  1. These maintenance schedules really annoy me because our family was going to visit the parks in early March and all the coasters at SW are closed plus two rides at MW. Just glad I'm not going between May 3rd and May 16th 3/4 of MW's coasters are closed.
How can they charge 70 bucks or so, to go to a park, with 3 rollercoasters closed, in other words, half the park. it seems abit rough if u ask me.
  2. I think there has to be a mistake in there, surely! Especially the overlap between attractions in May...The only coaster open would be Roadrunner
Youd hope so, but i also checked out sea worlds maintenance, which doesnt look to good for march anyway: 'Jet Rescue' - closed for scheduled maintenance from 1st February - 28th March inclusive. 'Corkscrew' - closed for scheduled maintenance from 1st - 21 March inclusive.
  3. i have just noticed this years maintenace for mw put up: 'Batwing Spaceshot' - closed from Monday 1st February - Sunday 7th February inclusive for scheduled maintenance. 'Superman Escape' - closed from Monday 8th February - Sunday 14th February inclusive for scheduled maintenance. 'Looney Tunes River Ride' - closed from Monday 15th February - Sunday 28th March inclusive for scheduled maintenance. 'Superman Escape' - closed from Monday 3rd May - Sunday 25th July inclusive for scheduled maintenance. 'Superman Escape' - closed from Monday 7th July - Sunday 20th July inclusive for scheduled maintenance. 'Road Runner Rollercoaster' - closed from Monday 1st February - Sunday 14th March inclusive for scheduled maintenance. 'Scooby Spooky Coaster' - closed from Monday 3rd May - Sunday 20th June inclusive for scheduled maintenance. 'Lethal Weapon' - closed from Monday 26th April - Sunday 16th May inclusive for scheduled maintenance. Already i can see that SE will be out for about 3 months, which is quite along time for a fairly new coaster dont you think? and could i also say that if i was visiting the park between May 3rd and May 16th, why would you bother with LW, SDSC and SE all out for maintaince. thats half the rides main rides out. I am hoping some of this will change or be a mistake for any tourists visiting the parks in these days, cause i think they are going to be really dissappointed!

  4. how ever many of four days (fri-mon) I wish to work off peak, and whenever I want to work on peak. You are alternated between the rides you know (I know almost all) perhaps not every day, but often enough.
ahh rite, i see, so its like u work whenever u want really. is that ur main job? or is it just a part time/ casual job for u? and do u know wat tradesmen they employ there? like what are the people who fix the rides and that, are they just engineers?
  5. Is anyone familiar with how the jobs work at luna Park? I know the park is only opened off peak fri-Mon, but when the park isnt opened, are there any people working there behind the scenes and in offices? because i have just finished my hsc, and would consider a job if anything at luna park with my interest in theme parks. But i dunt see my self only working fri to mon as a ride op or whatever. If anyone could give me any info, id appreciate it. Atm, i am off work with my mechanic apprentice cause of a sprained ankle and with tafe registration in a few days, i wanna know what ill be doing. thanks in advance! JD

  6. But I still think Halo 3 is better for online multi-player.... :P
i have to disagree with u on this one, i do like halo 3,dont get me wrong, and the multiplayer is fun, except what has always annoyed since its came out, is the leveling system of it. im talking social games when you receive 1 experience point for a winning game, when someone on the team might not do anything they still get experience, yet, the losing team might have 1 player who gets up to 25 kills for example and doesnt get any experience for it. Considering most online games for halo are around 10 minutes long, if ur playin with idiots, you cant do much about it, u quit u lose experience. its too heavily relied on teamwork, and when most of the time therse days, i cant find any1 on their with a headset! You compare this leveling system to COD, even if you are on a losing team, u can still try get kills and earn experience, its not a waste of time, like if u were losing 30-5 on team slayer on halo!
  7. In relation to: "As holiday crowds pour through the gates this week, park bosses are looking at maintaining their competitive edge next year as Melbourne and Cairns expand their theme park offerings, tempted by the near six million annual visitors to Movie World, Dreamworld, Sea World, Wet'n'Wild and Whitewater World" Am i missing something here, or when they say melbourne is this refering to Luna park as gettin a revamp?

