The train is pulled to the top by a "sled" attached to a cable that runs in a trough in the middle of the track.

The attractive station building.
Cedar point has three car rides. Antique cars is one of them.
The ride can operate 6 trains; two in the load area, one on the launch stage, one on the track and two in the unload area.
Looking up at the structure and service lift.
The curved unloading platform.
A long straight magnetic brake run brings the trains to a smooth stop.
The queue is located in the middle of the ride, giving a good view of the action.
A launch to a speed of 193km/h gives trains enough momentum to clear the 128m high top hat. On the trip down the track drops through a 270 degree vertical spiral.
The loading station has a modern clamshell roof.
Non riders can watch the action from the grandstand, and just like a real raceway, you can buy food from the stand underneath.
The launch is very similar in concept to the way the catapult works on an aircraft carrier. Basically, hydraulic fluid is pressurised in a system of accumulator tanks. When the ride launches the fluid is released rapidly into a turbine. The turbine spins, winding in the cable, and pulling the train down the launch rapidly.
Essentially, a cable runs the length of the launch track, and the train hooks onto a "sled" linked to the cable.
