Wild Island is essentially a glorified playground.
Kangaroo Crossing is the one open expanse in the park, offering a relaxing place to feed, watch and pat kangaroos.
Due to construction works at the time of our visit this is the closest we could get to the tree kangaroos.
The track layout is actually semi confusing as it loops back on itself several times.
How do you prevent kangaroos from getting out? A system of gates and a grid of electric fence wire on the ground.
Several boarding points are around the park.
Plenty of trains running so waits aren't too long.
The miniature train has been a long term Currumbin staple.
Most of the park is on the western side of the Gold Coast highway. Pedestrians and train riders cross under via a shared tunnel.
Adjacent to the Sanctuary Cafe is the igloo-like "Encounters Dome"
The dome is also used for individual, additional cost wildlife encounters.
"My God. A pigeon. That's the last bird on my list. So long, suckers!"
Sheep shearing, cheesy humour..it's all there.
Like Dreamworld and Paradise Country, Currumbin has an Australiana Show geared towards the overseas market.
The (potentially) killer Cassowary.
The Tasmanian Devil is a small aggressive mammal.
