DC Rivals HyperCoaster Review

by XxMrYoshixX, 9 months ago
Despite it not being the tallest or fastest hyper coaster around, DC Rivals manages to pack a huge punch with a great mix of forces and airtime. Why Amusement Today picked Mystic Timbers over this coaster for "Best New Ride" is anyone's guess.

Review Criteria

Great

Enjoyment

The ride is a hybrid of every type of hyper; a great first drop, intense grey-out moments like on Intimidator 305, great floater airtime like on B&M hypers, kick-ass ejector airtime, and intense turns like on Intamin hypers.
Great

Effectiveness

When they say, "This is the greatest theme park attraction in Australia", it is. No questions asked.
Very High

Intensity

A great mix of forces and airtime on the coaster. Airtime is very good on the non-inverting loop, first airtime hill, and the set of bunny hills at the end of the coaster.
Good

Rider Comfort

Very comfortable restraints. The ride is very smooth, but however can get jerky in some sections.
Good

Pacing

Every element of the ride is as good as the others.
Poor

Theming/Storyline

Theming is limited beyond a few nice billboards.
Great

Upkeep/Presentation

The ride was fairly new when I rode it, so it was in very good condition.
Good

Queue/Efficiency

Operations is fairly quick, and the coaster runs with 2 trains. Capacity is very poor for the Backwards experience, however. The ride is one of the only ones in the park to feature a single rider queue.
