I don't know where you got that from but with colorbond that isn't true.

I'm an architect and a project I recently worked on required colorbond. The client (who is working with a strict budget) wasn't sure what colour they wanted, so the builder got a quote for various colours and they said the surfmist worked out the cheapest.

Tell the builder they need new suppliers. 🙂

Car insurance is cheaper for white cars as the replacement parts are cheaper. I believe the parts are manufactured in white then resprayed to match the car colour, unless its a specialist part, otherwise no idea.

Colorbond isn't how they paint a car.

My views

1) If you can see the white building from outside the park who cares

2) If you can see the white building from a couple obscure places or on the monorail who cares. We’ve been looking at that Bermuda show building for decades and also plenty of back of house from the monorail

3) I doubt you will see the show building from anywhere on the cue and also likely not on the ride either so that’s good.

4) I’m hopeful the places you may see it from say over by Nick it will be dressed with landscaping or something else to hide it. But also this might take a few years to grow in which is common.

5) I can very much appreciate everyone ma skepticism on this topic as there have been some VRTP fails or this nature in recent times. However for me personally I’ll wait to see the finished product before I endlessly debate the colour of the green beam.

I just went through every colour at varying lengths and quantities and they all were the same price?

It doesn't do that for me but if you are using your phone you you might have to refresh each time to get the prices to change.   If you can't get that to work a simple custom orb search at bunnings and you can compare colorbond colour cost.

Also people think surfmist is white but it it's actually a really light grey that looks white.  During certain sun conditions you can see the grey in it.  This makes surfmist a colour.

@rappa It's just a running commentary and not final thoughts and not something anybody is willing to die on their sword for.

new station update provided via instagram (if it is unavailable, i’ll post it)

it appears the building itself is done and it looks like rocks and some blue rock work is going up now, looks like the station might actually be themed.

*said in all earnest* that's probably one of the most sensible things ever said about VRTP constructions.

All standard colourblind prices are the same, there is an upcharge for matt, and metallic colours. There would be no difference if they went white or woodland grey etc in pricing

I'm not sure where all this talk about other colours costing more came from, I don't believe it's that much difference (except as mentioned where they're particularly fancy finishes) but I am aware that in the construction industry, some manufacturers have reduced the number of colours \ styles they offer in their range, to keep up with demand. Eg: if they only have two production lines, they're only doing their two most popular colours, because it takes too long to shut down the production line to change colours.

So you might not pay more for the colour, but you might wait longer \ not be able to get it at all if you need a specific colour, as I understand it.

TO be clear, i'm not saying this IS the case here, but it is A case in construction and manufacturing generally right now.

Actually looks pretty good! May even top Scooby for the best themed station.

It's a shame though that we have to rely on cheeky Instagram stories to get updates on the construction. I wish they kept that construction blog updated...

Maybe they were hoping to reveal it as a surprise and didn’t expect some dumb subbie to go posting it for the gram ;)

I mean if that were the strategy they were going with it's a poor one. This is probably one of the most anticipated (and controversially delayed) attractions we've seen in Australia in a hot minute - and they started off very VERY "non village" with a full blown construction blog and semi-regular updates...

And then around the time the ride topped out, they stopped updating it. It's a hugely missed opportunity to have built the anticipation.  Now sure, they've had delays, and obviously that's lead to very little happening on-site for them to report on, but all that has done is created an even bigger vacuum by having a blog, and then withdrawing further updates.

Its been a long time since our parks premiered a new ride in a spectacular way, and I was hopeful that this was the start of a change - only to flop. its no wonder people are crawling the 'Gram (and flying their own drones over the park, etc etc) to get content when the park has left such a void in such a content-driven world.

They would have had a better chance of having a 'big surprise reveal' if they continued to control the narrative... instead of.... crickets.

I've heard that this was due to staff leaving. And it seems, unfortunately, that the current staff are back to not being interested in creating attraction updates etc. Disappointing.

Meanwhile it looks like the Leviathan station is going to be amazing. But I wonder why they're apparently doing something so good for this, but they created the world's most basic stations for GL and HyperCoaster.
