Charging for the bumper cars is ridiculous and pathetic. It seems like a very ill conceived idea. This now means that the $62 (or is it $64 now?) 'all inclusive' ticket is NO longer all inclusive. I take back what I said about Movie World heading in the right direction: charging for a ride in a theme park is freakin' insane and outrageous! What are they thinking? Like, seriously? Hopefully this decision will be reversed.

Hahahahahahaha.Ity was only to be shut down temporarily for 2 weeks after the opening of WhiteWaterWorld, so I'm not quite sure why it would still be closed...I'll have to get on to the maintainence personnel.

This is exactly what I hate about Dreamworld; those damn maintenance personnel closing down areas of the park without telling anyone. I'm surprised it's gone this long without anybody noticing. Oh well. Let's hope somebody reminds them that they need to take down the fences, put the slides back up, and fill up the pools.
EDIT: Shaaunernator, are you going to remind them about Eureka? That's been ages.

That's so cool. It amazes me how some travelling rides can spin massive amounts of off-balance weight. I can only assume the tiny counterweights that can be seen are extremely dense and heavy.

I like the colours and design, although I think it's a little bit two dimensional. It wouldn't have taken much extra work to make the "Intencity" signs protrude out the side of the building. I love the idea of bumper cars at Movie World! This is the kind of attraction that Movie World really needs: a filler attraction for ALL ages. I really like the direction that Movie World is headed. They've done so much to increase their capacity over the past few years. It's fabulous.

I dreamt that I was riding Superman Escape when it derailed on the loop part of the ride. The train was going too slow and it just sort of fell off during the upside down part. It wasn't until I awoke the next morning that I remembered that the ride doesn't go upside down at all.

Is this correct? It's hardly too late. The sixth film isn't being released until the end of 2008. I'd say the launch of this new attraction will tie-in with the opening of the seventh and final movie; the most anticipated book/movie of the series. The seventh book itself has been the most pre-ordered book in history. It is also expected to supersede the previous novel in being the fastest selling book of all time. I guess turning Lord of the Rings into a ride would also be too late or a waste of money?

This is pretty exciting news (and about time)! It's great to see they've decided to turn it into an entire new land rather than just a single standalone attraction. I think JK Rowling has made a good choice with Universal; in terms of innovation and theming they are second only to Disney. Can't wait until we see some construction photos later in the year. EDIT: There's a video on 'Orlando Sentinel' with someone from the Warner Bros. movie crew talking about the new attraction. Double EDIT: That video is on the official site too. Twenty acres! They are really pushing the idea of authenticity and quality: this is going to be great.

Why didn't we hear about this expo before it happened?! It'd be pretty cool to visit a theme park expo, although I guess if you didn't manage a theme park it would be hard to get in, or do they let the public visit too?

This ride has been down for maintenance for such a long time. Surely soon they'll have to make a decision about whether to reopen or close the ride permanently?

This thread really highlights the difference between a Disney theme park and a non-Disney park. Movie World's business model is all wrong. It shouldn't be about minimal spending to drive profits. It should be about maximum spending to drive profits. I couldn't imagine Walt Disney forgoing the expense of fog juice (or fog machine maintenance) to save a few measly dollars. Scooby-Doo was such an exciting and immersive ride. If they continue letting it deteriorate it'll stop receiving the rave reviews it used to get, resulting in less satisfied customers and ultimately less future sales. (Dreamworld, anyone?) If you are reading this Movie World, just buy some more fog liquid. Please? P.S. To give Movie World some credit, they have been very generous of late with capital expenditure. This is starting to pay off (the park is busier now than what it ever has been) nicely.

I was just reading this thread and thought I would clear up one of the unresolved questions.
The Theme Park Master and Kyle were indeed the same person. The YourWorld thread is pretty damn hilarious. In one of the posts, The Theme Park Master tells Kyle his true feelings: "Now, I have really never liked you, and I'm telling you now, I probably never will.". -
Cars only appear to travel in pairs because the brakes (or stopping devices) are close together in the station and in the lift. The only rules that apply is that cars cannot touch. The system can only stop vehicles at predefined stopping locations; i.e. at brakes or friction wheels. It just so happens that there are two brakes close together in the lift. So what? It's still only a very simple block system controlling it! Fail-safe electrical systems need to be simple. Simple, simple, simple. Otherwise they are prone to bugs and bugs mean fail-dangerously! I can assure you that the Scooby-Doo block system has never failed, nor do I expect it to. It would almost certainly result in serious injury and/or death. The lift mechanism itself has nothing to do with the block system. It simply monitors the block system to know when to start moving (that is, when the two blocks at the bottom are full and the two blocks at the top are empty). Finally, as for reversing, in terms of block logic, how is it any different from going forward? Does the system know or care that the wheels are moving in reverse? It's just leaving a suitable gap so the cars don't touch.

LOL. I don't think that's possible. The block system is a very simple logic system. I don't think there's any room for computational error. It is possible that problems could arise in the physical hardware that makes up the system, i.e. circuit boards, brakes, wheels, sensors... but any of these failing would be catastrophic and put the ride out of action. The delay would've been caused by a slow load/unload time.Block system error where the computer doesn't manage the block system correctly -
Age of Empires 3 and The WarChiefs Expansion are both great games. The game play, similar to Age 1 and 2, is extremely fun and the graphics are some of the best available today! You can scale the graphics down to barebones which should allow it to run on most computers. If the demo runs fine on your computer then the full version will to.

I can understand paying for novelty gimmicks like surfing a wave or getting a photo taken, but paying for a ride in a theme park is absolutely ridiculous. The rides at a theme park are not optional extras that you pay more for, like at a carnival or regional show.
