In the queue: You can save yourself? Are you damned? Warning, Demons! Save yourself!
The ride entrance.
The ride is quite tangled, and makes good use of the hillside. It was built on the site of an old log flume, and re-used a few of the old buildings for the queue line.
As the name suggests you ride "on the wings", which produces some unique movements and sensations.
The ride was designed by Bolliger & Mabillard of Switzerland, who also built Krake a few years earlier.
Flug Der Daemonen is the first and only Wing Rider coaster in Germany.
Krake cannon theming.
We hope to see this back and better than ever in 2019.
Transfer track.
The trains, with a sort of tribal decal. The Statue of Liberty was previously a landmark in the park lake but was later re-purposed as part of the theming for Colossos.
One last turnaround and the ride is over.
Next is the helix, and then more hills.
From the first drop it's a series of powerful airtime hills.
The lift hill reaches a height of 50m.
Fortunately the park has made the decision to carry out the necessary refurbishment, and it will reopen in 2019.
The coaster was the first to use Intamins prefabricated wooden track segments, a trailblazing design that allowed for a much smoother experience and reduced maintenance, but otherwise untested for long term use. The ride opened in 2001.
Unfortunately due to problems with the track and structure the ride has been closed since August 2016.
Colossos is one of the worlds largest wooden coasters, well regarded for powerful airtime and a great layout.
The ride is almost identical to Rita - Queen of Speed at Alton Towers in the UK.
