Also worth noting that he big blue erectable shade thing infront of the quarantine area has been replaced with a proper shade structure.

it's just a shame they couldn't have had them up before it was opened to the public. Thankfully now, they've got something that looks presentable, and future guests will have no idea the ugliness that came before it...

DREAMWORLD is giving one of its most popular attractions a multi-million dollar makeover.

The Gold Coast theme park has confirmed Tiger Island will undergo a redevelopment, including a new 500-seat stadium and themed shopping and dining outlets.

Premier Annastacia Palaszczuk was there to turn the first sod on Sunday morning and said the $7m revamp will create 80 new jobs during construction.

drreamworld already has a 1,200 strong workforce during peak times, and is one of the biggest employers on the Gold Coast,” Ms Palaszczuk said.

The Coomera attraction draws 1.4 million guests each year, including celebrities from across Australia and the world.

The redevelopment will incorporate strategically placed windows to allow guests to safely come face-to-face with a tiger, while bigger splash pools will be created for the stars of the show.

Apologises for the editing. Posted from my phone and was difficult to edit out GCB's million hyperlinks

I wouldn't be surprised if they never had plans to use the old shades. It may of just been that they had to rush something out because of a delay in the construction or materials being supplied.
