Sea World welcomes cub Henry to Polar Bear Shores

Sea World's newest polar bear Henry makes his public debut at Sea World today in a new $1.5 million extension to Polar Bear Shores.

Polar Pre-School allows the new cub Henry and mum Liya to be on display at the same time as the older male bears – because of the nature of polar bears, it's unlikely that cub Henry will ever be introduced to his father Hudson.

Sea World’s Director of Marine Sciences Trevor Long said that this is a huge milestone not only for Sea World, but for Polar Bears in the wild.

“I think everyone will fall in love with this gorgeous little bear and that’s a great situation for all Polar Bears as he will help to raise awareness and to create empathy for this vulnerable species.

“There has been so much anticipation from Sea World guests and all of the staff for this moment and I can’t wait to see the faces of our guests as they see this little cub for the first time. Sea World originally planned a naming competition for the new bear however instead announced that the bear would be fittingly named after famed Alaskan explorer Henry Hudson.
