A section of the old "Rolling Thunder" wooden coaster.
Like diving of a cliff.
One of the worlds steepest wooden coaster drops.
Playlands Castaway Cove main entrance.
The main entry to the park passes through this arcade.
The park is free to enter, with rides paid individually.
Playlands Castaway Cove on the Ocean City boardwalk.
A lot of ride in a small space.
The ride has a policy of only running at set time intervals when partially loaded, so good luck getting an action shot in a quiet period!
The final element is a non inverting dive loop back down into the station.
Next comes a non inverting Imelmann.
After the top hat it does half a loop before flicking over at the top, banking outwards and dropping back down.
GaleForce launches back and forth a couple of times to build up enough speed to make it over the top hat and down the beyond vertical drop. The track then completes a series of non inverting dive loops and immelmanns, with some very tight twists that seem right on the edge of engineering capability. In the background we can see the lift hill of Wild Waves, and one of its hills.
Galeforce station. The ride runs a single 12 seater train. It is similar to their larger El Loco car, but with vest restraints.
Under the Wild Waves structure. The layout is a whole bunch of dips, with wide turns at the ends.
Wild Waves has a short section of lift hill before making a turn and continuing up further.
The Wild Waves Coaster loading area.
The largest attractions at the park are GaleForce and Wild Waves Coaster. Wild Waves is a family coaster, that runs a couple of circuits around GaleForce in the middle. Gale force is a launch coaster with a very tight and twisted layout.
