  1. Hey guys, went to dreamworld today but only for a couple of hours cause i wanted to park hop between movieworld and dreamworld both were quite busy, although i'd say dreamworld may have been slightly busier. Anyway unfortunately due to technical issues with my camera i didn't get any unblurry shots of track parts or grey pieces. But there about 8 pieces of bright yellow track stacked up next to the tower of terror onsite. With them were straight pieces of steel Painted verydark grey/black. They were only about 1.5metres long at most so i somewhat doubt they'd be supports they were also relatively narrow. I did take some photos but due to user error (i stuffed up) i ended up with bluury photos. Sorry guys, in my defence it was a pretty rushed day. anyway there were about 8 segements of track looked like some of the station track perhaps some of the lauch track... Not really sure. I'll post a blurry photo later so you guys can at least know the colours. On a note although Tower of terror is still operating, I found out that they have been having issues over the last few months of the shuttle coming back too fast and unable to ebrake and travel too far back. Although its not dangerous it does mean that they haven't been able to reset or winch back to launch position. It seemed to be troubling them. They OP did say they have people working on figuring out why this is happening I'm sure they have their engineering on to it. It's just annoying because it can take several hours for the TOT to be operational again instead of less than 10 minutes for a reset and winch.

  2. At the end of the day the giant drop has been operating for more than 9 years without incident. It's well maintained and isn't even the same ride trade model as the american one. It's pretty silly to close it, it really is paranoia as Gazza said.

  3. "There's no story in taking precautions... it doesn't sell newspapers."- It's hardly front page material, lets be real here, how unfortunate this whole situation maybe, it is still a relatively minor occurance on a ride across the other side of the planet quite literally. It is hardly front page material, nor would this occurance attract huge media interest and whether a precautionary measure or unprecautionary measure is taken, it is not exciting news. It's some poor girl got hurt on a similar ride to what we have in australia and dreamworld is not shutting down its similar ride. Really is quite esoterical.

  4. If a plane crashes do they cancel all flights around the world. Typical American neuroticism. Sad to hear someone gets hurt on a ride, but as far as I am aware giant drop is still in operation as it's not listed in the in maintainence page of their website. Although I am still wondering how someones leg could be severed by a snapped cable. If the lift cable were to snap the gondola and the hook carriage above will fall but they'd still be attached and on GD they are both attached the the rails and would still hit the eddie current brakes as per normal the cable could hit someone I guess. not sure...

  5. Hey guys, the park expansion has commenced, they have bought in excavation equipment and started digging something. I asked one of the staff and said they are slowly expanding the park but didn't say anything else. Construction is happened where the overflow carpark is and has blocked some access to the rip from the temple of huey side.

  6. Lasers for the most part work. Occasionally 1 or 2 lasers isn't in operation in particular the laser that is infront of the turn table and occasionally the laser that hides the final drop doesn't operate I am not sure why this is, because they seem to be intermittant as far as would be operating during morning, then out at lunch then operating again in the afternoon. The fogmachine/hazers were replaced with water atomisers. They aren't very effective. but better than nothing.

  7. mmm I can't figure out the ride pattern from the photos, as yet. All I know is that it's a thrill ride with a somewhat rectangular foot print that is quite long in one direction goes all the way from edge of wiggles world all the way along to the giant drop area. But in the other axis its not extremely wide. Looking at the size of superman's footprint which the coaster section is really quite compact, i'd say that this one isn't tiny layout probably an average sort of sized one. Will be good to see how it develops over the next few months.
