New show at the Wanner Bros Movie World Show Stage?

Recommended Posts

Hey there theme parks followers! When I noticed when I went to MW on Sunday I tried to see What's Up Rock? I noticed there's no sign of it showing being on. I know Hillbilly Slasher was in there in Halloween. but the show has moved to the Main Street i noticed the show has shorten a lot! What do you think Will it be time for a new show in the stage it's self or are they still removing hillbilly it self who knows? A only MW What's ya idea :)/> leave a reply below

Please - for the last time - stop suggesting rides be installed in the show stage! As it is, it's the only all-weather show-venue (the roof leaks all over the place and isn't very pleasant to stand and watch a show). On top of that, the floor in the seating area is slanted, and there isn't much room in there to do much of anything as far as a ride goes. Soarin has been compared to MW by Gazza a while back - when compared to the Roxy (which would be similar in size I would imagine), so no - a soarin type ride won't fit without a purpose built structure several times larger than anything any of our parks currently have. I'd love to see the return of a western themed show, preferably a stunt show.

I believe MickeyD was making a reference to the cancelled plans to add a Soarin' clone on the site of the show stage...

This attraction was allegedly cancelled because an engineering firm could not be found who would be able to build within Warner Bros. Movie World's budget. Instead Movie World have changed their plans to a new roller coaster, expected in 2005. The attraction was set to be built on the location of the former Maverick show set. Movie World had secured the Imax projection equipment from the closed Brisbane Imax at Southbank.

http://www.parkz.com...arin_Clone.html Also, just for future reference, the size of the show stage is a fair bit larger than the Roxy Theatre. Since the Disney installations have two ride systems in the one building, I would think you could potentially create a clone in roughly half the space if you were willing to cut the capacity of the ride. In saying all of this, I would prefer for the venue to return to being a stage for a western-themed show, just as AlexB said.

I'd prefer to see the venue used as it is, for a stage show. There's already a site where the Loony Tunes river ride was for a new ride, and if they really wanted to I think they could easily enough fit in at least one more somewhere in the park. The sound stage is a good venue as it is for a stage show. I liked it when it was actually used as a sound stage as part of the "behind the scenes tour".

I would not worry too much about patent on this kind of rides : http://www.dynamicattractions.com/products.html (provider of Soarin' but this is their version of this ride wich they can sell) http://www.robocoaster.com/motion-theatre (partner of the previous one, but can be the provider too) http://www.blooloop.com/PressReleases/Simtec-presents-HEXaFLITE-theatre-at-IAAPA-2011/3170 (german company, independant from all the other) http://www.vekoma.com/index.php/specialities-and-attractions/panoramic-flight-simulator (no need to introduce them) http://www.intaminworldwide.com/amusement/Simulators/Panoramic+Flight+Simulator/tabid/137/ProductNumber/Panoramic+Flight+Simulator/language/de-DE/Default.aspx And I'm sure, some other manufacturers could be find. But yes you are right there is a patent on the way to do it. : http://www.google.com/patents/US6354954?dq=Sumner;+Mark+W.&hl=fr&sa=X&ei=-w03UafJA4fBPLSRgOAB&ved=0CDsQ6AEwAQ So if some manufacturer find another way (and in the previous bunch of links it seems like they did)

^ Careful you'll be on push's blocklist soon and have a thread about you too! I'd love to see more Looney Tunes return to the park. I don't think many of you agreed before but I think they're still relevant and entertaining for all ages. Rides, shows, anything to have it back. (Yes I still miss LTRR)

It's really just the filming an projection system that is patented however that doesn't mean squat down here outside the US. I actually think the venue should be refitted as a full on theatre style venue and be used for external shows to tour in. Ads a revenue stream to the park and a new Gold Coast entertainment venue.

Does Movie World want to be regarded as a 'small/regional park'? I'm with Rappa's idea - a touring venue would be marvellous.

At least do something with it!! <_</> When the Maverick show was in existence, at least it had a purpose and a daily use. Now it is severely underutilised and a expensive waste of space. Its akin to having Porsche in your garage but never ever driving it.... A new daily show to the standard of what Maverick used to deliver would be an excellent addition and is sorely lacking from Movieworld's mix of attractions at the moment. Edited by Jobe
