  1. I couldn't find my camera so I used my phone for the photos. I noticed the second tower structure is not siting on wooden blocks from what I seen, there is a hole cut into the tar where each post is siting inside. This is either concreted into the ground not bolted to concrete or they have cut holes into the tar and placed it in the holes ready for a crane??, I noticed a thrid being built I beleive siting on its side also shown in a photo. Maybe they are palying tricks with us.

  2. Here are some figures - (Take notice of the base area and project start and opening dates) Does anyone know the total area the ride is possibly using - if it remains outside the park between helicopter pad and gate behind chaitlift station then the dimentions would be around 70m x 10m max approx. this would suggest an XT150 would fit in this spot. 3. I have been thinking that too. The short ride is really made for larger parks like six flags which have many roller coasters and people are spread out over them all but Dreamworld doesn't have many at all, so people will go to the 3 roller coasters. Cyclone has a good capacity. The Tower of terror has alright capacity. but these would be worse because they don't hold any more then the tower of terror plus the ride is longer. Unless this isn't a skyloop it will have bad capacity. If it is a bigger track like Hollywood Rip Ride Rockit, they could have more then one train, which would give it a good capacity.

    This is where the X-Train would come in handy: X-Train: Technical Data • Passangers: 8 - 36 seats, 4 per row • Capacity: up to 3000 pph • Max. speed: 130 km/h • G-forces: min: -1,2 g; max: +6 g • Inversions: yes • Multimedia-ready (speakers, individual song choice, video cameras, displays...)

  4. Well I am going to put my 2 cents worth into this discussion and add - whether they build the long or short model, having another rollercaster at our parks is still a bonus. Looking at the Maurer Sohne website the X-style coaster trains look amazing and will give a ride experience that we don't have here in Australia. This coaster should be a great addition to the Gold Coast. I can only see this as a positive and with the competition watching closely down the road maybe this will be the beginning of a Coaster War (we have more than you).

    Maybe mines bigger than yours
  5. It only has to be closed for as long as the bits of construction directly affecting the rapids take place.

I aggree with you there 100%

Look, it doesn't matter if they are constructing a building, or a coaster or a giant donkey statue, if they plan on painting it onsite, it will arrive reddish brown.

I think a Giant Donkey Statue Idea is great.
  6. Strange - 3 days after Thunder River Rapids reopened, Dreamworld has posted this on its maintenance page: "Rapid Ride annual maintenance and for construction 25 May to 22 June 2011" Would the construction be for the supports laying out front of the park? Because come to think of it the current colour of it would suit Gold Rush Country. I feel weird being pretty much the only person looking at the maintenance pages lol

Just spoke to dreamworld and they let slip that the Train is also closed for the same constriction. I wonder what construction needs all that closed???
  7. I heard they're doing a major refurb of lethal weapon and replacing batman the adventure ride???? Anyone else no any more??

The Outsiders have said they will be releasing some possible different news and something to add to this soon.
  8. You search for something to grip, somewhere to plant your feet, but there’s nothing, just a single harness pinning you into the seat as you bravely face your mission, to feel the surge and ride the wave of Dreamworld’s newest adventure ride, Shockwave. Dreamworld’s latest addition to more than 30 rides, attractions and shows, Shockwave is a daunting sight along the park’s Ocean Parade. One hundred and fifty tonnes of steel, a massive turbine disc and the looming rises and dips of Shockwaves vivid green track are enough to send the weak stomached running for the merry-go-round, and challenge the bravest of action seekers. As you make your way onto the huge 24 person ride disc, grab some seats with your family or your mates and cast your eyes onto the terrified faces of the spectators below. Don’t be fooled as the disc cranks to life, it only takes a few moments before the initial gentle sways to take a turn for the worse and become 360 degree spins of fury. At full speed you’ll be propelled at over 50kph down a 63m long wave-like track that plunges and climbs, so one second you feel completely weightless and the next the full load of gravity takes hold, all while circling at 12 revolutions per minute at up to 2.5Gs. Open to guests for the June/July school holiday period, Shockwave is an electrifying and fun open air adventure that promises to leave you spinning. Discuss it on the Thrillz Forums Now Shockwave Ride Facts: Ride Capacity: Ride Time: Composition: Cycle Time: Track Length: Max Speed: 24 riders per cycle 90 seconds 150 tonnes of steel, 400 tonnes of concrete, 9 tonnes of carriage 4 minutes 63 metres 54kph Acceleration: Disk Rotation: Restraints: Manufacturer: Commissioned: Rider Guidelines: 0.2G – 2.5G 12 RPM Single Back, Dual Locked Safety Restraint Zamperla based in Vicenza, Italy 2011 (June) Must be over 120cm

  9. Hey Guys, Ive uploaded a video on youtube as i went to Dreamworld and i have taken a few shots of the contruction sites in front, near the carpark and the chalkzone! i believe that some coaster parts have arrived in shipping containers, Which ive been told that it was open this morning (doors) and the person that told me saw the pieces of the track, it has believe that it had been shipped from Germany!no picture sorry. Link for video:

Great work on the vid. Would like to see more in the future. Dreamworld should have a media release out this week. (So they say) Source: Kenny Koala
  10. what i find is strange is that when i went last, the current park map in park not online said there was a new attraction coming 2011. So if its major work it should have began since the whole volcano was removed from the map as well so im thinking along the lines that work has started indoors so to keep us all out but the real concern i have is how are they going to move the volcano since it is huge and the jet rescue is blocking access for trucks etc it would have to be smashed in to pieces tho i would love to see it stay maybe in a new area

This is what you'd be refering to? (see attachment) untitled.bmp SW_ParkMap-Apr11.pdf