  8. For Shooters: -gears of War, really cheap atm -Halo 3 -Call of Duty(4, mw2, and WAW, there all good) -Bioshock The Rest: -Forza Motorsport 3 -Fifa 10 -Assassins Creed 1/2 If ur hooked up to xbox live, Halo 3 and Cod mw2 is the way to go. Let us know wah ttype of games ur into and we could give you a better list of games. But there probably the best ones atm. my xbox has the red ring of death atm, so lm xboxless for the next few weeks :(((

  9. I find this whole Sea Viper affair highly embarrassing for Sea World.
I have to agree! its more of a publicity stunt if you ask me. I cant see a different train, on the corkscrew track increasing attendance. but i am interested to see how much better/worse it is.
  10. The only other possible space I can think of is on top of the Dodgems next to the Tumble Bug, but it'd be almost impossible to stick a ride up there.
The space is pretty minmal up there, they do have some room, but not enough for anything long, its the perfect space for a drop tower or slingshot ride, give some extra height up there, or just scrap the tumble bug altogether!!!
  11. Sea Viper section on sea world website on rider requirements saids: Please note that persons who cannot be held tight and safely by the existing harness (eg: because of a condition, height or shape)may be unable to ride. Even though no one has used the new trains yet, could this be one of those tight squeze restrainsts? or just modern restraints which lock safely at a certain point?? Im just curious because of my own size and would want to ride it next time i head up to qld.

  12. Atleast there not bringing back the hurricane this holiday season. Forget when i was there last, on school holidays, and they brought in the hurricane, which even though had a short queue, its just not the right ride for there. 15-20 people every 4-5 minutes, its like running the giant drop on one side.

  13. Well, my brother only happen to see this show on the Nat Geo channel the other day and he recorded for me, but its one of those Megastructure shows featuring the "Ultimate Roller Coaster" which happens to be kingda ka. Not sure when its on again, but thought some people might be interested in watching it if it comes on again. Cheers! JD

  14. I'll be nice and reply. What would have happened was one or more of the hundred or so sensors on the track would have lost track of the car for a split-second. When this happens the ride automatically shuts itself down. Usually that cable under the car catches onto the car and automatically drags it back (I've been on it when it happens). It seems this time (as has happened plenty of times before, the cable failed to catch and the engineers had to walk the track and manually connect it. Then it only takes 30sec or so to reset the system and send it on its way again.
ahh right, makes sense, thanks for that!!
  15. Was at dreamworld yesterday (13/11/09) and while queing for Mick Doohans, everyone just notices the ToT car just rolling by, until it just got the vertical part, and just rolled back and sat on the track. The people on the ride probably sat there for a good 10-15 minutes. Finally saw some engineers and they were pulling up the wire in the middle of the track. Thats all i could see with it, but the ride did start again not long after, i didnt even hear the ride "power up" at all, so i dont konw if anyone knows anything mechanical about ToT that could explain the problem.

  16. LPS has to scrap the Tumble Bug, and consider putting in a Spaceshot of some sort. Or possibily a "Rainbow" even. The lack of room is the problem, but they did manage to bring in a 2 level flume called the "Big Splash" a few holiday's ago. and was very popular. It was put out the back next to the ranger. I think they should consider one of those possibly.

  17. You shouldn't have any problems. Hotel slides are usually designed for smaller kids, so they have shallower gradients (It's not so much to do with water pressure) But the body slides at WnW have fairly steep gradients, so you go pretty fast, and the rashie won't cause you to get stuck.
oh right, i always thought it was water pressure! haha. And the steep part of it, i get ya. Cheers for your help mate!
  18. i thought id post this under general theme park discussion, then to put in WnW. Anyway, from times on holidays, i have been on very small slides, lm talking hotel slides in the US for example, and have had some problems with them, cause i wear a rash shirt, not just for the sun, but i admit lm a heavy weight  Because of the rashie, it tends to cause friction with the slide. lm not sure if anyone has had any experiences of going on a slide for example, twister or river rapids at WnW with a rashie on, but i am sorta abit scared to try incase the problem of not being able to slide down, because of my bad experiences. Any feedback would be much appreciated!! Thanks.
