With plans well underway for parks in Asia, Village Roadshow has announced its plans to also expand into the European market. The company is already planning a park in Athens, and are shortlisted in the tendering process for one of the former sites of the 2004 Olympic Games.

No further information regarding this park is available, though with many world-class theme parks within the European market only a few hours drive or flight away, such as Disneyland Paris, the Australian company will need to invest accordingly.

Singapore has already been eyed off as a potential location for a Village Roadshow funded theme park, anticipated to cost between AUD$80-160 million, with Village only contributing between 25 and 50% of the total capital.

Earlier this year Warner Bros. sold Village Roadshow their 50% stake in the Australian chain of theme parks, however part of the sale included an agreement for Village Roadshow to build Warner Bros. Movie World branded parks in Asia.

It is not known if this agreement will extend to Europe, where in the past there have been two Warner Bros. Movie World parks with limited input and no financial backing from the Australian company, in Germany and Spain. One was owned by Six Flags while the other Six Flags and Warner Bros. had a combined stake of around 15%. Both have since been sold and renamed, with only the Spain park retaining Warner Bros. licensing.
