Movie World delivers blockbuster entertainment with DC Super Heroes and Super-Villains

As Wonder Woman dominates in the box office, Warner Bros. Movie World celebrates all things DC Comics over the next week with DC Super Heroes and Super-Villains, another superbly executed event on a growing calendar of blockbuster seasonal offerings at the Gold Coast theme park.

Parkz was a guest of Warner Bros. Movie World for the Ultimate Experience. Although this post is sponsored, all opinions are our own.

DC Super Heroes and Super-Villains kicked off June 24 at Movie World. The limited event runs through until July 3 and makes the most of the Gold Coast's mild winter days and earlier sunset to bring a full day of unique entertainment and activities that culminates in an evening parade at the convenient time of 6pm.

Pop-up photo opportunities like this one have sprung up throughout the park.

Warner Bros. Movie World has gone from strength to strength with seasonal events: Fright Nights has become a teen and young adult institution and White Christmas offers families a truly immersive Christmas experience. DC Super Heroes and Super-Villains is no exception, carving its own identity that sits somewhere in the middle; the offering of activities is sure to appeal to families, die-hard comic book enthusiasts and everyone in-between.

The Riddler is back at Movie World. He's one of several characters on offer exclusively for DC Super Heroes and Super-Villains.

DC Super Heroes sees the introduction of all new characters and floats in the 6pm parade; Wonder Woman's float is a stand-out new addition and is more than deserving of its place at the front of the parade. The Arkham Asylum inmates' has a menacing presence and old favourites from the Warner Bros. film library are back after a lengthy sabbatical; The Penguin from 1992's Batman Returns is back, as is The Ridder from 1995's Batman Forever.

The new Wonder Woman parade float is one of the most intricate that Movie World has ever produced.

More than just a parade; the DC Super Heroes and Super-Villains parade is a show in itself with a storyline that unfolds; if you're not part of the Ultimate Experience then you'll want to try and stake out a spot early – midway down Main Street is your best bet to take in as much as you can.

Getting in the spirit

Movie World is encouraging guests to come dressed for the occasion, and plenty of folks in the crowd – both young and old – make the most of the opportunity, giving the theme park a hero and villain atmosphere unlike anything before. Some of the more serious cosplayers in attendance even give the official Movie World characters a run for their money.

The Super Hero Suit Up shop has appeared on Main Street and sells a variety of hero and villain costumes.

Junior Justice League

Younger kids can take part with Junior Justice League. All kids are given a costume to keep of their favourite hero and taken on a 90-minute experience training and completing a special mission before the park opens for the day. The end result being no shortage of pint-sized Batmans, Supermans, Wonder Womans, Green Lanterns and others running around the park all day long.

Ultimate Experience

Another in a long line of perfectly executed premium offerings from Movie World, the Ultimate Experience offers a full day of special opportunity and activities that starts at 8am with the DC Super Heroes and Super-Villains Character Breakfast, and runs through until the event's close at 6:30pm.

(The Character Breakfast is also offered as its own activity if you're not up for the full, ten-hour Ultimate Experience.)

Movie World have perfected the art of rolling out the red carpet, and if you're a fan of their Star Tour or the Fright Nights' Ultimate Terror Tour then you can expect a similar stress-free day at the theme park with everything taken care of, from breakfast and a buffet lunch at Rick's Cafe to reserved viewing at the Stunt Show and the evening's parade.

It's a long day but the added flexibility of Fast Track means you can take on the park's major rides at a steady pace and easily catch many of the pop-up attractions, special performances and character appearances that are only on offer for DC Super Heroes & Super-Villains.

There's a whole lot of new theming and interactivity around Movie World for DC Super Heroes and Super-Villains.

The Ultimate Experience also includes an RFID wristband for the interactive offerings at DC Comics Super-Villains Unleashed, as well as VIP access to Arkham Asylum VR. The virtual reality experience on Arkham Asylum is one of the most superbly executed examples of a VR coaster in the world, and also Movie World's most immersive DC Comics themed experience, so bypassing the queue for this one is a welcome addition to the day.

Junior Justice League, Super Heroes and Super-Villains Character Breakfast and the Ultimate Experience are offered on select dates between June 24 and July 3 – check the calendar on the event's website for dates and availability.

When Carnivale was relocated from Warner Bros. Movie World to Sea World this year it left a gap in the calendar that has been flawlessly filled by DC Super Heroes and Super-Villains. The event plays perfectly to Movie World's growing arsenal of DC themed rides and attractions and further demonstrates their ability to put together unique experiences.
