New Dreamworld jingle

13 posts in this topic

As interesting as it is to see Dreamworld try new things like this every now and again, I really wish they put some more thought into the lyrics rather than letting us know its a 'thrill' all day and all night (even though the park is only open until 5pm?) followed by several 'ohs...'

Unless this song wasn't actually recorded for dreamworld particularly?

More than likely - like this one -

Lyrics:

Wey-oh, wey-oh

We'll be as one in wonder, wonderland

Through my doubts
Hold me high
Through your strength
Tears will dry
Break these walls that divide
Build a path, be my guide

Gotta be a will, gotta be a way
But only if we learn to give
Spread a little love 'cos it's never too late
People of the world

Come together we can hold it in our hands
A wonder, wonder, wonder, wonderland
And forever united, we will stand
In wonder, wonder, wonder, wonderland
Wey-oh, wey-oh
We'll be as one in wonder, wonderland

(Like that, y'all, like that, yes)

Sure as time (time) turns a page (page)
Destiny (ooh) leads the way
And breathe new life (life)
Make a change (change)
And together (ooh) we'll find our way

Gotta be a time, gotta be a place
We can bridge our lives as one
Every ounce of love and hope embrace
People of the world

Come together we can hold it in our hands
A wonder, wonder, wonder, wonderland
And forever (and forever yeah) united we will stand

In wonder, wonder, wonder, wonderland
Wey-oh, wey-oh
We'll be as one in wonder, wonderland
Wey-oh, wey-oh
In wonder, wonder, wonder, wonderland

When we're blind, help us see
We'll find peace and harmony
When we're lost (when I'm lost)
Take us home (take us home)
To wonder, wonderland

Come together we can hold it in our hands
A wonder, wonder, wonder, wonderland
And forever united, we will stand
In wonder, wonder, wonder (ah yeah), wonderland
Come together (come together, yeah)
We can hold it in our hands
A wonder, wonder, wonder (uh-oh), wonderland (oh, yeah)
And forever (forever, yeah) united, we will stand
In wonder, wonder, wonder, wonderland
Wey-oh, wey-oh
We'll be as one in wonder, wonderland (ah, yeah)
Wey-oh (we should come together)
Wey-oh (we'll be united forever)
In wonder, wonder, wonder, wonderland
Wey-oh, wey-oh
We'll be as one in wonder, wonderland
Wey-oh, wey-oh
In wonder, wonder,wonder, wonderland

Actually, considering it was a commercial release song that was used as the park theme, there isn't too much about those lyrics I could pick on - except maybe the tears and the blind parts.

Did I like the song? Yes.

Did I like his version? Not as much as Gene Wilder

Did the music and the imagery go well together? Yes

Did the whole 'we can't be fucked putting any special effort into anything so we just want you to imagine that this ride themed to some apocalyptic wasteland with a skull at the front is somehow a training facility for astronauts' thing actually make any sense? No.

Did the campaign work as a result? No - and I think its clear by the fact that we are around six months past 'imagination' and we've already got a new song with more energy and a different message.

To my knowledge this is just a digital cut using existing vision & audio. No need to panic about new theme songs, the track they used has been around for around three years now.

The thing about Pure Imagination campaign is you need to remember the broader context.  It was their first time advertising since October, they needed to have a campaign to get their name out in a positive way that was super inoffensive.  For me it was a tentative breaking of the ice.

As for this ad, it really is a total nothing.  There's nothing engaging about it, took me about 4 or 5 times watching it before I read the offer at the end.  Seeing how it's the same ad they were running before with different audio, it's purpose is clearly to just be a fun, quick, and cheap as shit way to get their name out there.
