  1. Seriously the rides are closed... For good! No amount of going on and on is going to change that. Why are we STILL having the endless discussion about why the rides should or shouldn't have been closed? It's done. Hell Disneyland still has the people mover track and skyway station sitting right there in the park...

Because that's what you do on a public forum, perhaps if your over reading about it you shouldn't be reading this thread anymore? Some of us have only just started reading/posting our opinions... Also I don't like how people post "Get over it" - Just because your over it doesn't mean everyone else has to be! We're allowed to still be hung up on it and have an opinion about it and were also allowed to post our thoughts too. If YOU'RE over it YOU should stop reading the thread!
  2. Your missing the point... it doesnt matter what they are saying about Green Lantern... its the fact that that the large majority of posts on their Facebook is about Green Lantern.

Umm don't you think that's maybe because it just opened? Of course that is what they are talking about ATM. I do wonder what the main topic of conversation was on their FB at the times that LTRR and BATR2 closed though... Knowing that would clear up the FB argument. ,

Well, 12750 would be more accurate based on that example... VRTP aren't open on Christmas Day, so unlikely the 20 in-park guests and 5 phone calls would eventuate. Of course - there are those who have nothing better to do on christmas day than complain on facebook or write a strongly worded email - so that is still possible... file:///C:/Users/Mark/AppData/Local/Temp/msohtmlclip1/01/clip_image002.gif

It seems you have nothing better to do then to re-adjust what were already just made up figures... lol sorry but I had to. Aside from that my personal opinion is that having them closed is creating longer lines on all the other rides which pisses people off. There are now two less rides for families to enjoy together which pisses family's off. So I guess what I'm trying to say is that it doesn't matter if it was managements decision to close them due to lack of funds or if it was an unfixable technical problem. With no current changes or maintenance happening to these locations (that anyone can see) it does piss people off. That is all :D
  3. Was just having a look at some Melbourne parks as I might be heading down there soon. I noticed how Funfields bases their pricing on what rides you can actually use - definitely how all parks should be doing it! Entry & Unlimited Ride Prices* Anyone 142cm's or taller $33.00 Children between 100 & 141 cm's $28.00 Children under 100 cm's Free Seniors $23.00

  4. My (now) 3 year old daughter is absolutely obsessed with Sea World, we went very regularly when we had an annual pass. I'd say it was quite age appropriate, we could always find heaps to do. I do agree that it's very excessive charging a child under 4, and we're taking a year off theme parks until she's another year older again.

Oh yeah, I know it sounds silly but I sometimes forget Sea World exists. All the shows, exhibits and animals are perfect for children and is definitely the best choice if you want to take kids that young to a theme park.
  5. Well I was going to take my cousin and little brother but family had different plans. I still want to go sometime on the holidays though. Trust me it's not that I'm being stingey or anything, I have the money to go and I WANT to, I just want to go with kids because it's that type of park. I'd go to the bigger parks with my friends but AW with younger peeps.

lol thats fair enough, I was lucky enough to get my hands on some free tickets so I'll be going sometime in the coming weeks. Thanks for letting us know about the crowds though, might be good to wait a couple of weeks for it to calm down again. Yeah I agree, going with some younger people makes going on the 'kiddy' rides much less embarrasing haha.
  6. I get the concept of not wanting to pay that much for a toddler, but to answer that question - some people are like us - enthusiasts who love their parks. Some want to expose their kids to the parks early so they love it as much as they do.

I Totally understand what you mean but if that's the case they shouldn't go around complaining that they had to pay for the privilege. The youngest memory I have is from about 4 years old so I still don't see why you would *want* to take them any younger, I'm sure they will still have a love for theme parks if you wait till they're 3+ to start taking them (That's just my opinion). Of course needing to take them because you have no other option is a different story and in that case you just have to suck it up and pay what they tell you to.

Some people don't exactly like the idea of paying for a babysitter, so that they can go to a theme park - something meant for 'families'.

Sure, theme parks are meant for SOME families but if you have a 1 or 2 year old I don't think that statement still applies. Take the kid somewhere more appropriate for their age.

Either way I do think it's a bit rough for AW to be charging the same price down to age 2. at least a 3 year old is capable of riding some things and enjoying it - a 4 year old would probably be better.

I doubt a 3yo is going to be able to do much more than a 2yo - I agree that 4 is probably best.

Went past Aussie World yesterday and carpark was almost full and Redback was doing a cycle which was full. I'd say they'd be doing decent business during the holidays with the Plunge now open. I'm keen to hear some reports though :o

I was actually keeping an eye out for your promised 'boxing day' visit with huge review and POV video... lol :P
  7. I was going to take my family to AW today but was put off by the $29 that I would have got charged for my 2 1/2 year old. Not really sure how many attractions a 2 1/2yr old can go on, so am spending my money elsewhere these holidays. I find it a bit rediculous that a small park would be willing to sacrifice patronage by charging for a 2+ yr old. Even the big parks don't start charging for children till they are 3.

I see where you are coming from, I wouldn't want to pay that much for a child that could only go on one or two rides either. I'm lucky enough to not have or ever want a child lol so it's still great value for me. Why anyone would want to take an infant/toddler to theme parks baffles me anyway, if they can't go on anything and aren't old enough to remember the experience why not wait till they're old enough or leave them at home with a baby sitter.
  8. Thanks guys, It sounds like fun. Will prob try it out in the next few weeks. So with the easy/middle/hard course, do you just get to choose one course or you can do a couple in one day? Yeah they have a pass now for like $60 or something and that gets you into both adventure parcs (tamborine and currumbin) and also gives you access to currumbin itself too. Cheers!

  9. Just wondering if anyone has been to either of the Adventure Parcs (Mount Tamborine - Thunderbird Park/currumbin, Green Challenge)? If so do you recommend it? Is it worth the $$? How long do the courses take? Is the flying fox any good? Also is there much else to do at Thunderbird Park aside from the high rope courses? Cheers!

  10. ^ I'm sure it is a great slide and lots of fun but I just don't think the prices are justified. Admission into park: $2.50 (entry & use of amenities) Waterslides: 5 years & upwards: One hour session: $17.50 (inc. admission charge) Two hour session: $27.50 (inc. admission charge) They use a plural (waterslides) to advertise it, however there is only 1. And for an hour at $17.50 I'd rather pay an extra $5 and go to AW for the whole day.

  11. ^ Agree. I think they do have some quality attractions though - Dodgems are far better than Movie World's, Octopus ride is fun, Swing ride is nifty, Rock & Rebel has some cool effects + of course the Wild Mouse and now the Redback. Oh and you get a good view from the ferris wheel. I think in the next 3 years though they should add something like the wipeout (dreamworld) /rampage (Adventure world) or some type of air thrill ride. If they want to continue to grow then it's imperative they keep putting the profits back into the business. Maybe in the next 5 years they could have a few water slides too up the back there. Sunny Coast has NO slides. It's an oppurtunity.

Totally agreed! Haha, speaking of water slides and Sunny coast - when I was looking up AW I saw something for "Thrill Hill" and started to get a little excited until I realised they have 1 slide and charge like $20 for two hours!!! Lame much!
