Maintenance Schedule

If you're visiting during either NSW or QLD school holidays, it is likely all the majors will be open, barring unforseen problems that cannot be avoided.

Outside those times, it's useful to know what the history of the attractions are - I recall someone pointing out a while ago that VRTP (movie world, sea world and wet n wild) usually have a set calendar for maintainence where the same attraction goes down at the same time every year (again, barring unforseen circumstances)... so maybe if you look at the 2013 calendar, it might help figure out whats likely to be down at that time next year?

(Of course, Storm cannot be relied upon yet - new openings may have unforseen problems which take them down almost immediately. In some cases these types of issues can be ongoing for months - ala Universal Singapore's duelling coaster whose name escapes me right now.)

Battlestar Galactica? How long was that ride been down for? It was a year or so wasn't it? Pretty sure it's also down right now, too.

Anyway, If you're visiting during the April school holidays I'd doubt they'd have planned maintenance scheduled.

Based on the 2013 schedule this is a rough outline of what to expect from Movie World. This was similar to the 2012 schedule too, obviously it might change for this year but I'd say that's what to expect... Generally Green Lantern has 2x smaller periods of maintenance instead of one long one, with Wild West Falls being the longest period.

---Xmas Holidays End---

Superman: Escape (1st week of feb - 3rd week of feb)

Green Lantern: (4th Week Feb - 1st week March) Batwing SpaceShot: (2nd and 3rd week of March)

---Easter Holidays---

Arkham Asylum: (Mid april - Early May)

RoadRunner Rollercoaster (Late May - Early June) Scooby Doo Spooky Coaster: (Majority of June) ---June Holidays---

Wild West Falls (Early July - Mid / Late August) Justice League: (Early - Mid September) ---Fright Nights / Schoolies--- Green Lantern: (Early / Mid November) Hope this helps a little bit :)

I'd say the cable or something to do with the launch has probably come to the end of it's life and is due for a change (uneducated guess)

The paint work seems to be holding up really well. Haven't noticed anything wrong with the dark portion (last went fright nights) that would need it to be down for repairs.

Someone on here will have a better idea I guess.

I love their wording 'will benefit from maintenance'... nicely spun, movieworld!

  • GREEN LANTERN Coaster will be closed for scheduled maintenance from Monday 3rd February 2014 and will re-open Monday 17th February 2014. 14 days
  • BATWING Spaceshot will be closed for scheduled maintenance from Monday 3rd March 2014 and will re-open Monday 24th March 2014. 21 days
  • SUPERMAN Escape will be closed for scheduled maintenance from Monday 28th April 2014 and will re-open Monday 9th June 2014.42 days
  • ARKHAM ASYLUM Coaster will be closed for scheduled maintenance from Monday 9th June 2014 and will re-open Monday 30th June 2014. 21 days

Kids’ WB! Fun Zone:

  • ROADRUNNER Rollercoaster will be closed for scheduled maintenance from Monday 24th February 2014 and will re-open Monday 31st March 2014. 35 days
  • Pounce'n'Bounce will be closed for scheduled maintenance from Monday 5th May 2014 and will re-open Monday 26th May 2014. 21 days
  • TWEETY Carousel will be closed for scheduled maintenance from Monday 26th May 2014 and will re-open Monday 9th June 2014. 14 days

You kind of expect SE to have a longer maintenance period, but it's interesting that Arkham, Green Lantern and Batwing all have a shorter maintenance period than a kiddie coaster.

I'm also curious - Justice League isn't here at all - naturally maintenance wise it's a bit different to the rest of the park, but surely it would need an annual maintenance period too... is this just the first half of the year and we'll see Scooby, WWF, JL3D and other WB kids attractions in the second half? does that fit with previous schedules?

My bet, and I could be completely wrong, but I wouldn't be surprised if this extended closure for Superman was for atleast a repaint. Whilst not looking horrible *cough* claw *cough* it certainly isn't looking great and could use a new lick of paint. A while back I noticed some test "patches" on a support under the launch, whether it's related or not I guess we will find out.

When would the parks announce there maintenance schedule for next year? Thinking of heading over in April or May next year? Thanks Hey guys, Sorry if this has been covered previously, but cannot find the info here or on any of the websites. Do the VIP passes give u discounted access for family/friends like the DW passes do? It is a flat discount or larger in your birthday month like DW?

To answer your first question, maintenance schedules for 2015? Probably around the same time this years was posted, so January some time. Not sure on the rest. Edited by Alex Berriman

The WipeOut is approaching 15 years old now, and it's probably getting close to the end of it's service life slowly and it needs a major overhaul. I for one am glad they are taking the time to keep this ride maintained than getting rid of it as it's probably my favourite ride in the park. I will admit that is a VERY long rehab period so there must be some pretty major work being done to it. I would love for them to maybe repaint the ride buildings (queue line / control room) back to it's natural timber colours to make it more like a beach and maybe a complete do-over of the theming to really bring it up to scratch whilst it has this extensive rehab as well. Will be interesting to see how it runs once it comes out of rehab.
