  2. Dreamworld theme park to open Peter Brock car collection, interactive motorsport precinct

PETER Brock fans rejoice, for Dreamworld is quite literally about to become your dream world.

The Gold Coast theme park is set to open an interactive motorsport precinct after Christmas this year, with its centrepiece to be the world’s largest collection of Peter Brock racing cars.

Dreamworld has taken over custody of Peter Champion’s collection, with around 30 original and replica Brock-mobiles set to go on display.

The park will also renovate and re-theme the existing Cyclone rollercoaster with a motorsport flavour, install six state-of-the-art racing simulators, while the 6,000 square metre area will also add a new train and themed dining and retail areas to complete what park chiefs are hailing a “multi-million dollar immersive motorsport experience”.

“An Australian first, this will be a high-octane revved-up experience, and while the narrative is based on motor racing, there will be something for everyone,” Craig Davidson, Dreamworld CEO, said.

“There is nothing ‘museum’ about this. It’s a motorsport-themed thill-ride precinct anchored by a celebration of Australian motorsport and Brock’s achievements from the 1970s through to his modern day legacy.
We are working closely with the Brock family and our partners to ensure the attraction is authentic and like nothing experienced in Australia before.
Our new-look coaster will be an adrenalin-fuelled hot-lap complete with its famous loop track and music pumped through the headrests.

“Guests can also race each other on the latest fully immersive simulators featuring all circuit rounds of the V8 Supercar series.”

  3. Gold Coast theme park Dreamworld has unveiled plans for an interactive motorsport precinct, which will feature a host of Peter Brock race cars.

As previously reported, the Brock exhibit is being born out of the Peter Champion collection, previously displayed in Yeppoon, Queensland.

Thirty genuine and replica Brock cars will be on display at Dreamworld within the 6,000sqm motorsport attraction, due to open after Christmas.

Dreamworld’s existing ‘Cyclone’ rollercoaster is set to undergo a re-theming as part of the work, while six racing simulators and ‘themed dining and retail options’ are also part of the package.

Dreamworld CEO Craig Davidson says that the motorsport attraction is aimed to provide ‘something for everyone’.

“There is nothing ‘museum’ about this,” he said.

“It’s a motorsport-themed thrill-ride precinct anchored by a celebration of Australian motorsport and Brock’s achievements from the 1970s through to his modern day legacy.

“We are working closely with the Brock family and our partners to ensure the attraction is authentic and like nothing experienced in Australia before.”

Champion had shut his Brock experience museum due to economic pressures midway through 2011.

Original examples in the collection include Brock’s first Bathurst car (1969 Holden Monaro HT), one of his three ‘last Bathurst’ cars (2002 VX) and the VH that won Bathurst in 1982 and 1983.

  5. I did hear from a staff member a while back the overhaul would be bigger that the TOT overhaul. Another point is did anyone not believe that tot was going backwards (before they announced it) It's physically possible to do, Take the Jester at Six Flags New Orlean (and SF Fiesta Texas before that) for example. I reckon it would give the old ride a new and more exciting twist.

Yeah it probably will happen, it will be a whole new level of excitement at Dreamworld.

  6. I Have Proof It Is True

Here is the email dreamworld sent me:

    Hi Totta3,

The rumours of a revamp for Cyclone are absolutely true. This absolutely includes an overhaul of the carriages. As to reversing them, or what other changes may occur, you will have to wait and see.

We would love to see this done by Christmas, however the timeframes for these big projects are fluid and right now we are focused on a few other big surprises coming up so I don't think a set launch date has been established. Cyclone is getting some big time love and it will start late this year, fingers crossed it is in time for Christmas holidays. When the date is ready to be released, we will start posting some teasers on our Facebook Page, so keep watching this space.
