Luna Park is unique as a great and rare surviving example of an amusement park and of fantasy architecture influenced by the art-deco idiom of the 1930s. The smiling Luna Park Face represents the collective childhood of Sydney and has become as much an iconic symbol of Sydney as the Sydney Harbour Bridge and the Opera House. Do you remember the colour, excitement, the dances, the romances, the sweet stickiness of the fairyfloss, the devon smell of hot dogs? Coney Island, the Crystal Palace, the famous face and towers, the Dodgems, the Rotor, Penny Arcade, the River Caves, the Ghost Train, the Tumble Bug and the Big Dipper. Some of these are long-gone, but some have been retained and woven back in to the new future for Luna Park. Our special tour, before its official public opening, will send you back in time and forward into the future to relive the sight and sounds of Luna Park. Luna Park's troubled past has seen many individuals and organisations passionate to save it. Our expert speakers, Artist Peter Kingston, Architect Ken Maher, Chairman - Hassell Architects and Peter Hearne, MD Luna Park Sydney, as well as John MacDonnell, Ringmaster, Stardust Circus, join the National Trust to present a unique perspective on the many faces of Luna Park, the heritage and history of this special place. And some excitement!!!!. Book now and bring your friends to a National Trust Fundraising event. The National Trust thanks its supporters Luna Park Sydney, The Cabinet, K B Kandy.
