Greenery will make it look better but the 3 layers of pool fencing I don't like.

What is even the point of this fence?  Why is the fencing so high above the handrails?

Let's go to the expensive of great building that are in keeping with the other facades of the area and whack 3 ugly fences in front of them.🤷‍♂️

As for what I would do.  I would match the stage.

    You brought it up.

I don't think you understand the basic purpose of pool fencing. Good thing the designers do.

This view is from main street but it doesnt show all those buildings so kind of expected this would also be the view when you walk in

Dont understand why they wouldnt want this to great you when you enter instead of some home brew metal sphere thought up by people responsible for the accident

    You're cooked

    Jesus some people are f*&ktards.

    What was the verdict?

There's been no mention since September last year. I would think that it was settled for a sum of money and kept quiet. As ridiculous and crazy as the claim is, legally Movie World would have been responsible. It's a crazy world we live in. Thankfully most members of the public just move on with life after something like this occurs without taking legal action...

  4. I thought the commercial was great and seems to reflect 90% of the consensus on this forum.

The front page article does no better for the parks then the usual media beat up every time a ride breaks down.

Dreamworld is going back to their roots and essentially the ad is showing a 'Dream World' of sorts.

Richard Wilson has taken the commercial far too literally and I get the impression he wouldn't be too fun at parties.

Maybe we should show clips of people lining up for rides or simply staring at animals through glass in order to convey realism. I'm sure that would sent the public to Dreamworld in droves.

What needs to be kept in mind is, that to the GP, these rides are "scary and dangerous".

Us tragics know how the winch system on Superman works, the block systems, brakes on Giant Drop etc. Quiz the average punter and they would probably think it possible for Giant Drop not to slow down, and that Superman is powered directly by a big electric motor.

Education and communication is the key to this issue in my opinion.

You're correct. After all, that's what makes them so thrilling. If they weren't scary and dangerous, they wouldn't be wasting their time or money. It's the thrill of being close to 'danger' but not really. So when something unexpected does occur, it breaks the 'illusion' of safety to them - where in fact it's not the case, the ride was and is designed around safety.

  6. It will likely be based on a DC hero. I'll put my guess out being one of the following:

    • The Flash - Is known for being fast (Would suite a Rollercoaster). Is a DC hero who has a popular TV show as well as being a part of the Justice League movie due for release November 2017.
    • Aquaman - Is a DC hero who will feature in Justice League and also has a solo movie that will be in production at Movie World next year. The rollercoaster will be in the swamp and could provide an 'Aqua' setting.
    • Least likely but I will throw it out there - Wonder Woman - DC hero who will feature in Justice League. We live in a progressive world and there is a lot of focus put on gender equality. Most of the rides at Movie World are 'Male themed' I guess ie. Superman, Batman, Green Lantern, etc.
  7. Gold Coast Mayor Tom Tate has come out and said the park should open only when the families of the deceased are ready.

What about the hundreds of families being affected while there is no work.

Roads open merely hours after a fatal accident etc.

I don't mean to be disrespectful but the best way forward is to move forward instead of dwelling on something that cannot be undone.

  8. I'm sick of seeing the media outlets raising the log ride incident from earlier this year. That was caused by a guest not following rules.

That's like blaming the council for somebody dying on their roads due to speeding.

Also, I know it's never good to dwell on 'what if' scenarios, but i'd be curious to know if the rider protection was secure harnesses instead of velcro straps, would they have been alive today? It appears that the tube went vertical but didn't completely flip.

Obviously the ride is quite tame and for 30 years velcro straps have been suitable, however on a worst case scenario basis (yesterday) they weren't...

    What are your thoughts?

Credit to our theme parks who for decades have kept us safe and incident free.

One thing Australians are good at is safety.

  9. While waiting in line at the loading area of Scooby Doo, there is a 'Staff Only' door which leads to a hallway. If I recall correctly this is the hallway you would walk down after exiting the cinema screening pre show of the Gremlins ride. I'm assuming that either a cinema or the remnants of a cinema is still intact?

I miss the old Police Academy style police cars, like the one seen at the end of the Gremlins ride. What ever happened to these?

    Nice recovery Andrew.

For the record its been discussed to death that the sound stages are out of commission. There are 9 pages of discussion here. As a new member, I would recommend having a good read through a thread to get up to speed in the future. ;) Welcome to the madhouse.

Thanks! I'm a long time lurker, long before the Parkz days.
