ride and the family ride is still yet to be announced.

It will be the family thrill ride as they wouldn't be putting forward the application for this ride so far in advance if they were going to build it by September as it doesn't take very long to build. Also they wouldn't submit the application before the Thrill ride before the family ride this close to when they want the family ride opened.

When Dreamworld submit an application through GCCC and it was for a coaster; would they specify the 'type' of coaster?? I think it'll be a good addition to Nick Central.... or Ocean Parade with the Claw and Adrenaline Ally. Whichever way - I hope there's good theming but I think it'll be on the Nick side. EDIT: The space available is approx. 60 metres. The Disk'O Coaster is 81.5m, Mega is 37.5m and normal is 24.55m When I say the sizes; I mean length. I guess you picked up on that. xD Like the space is 60m long.

Not sure if it would specify type to be honest As DW is obviously a landmark tourist destination, they basically get immediate approval for anything within their grounds. Hence why the application was lodged and then approved within a week whereas any other development takes 6months. But seeing as this said "disk o kids ride' I guess we could see it specified. Ill be checking back every week or so and seeing when something gets added

Not sure how it works now for a commerical buisness such as the Theme parks, but with any building works, regardless of where or on who's land, council has the last say if it can be built or not. I remember a delay happening for Dreamworld during the construction of the Cyclone as they required to get approval from the council for the height of the ride in that area (being next door to the school or something along those lines). I found this weird at the time, but after having to deal with the council for the last 10yrs in the building industry, nothing surprises me anymore. The council has the right to refuse your building permit if they find fault from the consultants, wether it be enviromental, structual or even if the local neighbours complain during the process. So to think that the park gets straigh forward approval for any ride construction would be an error in thinking. If you want an example of what i am talking about, go to the GCCC web site and search through the minutes for the Comera Town Centre. The amount of changes, hold ups, etc that the project has gone through so far would amaze some people. On that note, i will be taking a trip down to the park tomorrow and will send through to the admins any pics that i might find interesting to everyone on the site, fingers crossed I will hav some thing good. P.S...Sorry about the spelling, it's late and i am not thinking too well at the moment...LOL

I think this is a good ride and it does get fantastic reviews from people proving to be a good addition... however IMO we live in a country with not many theme parks or rides and their is a vast selection out there and this year we will now have 3 DiskO's here, one at Aussie World, one at DW and one travelling one, I happened to see it at the Easter Show however did not ride it, it did have big lines though. Now while I love that Australia has these rides, We already have 2 operating, I would have loved to see a new experience come to Australia that we haven't got yet. However having said that they all seem to be coming to Australia at the same time, so maybe each company wanted one without knowing that another 2 companies were getting one as well, if thats the case they must have a good marketing team and really hit Australia hard in getting all three people to sign without the others knowing!!

Thanks for the great photos! I really hope this September rollercoaster makes use of the space they are using... It's also good that it's in plain sight of the carpark, meaning our friends that live 5 mins away won't even have to enter the park for a construction update! If they have already fenced it off, I believe they are now waiting for the track to arrive and then construction will begin, am I correct? If that's the case, when do you believe we will start seeing construction?

not totally sure, they have started construction on a building in the disk-o area, and there is some metal rods (I presume for the concrete footings) but from what I could tell the only thing that's been done in the coaster area is the fencing and a camping-style gazebo in place. I would presume it wouldn't be too long though, considering how few months it is til they are supposed to open.

In the left, we can see some landscaping is happening. And obviously, River Rapids are under maintenance at the moment. Nothing too special, just wanted to share.
