Shark Bay opens

Sea World's latest interactive environmentally conscious attraction, Shark Bay opened April 9. Roller-Coaster.com.au showcases the marine life in the Shark Bay Gallery.

The Shark Lagoon features all the bigger, more dangerous sharks, including the impressive man-killer, the Tiger shark. Guests can walk all around the perimeter of the lagoon above water level, or for the unique underwater view there are two 10x3m acrylic panels which bring you face-to-face with the sharks.

The Reef Lagoon is a brighter change from the grey sharks of the Shark Lagoon. Featuring fish in every colour of the rainbow, this lets you see all the smaller fish, typically found in coral reefs, such as in North Queensland. There are also some smaller sharks, and rays which balance out the selection of marine creatures in here.

The Inter-Tidal Zone flows from the Touch Pool into the Reef Lagoon and contains anemones and other creatures that typically live in the areas of coral reefs subject to the changing depths of the tides. These shallow pools let you see the marine animals within very easily and clearly from above.

There's the Touch Pool where you can get a hands-on look at some of the smaller, harmless creatures of the reef, such as starfish, sea cucumbers and others.

There are a variety of additional interactive options available, for everyone from the under tens, right up to certified Scuba divers. They do cost extra on top of your entrance. Contact the park for more details on these opportunities.
