I thought that's what Seal Harbour was for!

Seal Harbour is not a presentation and education venue. It has educational signage around the area, but the Seals are predominantly left to their own devices with minimal interactions. It also doesn't have the capacity to be a 'presentation on seal training' as too many guests would be unable to attend. Doing it in a stadium seated venue is the better option, much better controlled, and with a full AV complement.

Yeah, as others have said Seal Harbour wouldn't work for this sort of show, since it has quite narrow walkways so not enough capacity, and a lot of the dry land in the exhibit isnt really big enough for a stage (And there's no backstage to bring one seal out and send one back etc)

The one at San Antonio had them introducing each animal, showing how they use clickers and rewards to to it, showed how they don't co operate sometimes.

And obviously the show arena has the prop elements they actually train the animals on.

It was a bit more involved than when you go to zoos/wildlife parks and there's occasionally a keeper who gives a brief talk at the exhibit.

It's supposed to be about FUN!!!

No. Sorry. You don't get to do that.

You can crap on about how Movie World is supposed to be about Movies, and Dreamworld is supposed to be about dreams, but you don't get to say everything at Sea World is supposed to be about fun.

it promotes conservation through education and the rescue and rehabilitation of sick, injured or orphaned wildlife

Wikipedia lists it as a Marine park first, oceanarium second, and a theme park third.

Sure, making the experience entertaining or fun is more likely to encourage guests to part with their cash, but at the end of the day we've seen all aspects of the park make steps towards 'less about entertainment' and 'more about conservation and education' - the evolution of the dolphin show from my first visit in 1994 to today, and now the same steps (in some form) for the seals, and the more 'zoo, conservation and preservation' aspects of exhibits such as polar bear shores, shark bay, ray reef, which are less about entertainment and more about 'this is reality'
