Main Street came to a standstill as thousands of pint-sized fans awaited the arrival of The Wiggles.

Thunderbolt was Australia's first looping roller coaster and still today hasn't had its track length beaten in Australia.

Thunderbolt closed August 8 2003. Part of its site is taken by the Whitewater World water park and part of its station is currently used as a changeroom for FlowRider.

The coaster featured blocking capabilities for two trains and the park did own two trains but two were rarely operated simultaneously. The braking system was a very basic system that is very different to that used on most modern coasters. Instead of using fins, plastic coated metal pads would compress the two sides of the trains, bringing it to a halt.

The ride featured a relatively simple, yet twisted, layout. Essentially it was a series of drops and turns.

The train also passed through the first of these loops.

Thunderbolt featured two 21m tall loops in direct succession after the first drop.

As trains enter the iconic golden loops they let out a loud roaring sound that can be heard througout the park.

It was anything but a smooth ride, but it still managed to provide a fun ride.

Thunderbolt's winding track became an icon of the Gold Coast in its twenty years at the park.

Mad Mouse is a Herschell steel wild mouse ride, a simple and small travelling style coaster that is found in the park.

The thrill ride is expected open in September of this year.

At this stage early construction is underway with footings being poured.

The ride will be an S&S Space Shot, a pneumatic powered ride which will shoot riders up and then back down.
