The main problem I see here is that this is a 3 day a week attraction which runs only for the holidays. So people are going to visit PC and 4 times out of 7, walk in, realise how boring the place still is (especially without the tiger cubs) and walk back out again. Personally I believe going to see Dreamworld's Tiger Cubs is much more enjoyable, then you can walk around to Tiger Island and watch the show, spend alot longer there.
Also did the bullen family not run circuses with animals (against what VRTP believe?)

6 months later and the ride is still disappointing. Good example on how to destroy a well themed ride.

Everyone has been complaining about Dreamworld needing a headlining show (such as MW and HWSD). If it is a semi permanent show for the school holidays it could be quite exciting. I remember how good Spellbinding Sorcery was at Wonderland back in the day. Would always pack out the theater even on quiet days. The only place i could think it would work though would be over at DW Studios.
If it works out for them i think they should throw some money at Matt Hollywood to move his show to the park and do what Tony Laffan did to Wonderland.

I know this ride is taking forever to open, but these rides are amazing. After going on a few overseas i am very excited to have one here on the gold coast. It is a new experience and once word gets out it may spike a small rise in visitors. Fingers crossed that it spikes just enough to encourage future development.

Replace Storm Coaster at SW with a B&M Dive Machine.

I'm not too bothered about the amount of rides closed or reduced hours. I just got back from a trip around china and went to a few parks (including Shanghai Disney, HK Disney and USS) . The smaller parks such as Happy Valley have half the park closed cause it is the off season and the rides that are open have reduced hours. Even both Disney parks and universal had reduced hours. I think we have been spoiled here in Australia the past 10 years or so.

Cosentino sounds like a pretty good guess. He has written a couple of books. His TV show is shown all around the world (may get him up to that 50mil mark). Just checked his website. He has no shows scheduled till July... Possibly a illusion show for the April school holidays?

Wow... I have never heard such a large group of whingers.
Yes DW have a few rides closed but the park still offers a great day out.
TOT2 - Closed for obvious reasons, may need major upgrading ect.
Wipeout - Only just gone down for maintenance
HWSW - General Maintenance
Buzzsaw - May only have been closed for this long because the access to that area of the park has been restricted while parts for iRide are craned across from the old bus shelter area over the buzz saw entry.
I was there over the weekend and the place was still buzzing with happy guests. Dreamworld is still rebuilding, which takes time. I have confidence in the park that they will continue to deliver new experiences and maintain the great atmosphere that they pride themselves on.
TBH i hope i don't see anyone from this forum thread at Dreamworld, it would make the park a very negative place.

Sega tried their hand at theme parks in the mid 90's, and both of their big parks in London and Sydney flopped so hard that both of them died by 2000, losing millions of dollars for Sega in the process.
I think you will find that Sega World in Sydney was never owned by Sega, the only provided theming and licences for the park. It was owned by Jacfun who were in it for a profit (which they did not get)
I believe they also originally built the park without Sega's full approval.

I think you will find that Buzzsaw will open next. It is being tested everyday at the moment. Claw and Wipeout won't be too far behind.

Yeah... It probably is time for an update of that area. I don't believe leaving the ride SBNO in the long run is the best idea because it covers such a large area of the park. EMR luckily is enclosed enough to leave SBNO but i agree the 'gold rush' theme is no longer a theme park trend

Most people on social media saying "too soon", and "they shouldn't open til the coronial inquest is finalised".
To them I say - there is no rule for this, or precedent. No matter what day or week they chose to re-open, they would have copped slack for it. And, if you want to keep a business that employs 600 people closed for potentially upwards of a year, you are impacting livelihoods, and causing widespread disruption & impacts for the entire Gold Coast. Reactionary, short-sighted and stupid imo.
I agree 100%. The incident can still be investigated if enough of the park is closed off.
Can i also say how refreshing it is to read a much more intellectual conversation about the issue than reading what keyboard warriors post on news websites and Facebook pages.

Not the best ride...
12 months ago i rode the exact same ride at an indoor theme park in Malaysia (which has now been ripped out) and for good reason.
I wonder how long Movieworld will keep up the maintenance of the surrounds and ride...

does anyone know if the park will re-open after the friday memorial?

What about this travelling ride I found in Hong Kong? No seat belts or anything...
