  1. Did anyone get an email saying they could be the first ones to ride it? I swear the date was the 8th? But it must have been the 1st. I'm disappointed that i missed out. I even sent them an email with mine and my partners pass numbers. Oh well that's what happens when you don't keep your emails.
Yes. What the e-mail was saying was that on the 8th of October, VIP Annual Pass holders were able to get into WnW an hour before the general public to ride Kamikaze, like the early entry at DW. They were not referring to an early entry on the day of its debut.
Looks like Wet N Wild/MyFun pass holders will get in a little early.
  2. Does anyone else think it is interresting that W'n'W's last three major attractions Tornado, Surfrider and Kamikaze all offer sort of the same ride experience. Up, down, Up, down half pipe sort of rides, anyhow.
A few people have mentioned the similarity. I'm sure some would have considered it as interesting.
I still think that Kamikaze looks as though it's basically just half of the Tornado funnel. So would this ride similar to the Tornado minus the small drop at the end? An OK ride from experience, though it seems pretty similar to what tornado does Also as many have stated it would deliver roughly the same eperience as tornado. the Sidewinder design seems almost identical to the Tornado and I don't see how the experiences on either ride would be different. I would be majorly disappointed if they added the Sidewinder slide too. It really is a poor man's Tornado I guess the dual installation is a point of difference to Tornado I haven't yet seen how this ride would be much different experience from the tornado ...it does just seem like a smaller and less impressive version of the Tornado.
Also as many have stated it would deliver roughly the same eperience as tornado.
  3. Has anyone else seen the new bins down main street they look very Disney like.
Looks like Movie World has finally realised that they are so far behind other parks when it comes to bins. It's good to see that they're really picking up their game recently in areas where they are clearly lacking. I heard that management is discussing the idea of putting a roof over each bin in the park, so that people may dispose of their rubbish no matter what the weather is like. At least that will be more beneficial than some of their more recent roofs.
  4. oh, haha, well im only using windows movie maker so i cant do much
I was quite surprised myself when Microsoft removed the 'Normal' special effect and all other effects from WMM. Oh well, we'll just have to stick with the standard rainbow colours display. Only joking buddy. I think that what Gazza was saying is that you needed no effects in your video.
  5. And the tower is painted....urgghh, makes sick every time i think of the colour. Is painted BRIGHT RED. The whole tower, stairs, supports, everything RED  . At least now they are getting a bit more adventurous with colours they use to paint their slides. Other than the combination of white, blue, green, yellow and black.
I actually preferred it when WnW had a consistent colour scheme throughout the entire park. It just made everything flow better. The colours gave it a more tropical look.. it suited the park. I haven't seen it yet, but this bright red colour sounds as if it sticks out quite badly. The large variety of colours works for WWW because the park itself somewhat reflects this fun, busy nature. Wheras WnW, to me, seems to have a more relaxed, tropical feel.
  6. Is it because jjutpp is so disgusted by his/her own posts that so many are titled with an emoticon that is about to be sick? As far as a replacement for Stephen Gregg goes, as long as they are concerned with fixing the things that need to be fixed very soon, I will be happy. With their recent profit growth, there's nothing really stopping them from improving their maintenance of rides and other areas of the park.

  7. I don't think its fair to judge the atmosphere of main street based on a dodge photo taken at 9.30ish in the morning before there are any people there. In the past the only shelter has been in the shops, now there's the entire Main Street and plaza which are under cover.
True, but I did make sure that I said that it looks as though it is going to kill the atmosphere, because I knew that someone would pull me up on that statement. Well, you do have a point. But, the shelter is only going up in mainstreet. The two main reasons that people would be walking down mainstreet would be to go to other rides and attractions, or to go into shops. I don't see that the roof will make much of a difference, considering that people will be sheltered inside shops or ride queues. People don't just stand in the middle of mainstreet for extended periods of time. The only time during the day that I can see it being any major help on a rainy day is during the Star Parade, but this is only a small part of the day. On a day were the weather was so bad that you need a roof like this, a large number of people probably wouldn't even go to the park in the first place. I don't really know enough about the events to really discuss them in relation to the roof. But if people are giving the argument that the roof will be great for night time events-great! The 2 days a year that Movie World is open at night will be spectacular! (and I'm joking, please don't come at me with things like "It's open more than 2 days"... you know what I mean) Trouble is, the other 363 days that its not open at night will have Mainstreet looking as if its night time anyway...
  8. This is a joke. One of the key things that separates Movie World from Dreamworld is the fact that Movie World has a great atmosphere, unlike Dreamworld recently. But this ridiculous, unnecessary blocking out of the sun looks as though it is going to kill the atmosphere of the place. It's ugly and pointless. I just don't see how this could have benefited Movie World. They're getting no money from it, its unnecessary and is not aesthetically pleasing.

  9. Perhaps Dreamworld is appealing to the half million people per year who visit the park, who either aren't with NRMA\RACQ, or don't live in an area covered by them, including internationals as well.
Sorry, I just realised that I left out the rather vital part of my post, indicating that I was referring only to those that ARE motor club members. Apologies for the mistake.
  10. ...got on one ride, cyclone. Every other ride was closed apart from the rides in Nick Central.
My experience was quite different... I got about 3 or 4 different rides in before 10. I think that it's well worth it. You can use the time to avoid the rush at the lockers and plan your day ahead. It's also quite nice to just walk around the park when its a bit emptier in the morning. I think that you're probably a bit silly if you pay the ten dollars, when you can just get the deal at NRMA/RACQ. Then again, not everyone would be informed of this deal.
  11. As mentioned by others, the Sidewinder design seems almost identical to the Tornado and I don't see how the experiences on either ride would be different. This worries me, as it seems as though WnW are constructing a new ride merely for the sake of having a new ride to market, causing a rushed decision for the slide type. I'm guessing that this slide is going to have a bit of trouble attracting guests, essentially being half of the adjacent attraction. I may become less concerned, though, if one of the more different designs (as pointed out by Gazza) were used. This would probably be enough to overshadow the similiarites that the Tornado and Sidewinder share.

  12. Why scary? New South Wales is in desperate need of something other than Jamboroo and Luna Park.. I think Old Sydney Town would be a great asset?
I assume that he is referring to the eerie atmosphere of being in a town that is modelled after 19th century Sydney.
  13. 1. Well below standards in terms of aesthetics. 2. Unnecessary, especially considering that there are ways to protect yourself from the rain (poncho, umbrella). 3. Would turn Main Street into a greenhouse, causing temperatures to soar. 4. Would not shelter you from the sun if it were made of glass. 5. If Movie World decided to go cheap and not make it out of glass, you would be walking through "Main Tent". In the words of The Comic Book Guy: "Worst idea - ever"

  14. I agree with Gazza. Even it doesn't happen to someone who is sliding normally, I suspect there will be some complete brain-dead person out there who will try to slow down or stop in the tube, fall off the so-called 'roof' and quite possibly cause some serious damage to their back/neck. Without being strapped in, who knows what people will do.

  15. 'Bill and Teds Excellent Adventure' has a water park scene. I looked it up and it was actually filmed at two different water parks - 'Golfland - Sunsplash' in Mesa, Arizona and 'Raging Waters' in San Dimus, California.
'Raging Waters' in San Dimas, California is also featured in 'Norbit'.
