Yes, I was there a couple of weeks ago and construction has started. All groundwork seems to be complete and several pieces of track were in place. Did take a couple of photos probably nothing worth uploading. May do so on my next days off though. It certainly looks on schedule for it's early December opening. Edit: Sorry www worker, somehow I completely missed your post at the time. I finally got there a couple of weeks ago. The giant slide looks good and was just receiving it's final touches, and the flume should receive some pretty decent theming and start to round out the park's offerings rather nicely. Mod Edit: Moved posts from the Redback thread to this thread originally started by POP. Obviously as these posts were posted before POP created this topic, they appear above his

Ask and you shall receive... post-754-0-05764600-1315711461_thumb.jpg The smaller of the two bends is in place. post-754-0-98982200-1315711480_thumb.jpg Above you can see more flume pieces. post-754-0-68855700-1315711500_thumb.jpg More track. This shot also shows the flume ride's proximity to The Giant Redback. All three photos were taken from the Redback's loading platform. post-754-0-81229700-1315712824_thumb.jpg And just for good measure, a shot of the Redback.

Just a quick update (sorry, no photos this time around) ... The Flume Ride's construction has gone vertical very quickly. I drove past on Tuesday to spot some large supports in place, and the again today to see one of the hills already erected. The crane was definitely still in action, late into the afternoon, and it looks like things will come together really quickly. Unfortunately, I wasn't really in a position to stop in for photos this time around, and I doubt I'll get to for a few weeks, but hopefully someone manages to get there over the school holidays, as it would be good to see this thing take shape.

For those interested, I popped by on the weekend and took a couple of ordinary photos. They are up on my blog: http://themeparknut.blogspot.com/2011/09/aussie-world.html Looking down from the Ferris wheel, it looked like loading on the left hand side, go straight up the small lift hill, loop down and around to the bigger lift hill, and then down to complete the figure 8 and the loading station. It's hard to be certain though, because not much apart from the track you can see is complete. It is definitely vertical though!!!

^ Thanks so much! Getting excited now! Definitely going to take my little cousin and brother there this summer when its open (as an excuse for me to go haha) I really do think this flume ride is going to make Aussie World so much more attractive. It's a solid family ride and one that can be enjoyed by EVERYONE as opposed to the crazy mouse, disqo, etc. It'll also be AW's first water ride and water ride's are essential for a theme park. Maybe in a few years they'll get a *major* ride. Doubtful but these new rides should definitely give it a big boost for the coming years.

I agree! It's a great family ride, and a great choice since the other major parks appear to be getting out of the family ride business (prove me wrong, Movie World). It will be fascinating to see if they add any major theming to this ride, as that can make a big difference on a flume ride. The concept art looks like it might. Wait and see! I agree it is doubtful they would get a major ride, but you never know. They seem to have more real estate to expand into. If further coast development brings more money to the park, then why not!

^ Yep there is a lot of land there at the back (especially where the 'luge' used to be. As for the flume ride themeing, I'm confident it'll be decent after seeing the Redback themeing (something AW did wayyyyy better than Dreamworld for their Shockwave). I'm also looking forward to seeing what they do with the boats.

Fair point Gazza about Castaway Bay. I'm not a fan of it personally, but it is still a decent attempt at a new family attraction! I'll pay that. I am just worried by the recent closures at MW. Again, I hope they prove me wrong. I guess I support AW spending money on family rides, even if it is only because they can't afford anything better.

Judging by the pics that I have seen, this ride is an identical layout to "Pirates Revenge" that travels to the major shows. Based on how drenched you get on that ride, this attraction is sure to be a soaker!

Let's hope so!!

How on earth does a flume ride travel to shows? Ive never seen one at a show and I'd imagine it would be quite a lot of work to set up (considering you need water). Anyway yeah it's identical to the flume ride in Bridlington (called 'Jungle River') that recently came into the media spotlight when two of the passengers got ejected from one of the boats on the large downhill. One of the passengers, an elderly woman, got airlifted to hospital and ended up losing a leg due to the severe injuries. Apparently there was not enough water on the downhill which caused the boat to halt abruptly. I hope Aussie World keep an eye on that, could be a problem.
