  1. OH MY GOD. first off - wiki pedia is a community contributed site. I could contribute something to it stating that Wonderland was set to reopen on the former site of Sydney Harbour. It doesnt mean its true. Space Probe is a Giant Drop attraction, not a space shot. I believe (Correct me if I am wrong) that the mechanics of it are somewhat different. As a side note - Probe was pretty tall, and would have matched GD in DW if it were not for the flight plan over sydney (WLS actually bought 4 tower sections, but due to the fact it was already on the hill, AND directly under the flight path, they only constructed 3 sections of the tower, with the fourth forever rotting in one of the graveyards.) I think it needs to be said (it may have been already but I haven't had a chance to read ALL of this thread) that this is not MW's attempt and copying ToT\GD. This is a completely new attraction, with a completely new type of thrill never felt before. If MW learn from SE, and theme it well, then there is gold in them thar turnstiles.....
As a forth note: What a crock! Where do you get your info? Space Probe NEVER had another section maufactured just laying around in any of the boneyards. If another section was added to Space Probe it would have grown by 11 metres, not even going close to GD. 3 sections of tower?, well unless someone was playing a trick on me by adding another 3 sections everyday before I climbed it then I never worked there. In fact there were 5 11 metre sections on top of the base section which was about 6 metres underground and 5 above the ground, hence the first internal landing only a short climb from the bottom then you were faced with 5 11 metre arm stretchers. As a side note: S&S Power who make Space Shot towers have two types, the one which propels upwards from the base and another which propels downwards from the top. Maybe MW are looking at the down propelled version?
  2. The trains may still be there, last time I was near them (about 9 months ago) they were being consumed by noxious weed. You would need a slasher to free them from the holds of these tree trunk type weeds. It is possible they are unable to be seen from the road, you would need to enter thr paddock to see.

  3. The add states 17 large cars from the Bush Beast priced at $3,000 each car. (I dont know where the 3 extra came from as there was ever only 14 cars on Bush Beast and I took the cars out to where they are/where). Therefore $21,000 for the complete red train and same for the complete yellow train, $42,000 for both, but I reckon you may be able to knock them down to $41,500. Same for Beastie trains, $10,000 per train or $20,000 for both.

  4. Has anyone been past recently to see if they are still there? A complete Beastie train would only cost you $10,000 considering they consist of only 5 cars per train of which there are/was two. Bush Beast would be $21,000 for a complete train of which there are/was two.

  5. Well the cashing in of Wonderland continues, I drove past today and noticed that they are stockpiling crushed concrete / brickwork which means they must have a temporary crushing plant there. This material will be sold by the ton as roadbase. It is near to the Abi/Leighton area and the stockpiles are quite high.

  6. I thought i'd let everyone know that Google Earth, now has coverage of western Sydney, including the wonderland site. Looks like the update is from when the park was still open.
With key milestones such as Skyhawk no longer there, the ship in the lake gone and Captain Cavemans Clippers freshly relocated into Wizards Fury's old site - (see lack of landscaping around area), Planes removed but yet to be relocated at Transylvania fountain, early - mid 2002 is when this photo was snapped
  7. It had not sat there the whole time, one weekday morning around march when i was on the way to work i saw SP running. I would say weeks before they cut the power off. (well i assume after being stuck in melbourne for six months) so it was not that long since it last run, and being mainly electrical components it would run no problem. Plus if it was scrap they would have just cut the thing down, instead of dissassembling it with a crane carefully.
Well they must have taken a big arse generator on site to enable it to run last March because power was shut down in December. And if it did run in March it would have been a good four months since it last ran and let me tell you four months without lubrication to the rails and especially through summer, running it up and down is not so simple. If it was to be scrap the method of dissassembly would not be that different to if it was to be re-installed, just cutting it down is not an option, even where there are bolted joints you would still undo the bolts as opposed to cutting there.
  8. I think you will find that thet strategically built the tower crane between both rides and then they can work on both rides simultaniously, wherever the demand for a lift is then the crane swings around. That is the only way they will get the rides down in the limited timeframe they have.

  9. I did mean Zoomerang as that is its new name at Visionland. The mess I refer to is to do with the guy who had to be contracted in at the last minute to pull the ride down. He has a demo licence which the original company who came over did not have. He obviously thought he could charge what he wanted (500 an hour to be precise) because there was such urgency to get it down and out. After it was done the original company (Canadians) who were contracted to pull it down decided not to pay this guy his exorbitant fee using the distance between the two countries as a safe haven. This also impacted on Visionland who purchased the ride and they were also chased for payment even though it was outside their contract with the Canadian "experts". They may have made a verbal agreement to get things moving but verbal agreements can have a nasty habit of changing or dissappearing. All this mess and believe me it was an utter mess with lawsuits still to play out helped cause the lateness of the approvals to demo rest of the park which then caused heat for a certain ex-Wonderland CEO therefore damaging the negotiations for the yanks to buy the coaster cars.

  11. Does anyone think maybe just maybe some sense will prevail and they will keep the BB station as a museum type building which may house all sorts of Wonderland things? Lets hope this is the case and the reason that they have not dozed the station and not because they ran out of diesel. Of course only if this fits in with their planned use of the land, we could'nt have it hold up some warehouse's construction....

  12. They started by putting HMS Endeavour in containers and clearing the overgrown ground around Probe/Zodiac and starting the diesel motor on Zodiac and manually operating the lift cylinders as per evac when no power is available. So yes it has all started, you should see a solid 6 weeks of action and then a noticeable gap in the skyline of Eastern Creek. Will post more as it comes to me.
