VRTP Sydney Park

So I heard this on the news on the radio in Sydney going back nearly half a month now. However, I haven't been able to find one single article about this on the Internet so I hope someone knows what I talking about.

But while listening to a breakfast radio show every half hour in the news break they airing the story of the possibility of VRTP's opening a new theme park in Sydney following the massive success of WnWS. I mean this news doesn't surprise me at all, my guess was we would see something like this in the future and the VR was using the WnW brand as a testing ground; if it is true it seems to have come together a lot quicker though than what I thought it would.

What I didn't like about the story is they said VR were exploring the possibility of building another Movie World in Sydney. I just feel like really with only a population of only 22million, can't we get something we haven't seen here in Australia yet?!

What is surprising me is for a radio station to air the story but not find it anywhere else, I mean they're a news organisation so I'm presuming they must ave heard it somewhere to report and not just get my hopes up for nothing :P

Just wanted to know since I can't find any info online if someone had heard of something as well (I guess not though otherwise someone else would have already started a thread).

I'm not saying it isn't true, but if I had to hazard a guess, someone associated with the park has probably been posed the question "after the success of WnWS, are you considering bringing down any other parks from the gold coast" and they probably responded with something 'MW-esque' being possible (mainly because SW in western sydney isn't really an option)... they've then taken that to be 'headline of the day' on a slow news day... and bob's your uncle. It could even be an old quote from December or January that they've rehashed.

It wouldn't surprise me in the least though, if they were considering it.

if it is true its going to make the new sydney's wonderland planing harder to get off the ground

Well if it's a plane, it should get off the ground pretty easy...

And I disagree - I don't think it's going to make it harder... On the flip side I don't think it'll make it easier... but healthy competition doesn't hurt theme parks - it encourages investment and development - Take movie world dreamworld, almost literally across the road from each other... and for years it's been a tit-for-tat development program (in more recent years one overtakes the other but thats besides the point)

Good theme parks breed more good theme parks in my opinion... standalone parks without competition tend to stagnate.
