Pure imagination: Dreamworld ads feature fake attractions and misleading experiences

Snap! You got me there @andrewt92. I wrote 800 words about the campaign that pointed out some confusing and poorly executed aspects. I'm a veritable party-pooper!

The crux of my argument was that despite being a great concept for Dreamworld, in many instances the editing and execution doesn't distinguish between things that are real and things that could be real. If you've got an alternative opinion that doesn't rely on ad hominem attacks or just "but it's imagination!" then I'm all ears.

I think what people were talking about with regards to parkgoers using their imagination at theme parks kinda relates to the Gruen Transfer, which helps with that mindset of 'escaping from reality'. Even though our parks don't have the architecture that Disney and Universal have, there's still that fantasy feeling.

With regards to the advertisement, I didn't mind the imaginative bits, even though it'd be cool to have the canoe ride. What really bugged me was the sexism - what do the girls get to do? Eat ice cream whilst the boys have great adventures?

Quite right, @joz, you've passed the test.  Thank you for taking care of the patriarchy.  Of course, 4-1 is the correct ratio.  It reflects the ratio of men to women on the Liberal Party's benches in our national parliament.  I guess, the girls need their imagination to deal with gender imbalances in society as a whole. ;)
